Love this place in Minnesota the wings are very good the drinks are great and not too pricey

We had our reunion at Cowboy Jack's. Our 2 rooms were nice and the serving staff was great. Drink prices were reasonable. They do keep a credit card while you run a tab and then settle at the end of the evening. Our bill was correct. It is loud in the private rooms. The bathrooms were clean. Our event had fruit, veggies, salad and pizza. They didn't put out silverware until way after the food was setup. It's hard to eat salad with your fingers. The salad was basic and the pizza just average. They also had some cookies and brownies that weren't very good. If you are having an event here you may want to taste the food first. It isn't a bad choice for a group. I rate at 3.5 stars and will round up since the service was really great. read more

We are in Minneapolis to tour Paisley Park and this restaurant was on the parking lot of our hotel. It's an especially attractive building and the inside is even better. I suspect this place is very popular with the locals. The food was great and our waitress, Addison, was fantastic. She was fast and friendly. The only thing I didn't like about this place is even though we were inside, we were absolutely mobbed by flies. My legs were bitten up and they harassed us during our entire dinner. read more

We had supper at C J on 3/17, my friend and I fell ill the next day, we both had a salad, I got food poisoning and continue to suffer. It has almost caused me to lose my transplantation kidney, I will never go to this restaurant again. The service was terrible 1.5 hours for our food to be served. read more

This was your standard sports bar fare, and we happen to hit happy hour. They food was average, and I would go back back to meet up with people, but it would not be a "go-to." I think the most frustrating part of the night was no beer menu. Four of us arrived all at different times within 15 minutes, and four times the waitress had to go through the list of beers. If I am going to a sports bar, I personally want a beer menu, and all four of us were surprised it was not seamless. They have a QR code on the table for the food menu, why not the same for beer. Excellent happy hour prices! 1/2 price appetizers and $2 drinks 3-6 everyday. Love this place. I don't usually stay past 7 as the clientele changes over for the night. But the happy hour is always good. Always a great view of a TV. They'll change the screen you're near to watch what ever sporting event you like. Waitresses are top notch. If there's a restaurant with a worse first impression, I'd like to see it. We arrived at 11:30 for a Monday lunch and were greeted with beer cans in the lot, ash urn at its side near the front entrance, filthy entry door windows. Apparently no one cares what the entrance to the business looks like but I'm hopeful there's greater concern for kitchen cleanliness. The restroom wasn't much different; broken mirror, urinal area nasty and no paper towels...no surprise. Anyway...the Monday crowd was predictably very small. We were approached by the server promptly. We received our drinks promptly as well as our Sloppy Joes, the special of the day. The buns were hardly fresh and the "Sloppy" was slightly over room temperature and pretty bland. Our Tater Tots were fine (but how could anyone screw up Tots?) and thanks to the very low price of the Joes, we were out for less than $19 (plus tip). Our server was a friendly highlight. This place is packed nightly with the happy hour crowd who apparently could care less about the visible cleanliness of the business. There just doesn't appear to be any level of pride in the appearance and, if standards even exist, any degree of oversight by management/ownership. Give it a try if you dare but consider bringing sanitizer. There are other options in the area. read more

By far one of the best steaks I have ever had. All the food was phenomenal and the service was great. Large Portions! If you leave hungry it's your own fault. Worst service i have had in years. Sat at the bar right in front of the bartender. Place was nearly empty and once she finally decided to ask us what we wanted, husband ordered a Hamms and she rolled her eyes at him. Were taken to our table and nobody came for at least 15-20 mins. Waiter with a handlebar mustache and a terrible attitude sort of waited on us i guess. We actually thought he left for awhile. When he would return he would only ask the person closest to him and then just kind of run away so nobody would ask for anything else. Seemed irritated when we asked for waters and came back with one water. For all 5 of us. We actually looked it up to see if we were at a restaurant where they are supposed to be mean to you, like maybe we missed the point. WE HAVE WANTED TO TRY Cowboy Jacks for some time. Nice informal, western theme with plenty of sports tv's all over. We didn't expect a lot, but even at that we were disappointed. Probably because we didn't come in to just drink beer and play pull tabs. I like a sports bar as well as the next person, but I'm not sure that is what they are. Maybe they don't know what they want to be. My wife ordered a vodka martini, straight up. Surprised when it came in a little clear plastic cup (not a martini glass), as did my vodka rocks. The server advised us that the clientele breaks actual glassware (and stemware) so fast they switched to all plastic for everything, especially beer. Plus the drinks were not even full drinks. I know it's really a beer and whiskey place. I had advised my wife to not go the martini route. I had their much touted burger that was at best passable. The tater tots were very good. My spouse had a tater tot hot dish which was passable but not anything to repeat. We would have overlooked everything else had the food been better. All in all a disappointing visit. But I think we are not be the target customer. and the server assured us that the place is a rowdy fun spot on Saturday night. I'm sure we won't go back to find out. We've gone to Cowboy Jacks several times, good service, delicious Walleye dinner. Only once the fish was served practically RAW, inedible. The manager came over and sent the dinner back to be re-done. The 2nd meal came also RAW, wet, slimy, uncooked. We gave it another chance recently and the fish was successful. The reviews are helpful as they give a balanced view, as is ours. We recommend Cowboy Jacks for their service, their noise level is deafening, yes flies around the table, yewww. I still like you guys. My husband and I came last night (a Tuesday) and discovered it was wing bucket night (we prefer the dry rub ) for $5 and bingo starting at 7 pm. What fun and we also were able to watch the MN gopher basketball game on the big screen. Thank you to our server Josh E. he provided great service. We didn't win bingo and the gophers didn't win basketball, but it was a good night. You can't beat $2 1/2 pound burgers on Wednesday nights. The burgers are good, 100% black Angus and served on a bakery fresh bun. Any toppings are an extra .50 cents. The sides you can get with the burger are pretty big for $2.99 and include tater tots, fries, or sweet potato fries. It is a cheapskate's dream. Just be prepared that Wednesdays will get pretty packed and you might have to wait a bit to get in. It is totally worth it. read more

