This is a quasi-convenience store, quasi-fast food place. I can only speak for the turkey…read moresandwiches. You go to the cash in the store part to order food and pay. There are a couple of tables in an eating area but no table side service. You order, pay, given a number and then proceed to wicket where your number is called and you take your food and go. Turkey is cooked in shop as is the bread. I opted for turkey sandwich (with dressing) and cran-mayo on white bread. Simple and delcious. They offer burgers, fries and the ever popular fries, dressing and gravy. Reasonably priced and tasty. Nothing fancy here but that doesn't matter.

Wow, this place is a hidden secret…read more What appears to be a convenience store on the outside is also a fantastic breakfast and lunch place that does sandwiches on fresh bread and also has dishes such as hot turkey or hot roast beef. My work colleague had mentioned to me that this place is famous for their Breen's famous turkey sandwiches. I was somewhat intrigued to see what this was all about! So I ordered the famous turkey with a pea soup $9.99. You had a choice of cranberry mayo or regular mayo. You pick up your meal from a sliding window that's hilarious (like a prison window). The sandwich came out as a heaping serving of real turkey with stuffing and mayo. The soup was really delicious also. Very thick purée of pea soup in a ham broth with a slightly sweet turnip tasting thick consistency. Overall it was amazing! There is a small area to eat in but fills up very quickly at lunch. The somewhat lack of restaurants in St John's means this place is pretty busy! Come get a Turkey Sandy, you won't be disappointed!

It's been a long time since I've had a burger with more than one pickle on it from this location…read more They only ever give me one single pickle slice in the middle of the burger. I like pickles and I deserve more than a single pickle if I pay for a burger that's supposed to come with pickles. I don't want to have to order "extra" just to have enough. The same problem exists with the minced onions. I'm not exaggerating when I say they give you 4 pieces of 1 millimetre x 1mm minced onion. Not just sometimes. Every time I go. You can't even see the onions. If I get a hamburger, it's basically just two damp pieces of bread and a skinny patty. And eating at McDonald's is getting much more expensive, very quickly. Where are my pickles and onions McDonald's? Find it in your miserable corporate souls to take a marginal cut to your profits and put the toppings back on our burgers. If McDonald's goes belly up because they put toppings on the burgers that they sell then I guess they weren't doing a very good job of being a restaurant. And why is a large fries almost 5 dollars? Half a bag of potatoes is 4 dollars. Get outta here with that. I'll go to Wendy's instead. People aren't as addicted to the fries as they hope we are, especially since they changed the fries. Over the years they've become hard and tasteless. 20 years ago they were cooked in beef fat and at this point I'm guessing they use the cheapest oil they can possibly source and they're hoping the brand carries them. It's insulting. We are not going to pay $10 for a meat disk that looks like it was picked from the trash and some julienne sliced potatoes. Thanks.

I had my eye on the PB&J burger that I had seen on Yelp, as peanut butter is my favorite thing ever! This burger did not disappoint. While the combo sounds strange, the flavors were well-balanced with the brie cheese, caramelized onions and bacon. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium and the hamburger bun was soft. I chose the kettle chips for my side, and they tasted house made. Very delicious! The only thing I didn't like about this burger was the price tag = $22. Hubby had the seafood chowder for $17 and it was enough for a full meal. He said the chowder was very flavorful and full of seafood. He was in heaven! We both ordered a Quidi Vidi 1892 amber ale on draft. They only had 7 beers on tap and I wished that they had a medium or dark beer, but this area doesn't seem to be big on that. They do have Guinness in a can, if that's your thing. Service was friendly and the food came out relatively fast. The booths were comfy and the pub reminded me of a cozy neighborhood bar. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!
