We got several estimates for replacing our furnace and a/c. This was the one company I didn't feel like I was dealing with used car sales men who were trying to rip me off. I felt like they were honest about what I needed, didn't try and up sell me things I didn't need and respectful when I asked for time to consider my options. Once we decided to go with them they scheduled us with in a week. The install was fast and I barely even knew they were in the house. Everything is working great and we are really happy that we decided to go with a local company. I am very picky and do extensive research before any major purchase. Frederick Heating and Air has excellent reviews, provide a great value, excellent warranty and professional service.

Fantastic! Excellent workmanship, superior problem solving and incredibly nice people to work with…read moreon our bathroom remodel. We live in an historic home in downtown Frederick and have several neighbors who have used this company. If I could select 10 stars I would be as happy as I was with Peekskill Electric's work! I am amazed there are only a couple Yelp reviews for this business. I even asked about why there were not more Yelp reviews at our first interview & Kenny the owner said he gets most work from Another's List though he's booked many jobs over the last few years from Yelp referrals so it must be a good start for people searching for help. I wanted to add another post to Yelp because this is where I found the business. So, here goes. I interviewed 5 companies for our job. This is why Peekskill got the work: 1. They arrive on time, every time. This is a HUGELY UNIQUE experience for us! 2. They call you back. Not just same day but for me it was the same hour! 3. They are as interested in each new project as the homeowner. 4. Kenny has many years of experience as an independent electrician and he does the work himself with really nice young people apprenticing. I like knowing the person I talk to is the person I'll work with on the project. 5. For me, his experience and recognition of what it takes to work on an old building clinched the deal. Now the work is done, I can't say enough positive things about the experience, but here are a few impressions: 6. Prices were competitive with other contractors. Response time BY FAR exceeded others. I had a contract the day after our evening interview (but I am still waiting to here from one of the other 5 companies!!) 7. Kenny is a genuine, nice, professional person. He has really good communication skills and is easy to work with. That's a plus for weekend warriors and DIY projects. He is a happy person who genuinely likes working with people and helping them see their project come to life. 8. I got the impression the city inspectors really like his work. You won't be stuck trying to coordinate repeat work or re-inspection visits. We have a new favorite electrician: Peekskill Electric!!

I had an overall decent experience with this company. The guy that came to my house was the owner…read more He seemed knowledgeable and.. efficient. At the time, I was actually surprised by the lack of investigation that was required to diagnose the issue but I didn't question it. My issue was partially fixed during this appointment, but unfortunately I did have to have another plumber come out to assess and they discovered there was a clogged. I think if more time was spent investigating the issue, I likely wouldn't of had to call on another plumber. I even mentioned that there had been water accumulating in the pan under my furnace, which I know can point to a clog.. but I felt this was somewhat ignored. Furthermore, I felt the owner of this company left me with really poor advice.. advising me to cover the return vent on my main level with a piece of cardboard, which was supposed to help cool down the upper level of my house quicker. He wasn't specific about how long to keep it covered, but I figured maybe 2 to 3 hours? Well after a couple hours my indoor ac unit starts making a terrible noise. At this point, I do some independent research only to discover that covering your return vent with a piece of cardboard is a terrible idea! So idk if the poor advice was with malicious intent and just out of ignorance. But that's my story.

After a scorching summer and a long vacation that ended with a trip to the hospital for my husband,…read moreI returned home and immediately noticed our AC wasn't working. I called J & J, a company I've dealt with before, and within an hour, William and Matt arrived at our house. They took their time to explain the issue and presented us with clear options, avoiding any pushy sales tactics. It was evident they were knowledgeable and genuinely cared about restoring our home's comfort. We decided to replace the 15-year-old AC unit. In the meantime, they were concerned about the excessive heat and provided us with a temporary AC window unit to cool the house. Within two days, Brendon, Evan, and David arrived with the new unit. They were incredibly professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. They promptly got to work, wearing shoe covers inside, laying down mats, and removing the old heavy equipment. They completed the repair quickly, cleaned up thoroughly, and ensured everything was functioning perfectly before leaving. Finding honest, hardworking, and skilled home repair teams these days is rare, but this crew exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Johnson & Johnson and their three exceptional technicians. I also want to thank the in-office staff for keeping us informed and updated throughout the process. I wish all businesses operated like J&J.

I'm very disappointed with my recent experience with this company and its Comfort Program…read more A little over a year ago, I hired this company to replace the HVAC system at my rental property and paid approximately $14,000 for the new system and installation. I subsequently continued doing business with them and paid for their Comfort Program because I wanted the new system professionally inspected and maintained on a regular basis. During the most recent scheduled maintenance visit, the technician told me that the HVAC system is working properly and that there are NO problems with it. He was unable to identify or articulate any actual problem that needed to be repaired or corrected. Instead, during the visit, the technician discussed an optional iWave air-purification system with my tenants before discussing it with me, the property owner. What bothered me most was that the technician apparently brought up the fact that my tenants have small children and discussed how this product could provide cleaner air for their family. Naturally, after that conversation, my tenants wanted me to have it installed. I was then contacted and quoted approximately $740 for the system. After doing my own research, I also have serious questions about the value of this type of ionization technology. From what I have been able to determine, the real-world benefits of bipolar ionization systems such as iWave are debated, and I found plenty of criticism questioning whether the benefits justify the cost. That makes the way this product was presented to my tenants even more concerning to me. I have absolutely no problem with a technician identifying legitimate repairs, safety concerns, maintenance needs, or even recommending an optional upgrade directly to me. In fact, that is one of the reasons I pay for a maintenance program. But the technician specifically told me the system was operating properly and that there were no problems that needed to be addressed. What I do have a problem with is using a maintenance visit that I am paying for as an opportunity to market an expensive optional product to my tenants--particularly by tying the sales pitch to the health and well-being of their young children. My tenants are not authorized to approve repairs or upgrades to my property. Any optional products should have been discussed with me first. Instead, this put both my tenants and me in an unnecessary and uncomfortable position. I am now left explaining why I may not purchase a product that the technician has already suggested would provide cleaner air for their children. After spending approximately $14,000 with this company just a little over a year ago, I expected the ongoing relationship and the Comfort Program to be focused on maintaining and protecting that investment. I certainly did not expect a maintenance visit on a properly functioning, relatively new system to turn into an opportunity to sell additional products to my tenants. As a result of this experience, I have decided to cancel my Comfort Program. I want to pay an HVAC company for preventative maintenance, legitimate service needs, and honest recommendations--not for twice-a-year opportunities to upsell products to my tenants.