Good Food. Good Service. Good Happy Hour. REALLY SHADY PULLTABS! I was in Bloomington for work and stayed at the hotel across the parking lot from Cowboy Jacks for a week. Since it was the most convenient place to eat (and I liked their food) I sort of became a regular for the week. I really liked the food and the service was friendly and fast. I like to play pull tabs but the pulltab operation there has some pretty shady procedures. I dropped (lost) quite a bit of money on several occasions at night and I came back first thing in the morning to try to get some of my money back since the number of available winning tabs was still good. I found that they had pulled the games first thing in the morning rather than allowing people to continue playing them because the the games were at a higher profit level for them. After talking to a couple of the other "regulars", I found that the profitable games are pulled daily so they can make more profit on the pull tabs (and that is why they do not play there often). So much for being a fair game of chance when they skew the odds and profit to their favor by prematurely pulling the games rather than letting them run their course. Horrible service, poor quality food, and no one cleaned the table. Ordered a pizza. Wrong pizza was served. We asked for the pizza we ordered. Waitress said that we ordered what was served and asked if we wanted to keep it. We said no. We wanted the pizza we ordered. No apology. Other food served was poor quality. The correct pizza was finally served but old plates never cleared. One plate on the table had major chip out of the plate. After more than an hour after finished eating no one cleared the table although more drinks were ordered. Finally asked for the check from the bartender. The manager came over to ask if we wanted to cash out. Gave our credit card, he came back with card receipt but no detail. I asked for the detail and he charged for both pizzas. The incorrect one they took back to the kitchen and the correct one. I had to go back to him and he said he can take care of that. He was rude, no apology. Worst dining experience of our lives. 4th time dining here, and our last. We will never return. Manager spent his time sitting at a table with two young girls. Ignored everything going on around him. Pitiful! Don't waste your time or money. Never reward bad behavior! read more

