No problem, or so I thought, as I corrected her. When our order came out, I was handed a grilled chicken sandwich, not a chicken salad sandwich. No apology but she offered to have it made. Evidently, it was not made a priority as it took 20 minutes for the correct sandwich to be brought out. Meanwhile, my three dining companions had long finished their meals.. As the waitress placed it in front of me, she said it was the same as the original sandwich, only with added mayonnaise. The implication seemed to be that I should have just accepted what I was originally brought. We won't be stopping here again ever on our trips to Wallowa Lake.

The decor is fascinating. Part Old West kitsch, part small town charm. Memorials to local regulars who have passed create a special feeling in Cowboys and Angel's. Alicia is the daughter of the owners who cook and run the place with her help and a few other young folks. What a salesperson along with being a fantastic server. Alicia anticipates your needs before you even knew you had them. She put my husband's half-finished (delicious) choco shake into a little cup to go and brought a scissor to trim the straw to avoid poking one's eyes out! Hubs ordered the last homemade maple bar and Alicia warmed it up for him. Super fresh and so good!! I also couldn't help noticing the cinnamon buns the size of a tricycle wheel. To tempt me she gave me a mini size to sample. Don't tell my doctor. I'm not supposed to eat sugar, but that was gooooood! Also warmed up, btw. Moist and buttery cinnamon goodness. For main meals, I enjoyed the taco salad! What a winning combo of seasoned ground beef, fresh (not bagged) romaine lettuce, red onions, olives, avocados, salsa and sour cream on the side. No component was more prominent than any other. Even the sour cream was thick and rich. They fry the shells to order! A first for me and I have eaten many taco salads. Hubby had zero complaints about the cowboy breakfast with a huge ham steak, over easy eggs, hash browns and English muffin. See my pix and drool!
