After being at the bar for about 7 to 10 minutes we were finally acknowledged, and given our drink menu no chips no salsa, no smiles. It took about another 10 minutes for us to get acknowledged for our food and once the food came out, it was very mediocre $2.15 for sour cream. I was in the area with a friend looking for a place for dinner and this place seemed to be a good try. When walking in, you'll see that this is an old establishment from the outside. Don't judge this gem by its cover. I was greeted and was sat immediately at the booths. I loved how spacious and large they were. This Mexican restaurant is so cool because it's split up into so many different seating arrangements. It has a bar, low-sweating, high-sweating, and really spacious booths. The food was great! I ordered the shrimp tacos along with a mango daiquiri which was amazing. There drinks are HUGE btw. I loved my drink, it was fruity and light. Additionally, my shrimp tacos were great. On Saturdays our group of friends like to go to different places that have no cover so this week we went to Cozumel. Y'all this place was interesting to say the least... For starters it was the lack of tables and space for me. We were packed in there as though covid and the delta variant were a figment of our imagination lol. We eventually requested to be moved outside were there was more space (just 1000 degrees hotter and you couldn't hear the music but it is what it is) I feel like the vibe was giving old school vs new school. There was a ton of auntie and uncles present but very few millennials. (Nothing wrong with it. Just wanted to throw that out there) Our waiter was pretty good. I didn't get his name because it was extremely too loud to hear but he did what needed to be done! The pitchers were a decent price. I don't like how they had tiers, I wish it was just one set price because it's confusing in the end but I definitely understand why w/different tiers of liquor! The hookah was a little trash... they only used 1 coal which I've NEVER seen. The flavor was almost none existent, and it was more expensive then places we've been to in the past/go to regularly. The one thing they did do right by is their hot lemon pepper wings!!! Those were a hit with our table! We enjoyed and I would literally return for those wings alone. All in all... Amazing experience. The ambiance is very upbeat. The DJ came in during the evening and it became an even better vibe. The food was awesome. I started with the Cheese Quesadilla, followed by the Fish Tacos! Omg! The fish tacos were so meaty. So juicy. So good. Had enchiladas that tasted good, but I though they could have been a little bit hotter (temp wise, not spice wise). Staff was fairly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was good and kept my drink filled, so that's always a plus. We did the mango nada, frozen margarita and ATL margarita. we did the large handmade guacamole, which was wonderful. We got barria tacos Tapatio burrito. We will definitely be back. Presentation was literally 10 out of 10. Our service was 10 out of 10. And the restaurant is extremely clean workers to be able to assist you if you need any help. The manager has also been consistently present. The decoration in the restaurant is very calming and inclusive. A very welcoming environment for families or for dates. We came at lunch. When I was travelling to my hotel, I saw the sign for Cozumel. Being a big fan of Mexican, and having been to Cozumel (Mexico) a few times, naturally, I had to stop in and check it out. The prices are a bit higher than what I've seen at other local establishments, but the food is well worth the prices. I had a combo #23, which is normally a #11 or #18, and consists of a taco, burrito, rice and beans. The food was excellent and the margarita I ordered was super strong. The service was stellar and I will definitely make a point to return here next time I am in the area. Thanks, Cozumel! UPDATE: I came back to my hotel and died for 7 hours after that margarita. I honestly wasn't sure about coming here and I typically don't trust places without a website but we came either way. We were seated immediately, given menus, as well as salsa and chips, which were warm. They had a Monday special for $9.99 margaritas, so my sister and I each had one frozen while we waited for the rest of our party. When the rest of the party showed up we ordered food and a Texas margarita pitcher. The menu was large and very extensive with more than just Mexican food. I ordered a combination dinner that came with 2 tacos and beans and rice. We wanted the Texas pitcher frozen but the machine had stopped working so we had to get it on ice but the server insisted she asked for it to be made stronger. I honestly wasn't that huge of a fan but the machine eventually started working again and we were able to order a frozen pitcher. I filled on chips and salsa so I wasn't hungry when the food came but I still had a few bites and the food was tasty. A couple cons there was another server who was celebrating his birthday and it was a few of us who had just celebrated so he said he was getting us shots and we assumed they were free but they weren't and ended up on our bill