I'm a Cowboy Jack's fan for life. This is my favorite Cowboy Jack's location...it's spacious, fun, and they have the BEST happy hour in town! Don't forget the mechanical bull and free popcorn! I once saw a dad put his two children on the mechanical bull what at a time, and I'm going to tell you right now folks: bad idea. He sure did not win Dad of the Year. Cowboy Jack's has several locations around the state, so they have a wide customer base. They have a lengthy menu that includes apps, salads, burgers, flatbreads, and dinners. I've enjoyed all of the food I've tried here...and I've been here COUNTLESS times. Whether it's jalapeno cheese curds, their $2 1/2 lb burgers on Wednesdays, flatbread or calamari, I've never had one single complaint. They also have tater tot hot dish (as a meal or an app) that's pretty darn satisfying. They have $2 rails/calls during Happy Hour from 3-6pm, and 1/2 off apps with the Cowboy Jacks logo next to them...their deals can't be beat! I've been here to celebrate a 21st birthday, and if it's your birthday, they give you a free shot...and let me tell you, I tried a small sip of it and it was lovely! Their waiters/waitresses are always helpful and the food here usually come out fast. You may experience a wait time during happy hour, so they take your name, and send you a text when they have a table ready for you. I wouldn't recommend waiting at the bar since the bar is beyond crowded. The ambiance of this place is cool. There is a variety of tables, normal tables and chairs, barrel tops, big cozy booths and a HUGE bar. There are also a couple big rooms with a fireplace, that could make for a fun spot to have a large dinner group or a cowboy grooms dinner, or some similar hideous type event.. BF and I picked this spot on a whim because he had been here before and thought I needed the experience.. just kidding, he knows my love for Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey and this is a spot that serves it. He was just aiming to get his lady liquored up on a Saturday afternoon. Obviously I ordered Stranahan's and he ordered his classic Blantons Bourbon. Which is equally challenging to find. I like my whiskey, ginger style and he likes his bourbon neat. We ordered accordingly. Mine came out just fine, a large glass which filled my heart at the prospect of plenty of whiskey. Unfortunately his came out on the rocks. Even after the W'tress clarified "did you say neat sir?" "Yup, neat" Like a gentlemen, he took his Blantons on the rocks in stride... for those who don't know (under age 21) neat means no ice (rocks = ice). BoyFriend ordered some Texas-eggy wrap thing with tots. It was decent. No complaints. I ordered a pulled beef Sammy with sweet potato fries. No major complaints either. Pretty basic food, there's no Michelin stars coming to this spot, but that isn't their game anyways. The reason for the 3 stars is when the bill came I was taken back. I was charged for the ingredients that went into my whiskey ginger. Weird.. but okay, point taken. This spot shames you when you don't order the goods straight up. I'll take my mixer shaming and swallow it. But here's the kicker... my Blantons boy was charged for ice. Yea, you read that correctly CHARGED FOR ICE.. in his Blantons, that he ordered neat... had we known the mistake would cost money, we would have demanded a correction. In the same vein though.. a Blantons could not be wasted. That's sacrilege. Ultimately the food was too expensive for its overall quality and the weird drink issues left us baffled and disappointed. Buuuuut, the reality is, we will likely be back. They have drinks we like. And a big bar! Next time we will eat before arrival and speak obnoxiously clear when ordering our faves "N O I C E, P L E A S E" The bull was missing, I'm okay with this.. Too much pressure to show off my mad riding skillz.. I am curious what the space will be replaced with though? Hopefully something kitschy. Very good food. I was especially impressed by the interior. If you think it looks good from the outside, you gotta see the inside. You walk in, and you are greeted with a warm friendly smile and a popcorn machine which you can use whenever you'd like. You have a bunch of options on the menu and so many nice looking food to choose from. When your food arrives you get what food looks like in commercials. Everything looked great. Everything tasted great. Filled me up for sure. 9/10 restaurant. One complaint I have is that if you sit at a booth you might have a TV. This TV has no remote or volume option. We pregamed at the hotel thinking we would've had tabs running in the $$$. Hahaha! We were so wrong. Our tab didn't even hit $$$ and we drank a lot. When you go somewhere like Cowboy Jack's, things aren't expensive at all. Location was very central. It took ten minutes to drive there. Not too far. It actually felt a lot faster. The parking lot is huge. We found parking easily. It's a pretty popular spot. We circled the area and found a table. Our server started a tab for us. Drinks were $3. We ordered glasses of wine and cocktails. I'm not sure how much beer was. Appetizers were half price. Amazing! My cousin and I are french fry fiends, so we got the lasso fries. I spotted calamari on the menu and my sister was eyeing it as well, so we got an order. It was all good! This place is super casual. Don't be us and dress up in skirts and heels. Haha. Definitely a pointless wait. Our server was terrible, she checked on us once which was when we were seated by the hostess. We never got any refills or were asked and she never put in our appetizer order. It's unfortunate because we are from out of town looking for a good family meal! We came here last minute and were a bit worried as the parking lot was full but this place is so big we didn't wait at all. Menu was extensive and they had a surprise happy hpur we didn't know about. The waitress was pleasant our food came out fast and was good. I think my only complaint is that they didn't mention the happy hour except while we were ordering as something we ordered was on happy hour otherwise we wouldn't of known. I was really split on making this a 3 or 4 star review. I wouldn't say I am a fan, but it wasn't bad. It was more so just not my crowd, but thats not on Cowboy Jacks, thats just me and my style. The crowd is very eclectic and Cowboy Jacks seems to embrace everyone. I met a friend there one Tuesday Night. The service was quite fast and the drinks were ok, not strong, but not weak. I can't speak to the pricing since my friend actually picked up the tab, but my understanding is that its super cheap which is great! There is ample parking available, which is always a plus. I had been here a few years ago on a Saturday night and it was ok as well. Pricing was not bad and service was good as well. I would return, but I don't know if I would go out of my way for it. read more
