While the quality and craftsmanship are obvious, the overall flavor didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The chef is clearly top-tier and puts a lot of care into the pizza. This pizza lived up to its name, extraordinary! I ordered the Star Luca which has ricotta, mozzarella, spicy salami calabrese, spicy Italian tomato sauce and fresh basil. The crust was thin, slightly crisp and light, in other words, perfect! The sauce was spicy and flavorful without being overwhelming. The mozzarella was just enough to carry the salami and give the basil some support. Simply stated this pizza was perfectly balanced with each component complementing the others., pizza perfect!

Everything tastes incredibly fresh, from the ingredients to the deliciously thin crust. You can really taste the quality in every bite! Mister O1 definitely knows how to make pizza exciting. Maybe it really is the New York water, but it just doesn't taste the same here. I've tried the Miami location twice. I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm back in New York to get my Joe's fix because, for me, the Miami one just ain't it.

Sergio F & Italian food...goes without saying!…read more I came by with a group of friends Saturday night for sustenance after weekend activities in downtown and the beach. La Leggenda had been in my to try list, and finally had a chance to do so this weekend. We liked the fact that our waiter regularly checked on us, even resolving an issue with one of the glasses as soon as we pointed it out. Oh and having a corner table by the window to enjoy the Española Way street scene to perfection! The three of us decided to share two pizzas: their Margherita STG and the "Regina". Both had a perfectly thin and airy crust. The fresh basil and melted mozzarella do indeed make their margherita pizza truly award winning. The Regina Pizza was topped with a nice helping of perfectly salty prosciutto as well as baby tomatoes and greens. We also asked for extra sauce and chili oil which made the pie even better! Of course, there was dessert! With its crumbly graham cracker crust, creamy ricotta cheese and pear pieces this dessert made for a sweet ending and was enough to be shared between the three of us.

What's really neat is that this a NY based restaurant that people usually wait in line to try and get it but here on the beach we've never waiting more then 10-15min to be seated. Service overall is timed well. We never wait to be attended to and food always come out hot. Atmosphere is relaxed and not pretentious at all. So my very high level of anticipation may certainly be partially to blame for my average-ish experience. I was pleasantly surprised to get a table with no wait at ~6:30 on a Wednesday evening. Staff were attentive and friendly. Prices were high, as expected, but at least the pizzas are of reasonable size. The $32 pasta portion probably could've been a bit more generous. But anyway, on to why we're all here - The Pizza: The crust had a great crunch but I felt lacked nuance beyond that, no chew and a touch on the dry side. Cheese and sauce were fine but also unremarkable. The heaps of basil provided some bright freshness that was definitely appreciated. And while the pizza was tasty, if I'm being completely fair, it just wasn't memorable enough for me to understand the hype or feel like I needed to come back for it. I did end up coming back a second time to try the pasta, and unfortunately, that experience was disappointing. Both my friend's pasta and mine were significantly undercooked. What made the situation especially awkward was how it was handled. The waiter seemed almost bothered that we mentioned it, and eventually the owner came over and spoke to my friend, saying he would personally make sure hers was cooked properly. But he never asked about mine, even though mine was just as undercooked. When my friend's pasta came back, it was much better, but mine was never addressed. The whole interaction just felt strange and uncomfortable, especially considering we had the exact same issue at the same table. Between the pizza not quite living up to the expectations I had going in and the experience on my second visit, I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to return to.