smh. The Mexican at Cozumel affectionately known as "The Mexican" is hands down my favorite place to go for drinks, music, and good food. When I step into this spot on the weekend I feel like I'm at the club, music is booming, hooking is blowing, and folks are dancing. It's such a good time. On the weekends the service is a little slower but the waiters are always attentive and checking up letting you know what's going on with your order. I recommend the Fiesta Plate from The Mexican at Cozumel to anyone who has a craving for some good authentic Mexican food. I am in loveeeee. The fiesta plate is a bed of Mexican rice slathered with queso and topped with chicken, steak, shrimp, onions, and broccoli. AMAZINGG. Everything is so flavorful. I could write two paragraphs on how that dish makes me feel alone. The drinks are also good here. Nice and strong and reasonably priced. Came here a few days ago since I was craving Mexican food. When we walked in, I was immediately taken aback by the darkness. It was 11:45am and felt like I was in a club. Should have been cause enough for us to leave. Open the blinds! Flip thru the menu, which made audible noise due to stickiness. *yuck* Clue number 2 to leave. Our waiter seemed to have more important things to do, besides being at work. Had to ask for water...he kept disappearing and I assumed he was on a break. We ordered fajitas, which came out sizzleless. Super disappointed as fajitas should always sizzle... Pico was super tasty as it included fresh jalapeño. Guacamole was good also. When water finally came, it also include an unwanted silverware wrapper. When we made the manger aware of water with inclusion, she giggled it off stating the same thing happened to her previously with a straw wrapper. What??! We shared we wouldn't be back and the staff scoffed as if they couldn't care less. Spend your money elsewhere. Management. Please open the blinds during daytime hours. Please clean your menus. Lots of chicken, rich broth, fresh veggies: broccoli, carrots, onions, mushrooms. Served with rice, fresh jalapeños and cilantro on the side. It is my go to sick food and the container is big enough to eat it 2-3 times. It's SO FRESH. I also lived in the area and this spot POPS on the weekend! The motorcycle guys meet there on Sunday (like the old Frozen Palace) and it's like a club the other weekend days. It has a patio and the music always seems live. This place keeps a crowd. UPDATE 10/24/19....Came back at 3pm to grab a late lunch....EPIC FAIL. All the wait staff they have and I still in the front for 10 minutes with employees walking by me and looking at me but no one acknowledged me or tried to seat me. What do you do before Hurricane Irma hits Atlanta, go hang out at a Mexican restaurant w/ family! We decided if we were about to be stuck in the house for a few days, might as well enjoy the last day of freedom. So here we go... Parking is a bit of a situation. We had to drive around a few times because paying $10 to park in random adjoining lots that are not affiliated w/ this business was not going to happen. Luckily a few people were coming out, so we were able to grab a spot in the lot behind the restaurant. Once you get your quick pat down / search by security, you enter. The music is loud & hip-hop, R&B, urban mix. Sunday night definitely seemed like a biker club night. The music was pumping, the drinks were flowing and the crowd was loud. People were everywhere. Thank goodness some people I knew were there, so I didn't have to wait for a table. The average age of the crowd is about 25 & up, mostly on the upside depending on the day & time. We had strawberry & mango margaritas at our table. They were a bit watered down, so I got the bright idea to mix the two flavors and that helped. They were ok, but I've definitely had better from this place. But you can't blame the establishment for that, blame the bartender. The food was what I expected. Cheap, quick, and got the job done. I needed something on my stomach so that I could have a couple of drinks and the shrimp tacos worked that out for me. The salsa is not handmade, I think it's poured out of a jar or something because if it sits on the table too long, it gets watery. If you want to come have a good time, this place will provide you that. Do not come here expecting "authentic Mexican food" and an "authentic Mexican atmosphere feel" just because of the name. I was waiting to get seated for like 30 minutes while there was 3 hostess in the aisle talking didn't care after their conversation one of them sat us down, we hadn't had anyone serve us in until maybe another 15 minutes the waitress as nice and explained we came in when they were shifting shifts and wanted to close our tab so they wouldn't have to keep serving us I ended up paying it and still tipping her but was not content with the service at all. When I first walked in there was a horrible mildew smell. Our glassware has food and stains on them. The food and drink was decent. The menu was sticky and had hair all over it. Our table was dirty and that was the second one we sat it because the first one dirty as well. I would NOT recommend this hotel. Should've went with my first choice. read more
