The worst part of my experience with Cox was not the intermittent service, it was quitting as they make it as nearly impossible as they can. You will find that you simply can't fire Cox without spending a lot of time making phone calls. I thought I was successful using the chat option on their app. But they continued to bill me for two months after I disconnected. I even got a warning and a late fee. Finally I sat down with the phone and spend the time playing phone bingo with a robot. It was my sixth call that finally got to a real person (well, I got a real person on the fifth try but he hung up on me). I still don't know if they are going to drop the charges for "Services Not Rendered"! Clearly it is the business model for this miserable company to make disconnecting as inconvenient as possible. read more

As I type this, I am waiting for yet another rep to answer my call. The wait time has been over 20 minutes at this point! After finally dealing with a competent individual, he confessed that someone at Cox created a fake email address for my mom and was billing her thru that as a paperless statement! (my elderly mom does not have an email account or internet). Cox inaccurately made her "paperless billing", (instead of sending me the bills), so we had no way of knowing when a bill was due! In addition, Cox failed to have me on the account as originally arranged upon creating the account (I am the power of attorney, due to my mom's condition). Worst cable company i have ever experienced. Since starting service a week ago it has not worked. When I call I keep doing the same steps to troubleshoot the issue and it doesn't work. I was a cox customer for a long time, I grew tired of this company as they increased the price every year for no reason. Their typical gimmick is to provide a discount for the 1st or 2nd year, then dramatically increase the price after the promotion period is over. It wasn't until Cox had to compete (with Centurylink) for people's business that they offered higher internet speed (voluntarily) and provided more reasonable prices. I switched internet service as soon as another internet service provider is available in my area and never looked back. It's ridiculous to give money to a company that just want to squeeze as much money as they can from regular folks. That's apparent from their constant price increase with no value added over the years and their shady marketing and predatory pricing schemes. Choosing any other company is a step in the right direction. It sends a clear message that we will no longer contribute a cent to a greedy company that doesn't treat its customer properly. read more

For weeks now, our apartment complex had been receiving the notices about a planned outage today (Oct. 7, 2021) that would shut down all cable (phones, internet, tv). They were very thoughtful, and gave us plenty of warning. I advised friends and business contacts and gave them an alternate phone number to reach me. At 10:08pm last evening (Oct. 6, 2021), I received the notice on the left side of the screen shot, and sent the good news that Cox had completed its work, and I was up and running and would be today (so far I am) at 6:21 am, Oct. 7, 2021. But when I opened my overnight email this morning, I saw the message that appears on the right side of the photo, that apparently came in a 2:31 am. I called Cox and they say there is no outage planned for today on my service. I have no idea if my service will be on or off at any time today- so I'm sending this review before I might lose service. If you wanted good-hardwired internet in the valley then you are probably out of luck! Cox has the monopoly on what you could consider "fast internet" from Scottsdale to Chandler. Here are some highlights from cox communications: Random outages (some scheduled, some not). If they are scheduled by cox, they are still considered random for me if they don't inform the customer about them! Horrific customer service. Oh your internet went down? Don't worry sir, here is $5 credited to this months bill for all the time you've lost. Increasing your bill every single year despite customer loyalty and lack of upgrades on their end. Cox is in the Stone Age as far as "fast internet" goes. They are finally beginning to offer fiber but not in many areas. So how about you get the exact same service, but we're going to increase your monthly bill every year by $20/month. If I could rate them a 0 I would. Cox communications is nothing, but a bunch of crooks and anyone who works for them should be ashamed. I am begging for a new ISP to come to the valley. Couldn't put zero star worst cable company a year ago it took 3 different techs to get modem working. Each time they replaced the cable going to pedestal, and to the modem from premises box. Never did get anywhere close to the speed I paid for. Being a former technician in Colorado I understood can't promise speed. Used their chat service to save time and after being verified as an account holder the chat representative had to transfer me to another department (more waiting). Once the new rep came online they had to verify me again because I of course could have been a different person on a different IP address which they have that information at hand. I sent the same verification information and they returned stating I am not authorized, funny because the first person just authorized me. This rep would not help me and eventually disconnected after wasting my time. My issue never resolved and just left with a phone number to call so I can wait more. DON'T USE!! read more

