I do enjoy tarragon, although this cocktail was 100% strictly tarragon flavor, I unfortunately did not get anything else. My friends each ordered an IPA and they both immediately said (to me) that it was warm. They did not say anything to the bartender, I'm sure it would have been fixed if they did, but, pouring the beer the bartender should notice it's not ice cold IMO. We sat on the back patio, it literally felt like we were at someone's house, which was nice, although there was ZERO music, which I believe a little background noise is nice. I didn't realize kids were allowed, so as 3 folks going for "Sunday funday", twas not the vibe. TBH, everyone there was over 50, not complaining, just observation. Also, the bathroom is very small, I couldn't imagine if anyone was of bigger stature how they'd fit! And the toilet is so low, I'm a 36" inseam gal and I swear my knees were at my chin going potty LOL. Would I go back? No. Is it somewhere great for a family out on a Sunday? Yes. The food became a bit more paired down and focused more on sandwiches and burgers. BBQ with Asian slaw for example. To start off entering the bar was elegant, it feels high class. The ambiance was dark, intimate and again elegant. We stopped by before heading out to some clubs for the evening for some food and drinks. The drinks were delicious and refreshing. They really do take care of their cocktails. The server was pleasant and attentive, although it was a slower night. However when it came to the food it was disappointing to say the least, for a place when you first walk in that looks classy and upscale, you would expect the food to be somewhat decent. We ordered the dumplings and brisket fried rice. To be short the dumplings were chewy and felt undercooked in terms of steam dumplings. The brisket fried rice was overly salty and the brisket was not at all tender; in fact when I tried to share with it my wife I could not tear it apart with a fork or with even my hands, it felt fatty and chewy. Again, the vibes and general area of the bar was immaculate, I appreciated eating by a candlelight and enjoying some drinks, but when it came to the food I felt underwhelmed. The Tapas Segundos section features some heartier dishes. I came here with my wife. Since there were two of us, our server recommended selecting two dishes from each section. She also mentioned most of the dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered the following items from the main menu: Bikini, Pan Dos Hermanos baguette, Jamon Iberico de bellota, Ensalada de tomate heirloom tomato's, Croquetas De Jamon, and Chuleta Iberico. We're big fans of Spanish tapas and this spot did not disappoint. Every dish was meticulously prepared and perfectly executed. There were items familiar to us such as the croquetas and Iberico Jamon, but they were prepared in such unique and creative ways that we felt like we were trying these dishes for the very first time. My favorite dishes were the Bikini and Iberico Jamon. The Bikini is a tiny sandwich consisting of Jamon Serrano, American cheese, sofrito béchamel, and truffle honey, between two pieces of toasted white bread. Equally impressive was the Iberico Jamon. It had a subtly nutty flavor and addictive oily texture. For dessert, we had both the Torta de Queso, which is a Basque-style cheesecake and the Arroz con Leche, a bomba rice pudding. Based on my research, Navarre also works with 47th Avenue Farms, with specials changing based on what arrives each week. So, getting to sit back and let the kitchen choose ten courses felt especially fitting for Navarre. Instead of deciding what we wanted, we got to experience a little bit of everything. We started with a pâté dish served with green beans and Dijon mustard, which was delicious and had a wonderful savory richness. There was also raw radish with butter, which was a very unique combination! It wasn't my favorite dish of the night, but I appreciated how unexpected it was. The cod over a green sauce was one of my favorites. The fish was excellent, and the sauce really brought everything together. We also had a delicious crab-and-potato cake that paired beautifully with a kohlrabi salad. The meats were excellent as well. The steak was delicious, and the lamb was flavorful and tender, served with what seemed to be a quinoa-like grain. We also had greens and a salad that helped balance some of the richer courses. And then there was the potato gratin. My gosh....flavorful, crispy, and wonderfully comforting. Honestly, potatoes rarely need to do much convincing with me. I loved the variety of the tasting menu.
