And the staff and food prep did not disappoint! Started out with lobster bisque (with a good amount of lobster) and a dozen snails (chef slipped a couple extra!) in a marvelous garlic butter and Parmesan sprinkled over all. Then for entree we enjoyed a wonderfully prepared Herb Crusted Wild Pacific Red Snapper With Creamy Parmesan Polenta, Basil Pesto. I enjoyed the Pan-Seared Nova Scotia Deep Sea Scallops on a fresh bed of lettuce mix and greens. So definitely a restaurant to try but you'll want to plan staying a night or more given they are on an island off the Vancouver island! Rooms are great also with some placed in cabins with views making you feel like you're in a tree house amongst the pines. Of particular notes, each morning different fresh baked muffins mysteriously appeared outside the suite door . But definitely the breakfast each day was amazing.

Each site has a firepit, and the campground office sells firewood at $7/bundle. We camped two nights here in a tent while bike touring. It has a few hills coming from town, but the whole island is a bit hilly. It is about 5 km from Ganges town, about 25-30 mins bike ride depending on your fitness level. If the weather is bad, at least there is a recreation room to retreat into that overlooks the water. Facilities they have are: - electricity at the campsite - heated washrooms (up to 13c) - flush toilets with running warm water - warm showers - outside sink for dishwashing - wifi internet - hot tub (6 ppl capacity) - small pool - recreation games room that is heated -- ping pong table -- television with cable tv channels -- couches with coffee table for board games - boat to borrow There is a movie theater nearby as well and the ability to launch boats into St Mary's lake to go fishing. Also available are campsites for RVs & trailers, and cabins with full kitchen and BBQ for cooking. We paid $35/night for 3 people with two tents sharing one campsite. You can call ahead to reserve your spot. Payment in advance required to reserve. Site 16 & 17 is really close to the washrooms. Note that there are exterior lights to the washroom if you think it might bother your sleep.

Used to love coming here until the horrible new management. After ten years of coming here, our…read moregroup will never be back. Honestly the worst holiday experience I've ever had. We are a pretty easy going group but we were screamed at and chased(!!!) by management... Viewing the chalet on line, it looked like the perfect space for us to celebrate! After receiving my confirmation I began booking the ferries required for our trip and dinner reservations to help celebrate my husband and daughters birthday. I breathed a sigh of relief to have it all set....until..I received a phone call from guy at green acres saying that it turns out they don't have my accommodations available. I don't understand how this happens. Obviously someone not doing their job properly, and we end up paying the price. All he could offer was a small unit, and a suggestion of another resort. After which time, I found out to be impossible to find accommodations at this time. So much for our planned weekend away.... :(

Same sort of issues as the other reviewers. Long story short: boat was dirty (mould and rodent droppings in beds and cupboards) and unsafe (pontoon was out and boat listed dangerously). "Staff" we're late and lazy. Card was charged full amount about 8 months before the trip? Afterwards some sort of pittance was vaguely referenced but no follow through. They had the audacity to suggest that we had expected to much because they are a "mom & pop" company. Just not with the accompanying price or service I guess!? Not worth it, especially when you have so many other choices in companies (who can handle issues) and venues often at lower prices.

Jeff explained the rates and what I needed to bring with. As they are the new management team and do not speak down to you, on the phone, as some other rental companies have, I can say I look forward to taking out my next houseboat. Jeff explained that if we have issues at any time during the rental contact them. This speaks volumes. He explained that the houseboats are checked prior and after, and as just in my truck rentals, things happen that cannot be predicted, ie door lock not working in a new truck, mechanical issues can happen. I am ready for my rental.

(get ready, this is a long one)…read more After a few very different stays at Bodega, I can honestly say that it's one of my absolute favourite places in the world. In.the.world. The staff not only take an unfathomable amount of pride in their work, but are friendly, professional, and entirely accommodating of just about any reasonable request. One of their star employees, Dave, has always made me feel as though I am not just a guest, but am visiting my second home. And I imagine that I'm not alone when I say that after the first visit and meeting with the owners, Jesse and Chris, that I felt as though I'd gained two new best friends. Talented, whip smart, and cool, they are the perfect proprietors of such a place. Island life can be tricky, teetering between too hippie and too stuffy, but they've found a real balance by being themselves, and the property at Bodega reflects this. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen in each of the seven cabins, this is not what I'd consider roughing it by any stretch of the imagination. A classic log cabin inside and out, the modern touches are what make it cool. Plush leather couches, filament bulb lamps, Pendleton blankets, reclaimed Douglas Fir tables--the could-be twee aspect of cabin life is exonerated by sensible design. There's even a flat screen TV in each cabin with a small library of movies in the main lodge to choose from, but I wouldn't bother--there's so much to see and do at or nearby Bodega Ridge. Spectacular meadows, forests, and wildflowers surrounding the property, Bodega is positioned so that it's almost always bright and sunny. The staggeringly beautiful trails along the ridge offer one of the best views of the gulf islands, and the ocean is close enough to walk to in a matter of minutes. Also, bonus: the weirdly infamous Stoneworld (as seen here: http://www.hellobc.com/british-columbia/blog/january-2011/stoneworld-on-galiano-island.aspx) is a worthy stop on the way to a serious magical forest hike. Free wifi throughout the property, an amazing main lodge that can accommodate up to 70 dinner guests, and wonderfully knowledgeable proprietors who will have a recommendation for just about anything--all a quick boat ride from Vancouver. I don't know that I have the words to describe just how amazing Bodega Ridge is. Bringing the city to the island, staying rustic and real, this place has it all. **of note: Bodega is located about a 40 minute drive, or a few leisurely hours by bike from the ferry. Arrive prepared.