System (Internet and phone) has had outages in my neighborhood as follows: Tuesday, June 11 for multiple hours during the afternoon Wednesday, June 12 for multiple hours during the afternoon Thursday, June 13, for multiple hours starting at around 12:30 AM. Going through their robot phone system is a pain, but, I guess, that's to be expected. They don't tell you to press 0 for a representative - you have to figure that out on your own. When I talked to the agent, he told me that there had been seven outages in the last month, which I find astonishing. I let the agent know the real problem is outages. Cox completed running Fiber throughout our neighborhood. I called to get internet service. They sent technician out and he couldn't connect because fiber needs to be run from curbside box to House! Technician stated he'd write ticket and they would be out in 1-2 days. 2 weeks later it still hasn't happened and they also took $50 out of my account!! They charge for data overages, streaming services and online gaming will run you through their data caps in no time. Had to file a BBB complaint and a complaint with attorney generals office to get my issue resolved with a move to a Camden property that has an agreement with Cox for TV ultimate and 500 internet, included in rent and lease. Ordered no extras, and received a order confirmation in spanish for some reason with a 28.00 addl monthly charge. This after 3 calls and order still messed up. This my COX, maybe unbelievable, but Similar to many. So I wanted COX fiber, and it was in my area. And the only reason to get COX, you have NO other choice. So they give me an install date, 4 months out. About a month later, out-of-the-blue. I get a knock on the door, and they want to install fiber, from my house to the road. Two hours later they return and tell there was a problem. The problem is not at our street but down the road. A week later another persons shows up to fix it. They can't. A week later a crew with a backhoe shows up, and they do fix it without using a backhoe. Then on the appointment date, an installer connects it into the house. I was gone when he finished (I should add, I use my own router, not the COX one) but when I got home I found this giant roll of coax cable next to my house, just laying there. And a small fiber was run across my front door where anyone could trip on it. I called COX and said this is NOT acceptable. So the installer calls me, and returns. Why is this giant spool of coax here? "I didn't know what to do with it" he says. So he installs this giant COX box and puts the COAX in it. COAX not fiber. I also tell him about the terrible install across my front entry. He adds a few extra screws, but its not really fixed. I lived with it for a few months. So my neighbors got fiber and it was installed pretty good, why not mine? So I called COX for them to FIX it. So they arrive, not COX but a third party company. Nice guy, and say he can fix it by going underground and going under my sidewalk. BUT it was 4pm and raining, so we rescheduled two days later. This time a guy from COX shows up. "Oh no, we can't go under the sidewalk. Its going to have to go up the wall, over your entry and down the wall to my office. Do you protect it from the sun? NOPE. I live in AZ. So he says he will look into it, and borrow a drill to go under the sidewalk. The appointment is next week. So here is a joke for you. How man COX people does it take to install fiber? 8 I think, but its a work in progress. PLEASE Google Fiber, PLEASE come by my house. And Starlink is even starting to look good. read more

I've been a loyal Cox customer for about 35 years and have watched my pricing steadily increase over the years. While that is understandable, what really pissed me off is when I tried to "move" my services to my new home. I was told that my rates for services at my new home would be about 50% higher due to the fact that I was now in a "new fiber optics" location and that with the new technology, my rates would go up. WTF? I have never heard of such garbage before. They should at least move my services and honor the current pricing for the remaining 8 months or so in my contract period. To make matters worse, without my consent, the Cox sales rep placed new service orders at my new home. I noticed the pending orders on my online account and cancelled them. Guess what? He placed the order again, and again, and again --- six times in total. Each time even after I cancelled them. I finally called in to get this freaking criminal sanctioned and away from my account. I was finally successful, but I doubt if Cox management will even sanction this criminal or perhaps, they even encourage this type of fraudulent behavior. And even our wonderful Public Services Commission does nothing to prevent and stop these kinds of fraudulent practices. So now I have to place disconnect orders for my current services. I try to do this by calling in, but I am told by the automatic system that I should do this online via "chat". So, I try to do that, and I get some moron who just infuriates me. First of all, he asks what I want to do? I tell him I need to cancel all my services since I am moving and not going to use Cox anymore. He responds by saying, "so you want to know what your new billing rate will be at your new house?" WTF??!! When I finally get him to understand that I am cancelling service, he wants to know when the stop service date is. I give that date to him, and he says, "so how long will this temporary vacation stop be?" OMG!! Is this guy an idiot or is this how they are trained to get you to keep their services? I then tell him that I will return all the Cox equipment to their Cox Store, but they should send my final bill and prorated refund to my new address. He then says, " what mailing address should I send the final bill to?" I wonder if Cox knows how moronic their customer service people are. Or maybe they are trained to be that way? Worst internet company there is. Don't waste your money. I've had Cox internet for 7 years and spent over $12,000 with them. Recently I've had two outages and it took 2 different repairmen to fix it. Was out for about a week. I've also had many mini outages for a few hours and times where the service was so slow it was almost un-usable. I asked for a $50 discount for my trouble and was offered $17. I was insulted. I had to contact them 3 times to get an offer of 17 measly dollars off my bill. I declined the offer. Their service just went up to $170 per month. $12,000 spent vs $50 to keep me. Not a smart business decision. They deserve to lose customers. They think your time is worth nothing. Worst company!! They have awful customer service. I literally have to reach out and email corporate no joke once or twice a month!! This month I'm at 3 times I've emailed them and all they do when they call back is say oh we will out in feedback on the rep. Really but you keep having the same type of customer service? Well, cox is infamous for rate hikes, add ins, etc. I went from 109-148-210 in less than year. Cancelled, they never shut service off, stating my internet was still being used! BUT, the best- couple years ago I bought 3 tv modems, but when returning the 2 they had here, before I switched to century link... I morally have all 5 items left. No refund, and won't return them.
