I came here with two friends and ordered the carne asada with chilaquiles. The carne asada was incredibly juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. A lot of places serve it a little too dry, but this was cooked perfectly and was easily the highlight of the meal. One of my friends comes here pretty often, and my other friend ordered the tacos. The portions were generous, and he said they were really good as well. The waitresses were also very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint was that the cups of water cost around $0.75. I wish they had mentioned that beforehand, although it may have been posted somewhere and I just missed it. Overall, the food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the service was great. I would definitely come back, especially for the carne asada. Highly recommended!

The tacos were mediocre and my drink must have been a virgin because I didn't taste any alcohol. The waitress only took my order, brought the food and returned later with the check. She never came back to the table to check on us or to offer anything else. When I went up to the bar to pay my bill, I was charged $25.90 and I left a $4.10 tip since she didn't do much. July 2nd, I checked my account and seen that I was charged $71.90 instead of $30!!!! I called up there immediately to discuss the matter. I was told that it would be best to come back and bring the receipt. I returned on July 8th and asked for the manager. I was told there was no-one there to speak with me. Well I explained to the waitress what the issue was, showed her a copy of my receipt that I scanned in using Fetch and my bank statement. She went to the back to show the manager (who I was told wasn't there). She came back and said that I needed the original receipt . I asked her to see the signed copy of my receipt and was told they no longer have it because it was last week when I came in...lol. They kept making excuses so I sat at the bar and called my bank. While I'm quietly waiting on hold, an officer walked in. A lady came out to meet him and they spoke in Spanish so I'm not sure what was said. She showed him a receipt that was in a zip lock bag . He then came over to me and asked what was going on. I explained it to him as well. After I finished, he informed me that they didn't want me here. I sat at that bar trying to rectify the issue for almost an hour and now all of a sudden they didn't want me in their establishment. I didn't yell or acted out in any type of way while I was there from 5pm-5:50pm. I walked out with Sgt. Ortiz Ramos who was not in a marked police vehicle. I disputed the $41.90 over charge with my bank. I'm pissed from the way this was handled. So many red flags so I know something underhanded was done. Why you couldn't show me my signed receipt and why was it in a zip lock bag????

Like you could smell good food cooking. I've tried Pollo Asados at a few places and they just didn't have the grilled chicken flavor, and they didn't have onions or jalapeños, all fails. El Arroyo was authentic, the grilled chicken was giving exactly that grilled TODAY. Seasoned, grilled and appropriately charred, onions and jalapeños tender. Oh AND FRESH. The beef tacos were very seasoned and NOT DRY. OH, almost forgot the 2nd best part... their beans and rice is made with vegetable oil not lard, I didn't try the beans cause I didn't want to risk it but I did taste a spoon on rice and it was seasoned and flavorful too. My sister who doesn't eat pork either did have the beans and she hasn't said anything about feeling any kind of way but she did say they were good. 1 star I understand you want to make sure I know what I'm ordering, trust me I do. The reviews were decent so I figured why not give it a try. It's attached to a gas station which gave me pause but I decided to try it anyhow. When we walked in, it immediately smelled like cigarette smoke. In any other instance I would've turned around but I was so hungry and there was actually a lot of foot traffic so I proceeded. The spot itself was crowded with boxes everywhere and it felt super grungy but I knew what I was getting myself into. Ordering and getting my tacos was pretty easy - made to order but came out quick. I settled on some chicken tacos. Once I got home I was slightly disappointed. The chicken really didn't have any seasoning and flavor. Once I added my hot sauces it was good but I just wanted a little more flavor to work with. As crazy as it sounds, I would try the birria if I was ever in the area, it seemed to be literally what everyone else was ordering. Overall wouldn't necessarily recommend but it wasn't terrible.

I think worth going out of your way for given the quality/authenticity for these. The hipster version of this in Atlanta would definitely be over $20.
