Three piece fish and chips .... wow.
C P.

This joint gets the full five for all kinds of reasons. Location; situated on Bell Island in Conception Bay this is one of the nicest historic towns you can visit. It is a step back in time. Atmosphere; small town and folksy along with spotlessly clean. Service; you order at the register and seat yourself. This is part of the charm. The staff are so very friendly and genuine. They will be round to check if your meal is to your liking - count on it. Food; I tried the three piece fish and chips. Great value and huge portion. Served piping hot and on point. Do yourself a favour, take the ferry across and meet some of the friendliest and decent people you will find anywhere. I took my SUV and my partner over and back for $14.00. About the same price as my meal! We had a great day in a magical place.

This review is for the take out side of the restaurant. They also have a lounge and a sit-down restaurant. The staff are courteous and understand that some people are looking for something to pick up before the ferry departs. You can easily park you car, walk over to the restaurant, and return with a tasty lunch. We had the medium size of fish and chips which comes with two large pieces of fish and nicely dark fries. The batter is nice and light. The fish itself is delicious, but portions of it were slightly rubbery in texture. In all a good place to grab fish and chips when you are on Bell Island.

Breen's Superette - Now that's a turkey sandwich... On brown bread with stuffing and cranberry mayo... So amazingly good!

This is a quasi-convenience store, quasi-fast food place. I can only speak for the turkey…read moresandwiches. You go to the cash in the store part to order food and pay. There are a couple of tables in an eating area but no table side service. You order, pay, given a number and then proceed to wicket where your number is called and you take your food and go. Turkey is cooked in shop as is the bread. I opted for turkey sandwich (with dressing) and cran-mayo on white bread. Simple and delcious. They offer burgers, fries and the ever popular fries, dressing and gravy. Reasonably priced and tasty. Nothing fancy here but that doesn't matter.

Wow, this place is a hidden secret…read more What appears to be a convenience store on the outside is also a fantastic breakfast and lunch place that does sandwiches on fresh bread and also has dishes such as hot turkey or hot roast beef. My work colleague had mentioned to me that this place is famous for their Breen's famous turkey sandwiches. I was somewhat intrigued to see what this was all about! So I ordered the famous turkey with a pea soup $9.99. You had a choice of cranberry mayo or regular mayo. You pick up your meal from a sliding window that's hilarious (like a prison window). The sandwich came out as a heaping serving of real turkey with stuffing and mayo. The soup was really delicious also. Very thick purée of pea soup in a ham broth with a slightly sweet turnip tasting thick consistency. Overall it was amazing! There is a small area to eat in but fills up very quickly at lunch. The somewhat lack of restaurants in St John's means this place is pretty busy! Come get a Turkey Sandy, you won't be disappointed!
