I'm not really a dive bar type person but this place wasn't that bad. They have big windows and art on the walls and their fried green tomato burger was awesome. Their french fries are crispy and the burger came with both ketchup and ranch without me having to ask. It was a decently reasonable price for a burger in this economy. All in all it was a good experience and I wouldn't shy away from coming back. No wait to get a table, decent parking in the area, wait staff were friendly, polite, and timely. A mother's day escape. After being a good boy and calling my mum in Germany (since she never callas on mother day I thought I give her a call ). Since Roscoe's do t allow kids inside it's a good place to have a Mother's Day escape - so service was fast as always and food never disappoints. We had the special fish and chips which was delicious just a light breading with a flaky hot fish inside. And I could not say no to the jambalaya with chicken and andouille. This is a dive bar with solid food. The menu has a lot of great southern options. The oyster po' boy is great and the portion is big! The spicy mac and cheese is tasty but it is hot so be aware of that if you order it. Their cornbread is sweet and has a nice texture. read more

I'm still super surprised I've never reviewed Roscoe's before. I've been here a few times and always have an excellent experience. Joe, the bartender today, was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. It was fairly bustling, but I felt well-cared for throughout my experience. I love that Roscoe's had an excellent tap list and a broad range of seating options from outside to inside to by some games to at the bar. It's super cozy throughout! I was excited to grab both sushi and Cajun food at the same place and was not disappointed. Everything was delicious and really hit the spot! Love the NOLA vibe and outdoors seating options. The servers do come by the tables outside so you can also hang out there and be waited on instead of popping in and outside. Have not tried the food yet but the drinks were on brand with NOLA style -frozen daiquiris and margaritas etc! I however have mostly left sugar behind as much as possible so it was my bad getting lured by the passion fruit margarita which was frozen and too sweet for me so I followed w a mezcal soda. My first and definitely my last visit to Roscoe's this past Saturday afternoon. What a disappointment!!!! The Buffalo Cauliflower was drenched in blue cheese and buffalo sauce which was watery. Took 2 bites and left the rest. Side salad was served in tiny bowls-no way to mix ingredients or dressing whatsoever. I may sound picky on this but I am not joking! The only good thing was the Tots. One of the chillest places in Montavilla, Roscoe's is a comfortable, welcoming space with a lot to love. A couple of pool tables, old school bar and decor, great movies playing, and a sizable outdoor seating area all make for a nice way to spend an evening. We didn't get to try anything. We came in on a Saturday afternoon based a reading a positive online review. We had our kid with us. We sat down, we pulled up an online menu, we waited and waited. No one spoke with us or interacted. After a long time we finally walked over and were told children aren't allowed. The we had to drag out an upset kiddo who had his heart set on food. This place has a dive atmosphere but with good food, a wide tap selection, and decent cocktails. The staff is typically friendly and quick to help. They also offer free pool on Sundays! The vegetarian selection of food is nice and they have some of the best fries around although the cheese fries are very messy and the cajun fries are (duh) spicy. The regular fries are great though. I also appreciate their cornbread and their creative drink specials. The place used to be dog-friendly but then some snitch ratted them out and now you can't bring your dog inside. However, giving them a low rating for that is absurd as it's not their fault, it's the damn law. Also, they always have fun art around! read more

Catfish and gumbo were the highlights. The fish was nicely breaded and cooked to perfection; nothing fancy, but the slaw, remoulade sauce, and bun came together just right. The gumbo was perfectly seasoned, and full of sausage bits. The Mac & Cheese was good, but nothing mind blowing. We had 3 drinks, and three tasty dishes for under $60. My wife turned me on to this place knowing I'm a fan of southern food. Roscoe's did not disappoint. I think I've had most of their sliders which include; fried catfish, fried chicken, oysters, and pulled pork. They're served on a soft brioche bun with coleslaw. Their hush puppies are amazing as well. Plus if you're in the mood for sushi, they're setup with the restaurant next door so you can get southern food and sushi at the same time. Perfect! They have a great beer menu that is always changing as well. For a place that has a dive bar kind of feel, this place really serves some outstanding food. read more

This place was YUMMY!! I had the catfish - both fried and blackened. The fried catfish was definitely good. No complaints there whatsoever. But, the blackened catfish - UNFORGETTABLE. It was truly amazing! You get your own water, which I thought was an interesting concept, but hey, I don't mind self service. The servers were super nice. Open bar. The really interesting concept about this place is there is a sushi spot right next door. I think they share a kitchen. (Yeah, the first time I've ever seen this too.) But, you can order sushi from Roscoe's side and have it served to you by a waitress on the other side. Whoever thought of this idea was GENIUS. You get to basically pick the type of food you want but sit a place unfamiliar to that environment. Sushi at a loud, eclectic bar and catfish at a quiet sushi place. Love it! The last time I went, the Sushi part was closed, but I think they were doing renovations. Took my hubby here the next time I went and he was just as happy as I was! This is what I love about Portland. Places like this. We were at the veterinary clinic next door and needed to leave our pet there an hour. We decided to check out Roscoe's. When I opened the door I though this place isn't our normal type of place, but we took a seat. We were helped immediately. It only went up hill from there. We both loved our drinks. Then our food came and it was only a hamburger, fries and Mac n cheese. But both of us quickly said, this food is amazing! I mean I have had all types of Mac n cheese. It is my comfort food when worried. I would love this recipe. My husbands Cajun fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned. The bun on his hamburger was from a local bakery.
