No flavor, no effort beyond putting foodstuffs on a grill. The potatoes are sliced thin then they must be piled high in a corner of the grill waiting their turn to be consumed. Would it hurt to dice an onion or bell pepper to give your peeled russets some flavor besides oil? The pancake? Let's just say, Smuckers syrup in sealed plastic tubs like you were getting them at McDonald's or some fast food joint. Gross. The cakes themselves are lumps of glutenous goo that somehow have even less flavor than the bland home fries. This is a place that values quantity over quality, period. If you are a member of the "Clean Plate Club," you will leave with a full stomach of calorie containing food like substance. As a self-appointed American style diner lover, I have to say, steer clear. If you are in this area looking for breakfast and your only other choice the sad Michaels diner in Douglassville, this is marginally better but you will probably be just as happy if you go to Wawa for breakfast. Probably happier because your expectations will be properly aligned. This place is fun to look at but not to eat at.

We arrived today around 8:30am and were seated in the quiet back room. Our server attended to us quickly, was kind and cheerful throughout, and filled my husband's coffee to the brim multiple times. We ordered our breakfast and it took about 15-20 minutes to arrive. The food was so fresh!! Table orders included the Creamed Chipped Beef atop a Belgian Waffle with a side of Scrapple. And the Lyndon Benedict with Hash Browns. The chipped beef was creamy, not overly salted, actually pretty light. The waffle was fantastic. Slightly sweet, fluffy and thick! The scrapple, fried well. The Lyndon Benedict was so spot on! The hollandaise was well put, not broken not lemony, a nice accomplishment to the perfectly poached egg, with a gorgeous, bright orange, drippy center. Oozed to the sautéed spinach, well done bacon and puffy English Muffin (a real one- not Thomas's). Crisp potato bed of hash browns. This is not a greasy spoon, this diner is dynamite!! This visit ends that tradition. I ordered a veggie grinder. No tomato, no mayo -- that's it, that was the entire modification. My server, who I want to be very clear was fantastic, confirmed she understood exactly what I wanted since she's vegetarian herself and orders the same thing. What arrived was a bun with cheese, pickles, and peppers. Not a "vegetables" sandwich by any definition. When I pointed out this wasn't even close to what I ordered, my server went back to have it corrected -- a completely reasonable ask for a mistake that was 100% on the kitchen. She came back looking rattled and told me the kitchen had yelled at her and refused to remake it, and that I should just pick something else instead. Let that sink in: the kitchen botched an incredibly basic order, got asked to fix their own mistake, and responded by berating their own server and stonewalling the customer rather than just doing their job. This isn't a case of a complicated substitution or a busy kitchen slammed during a rush. It's putting vegetables on a sandwich. The fact that the staff back there couldn't manage that -- and then had the nerve to act put-upon when asked to correct it -- tells you everything about how that kitchen is run. Whoever is managing that line needs serious retraining, because right now they're making their front-of-house staff absorb the fallout for their own incompetence. The server deserves a raise for keeping her composure under pressure. The kitchen deserves to have their heads examined. After years of celebrating birthdays here, we won't be back -- and I'd think twice before ordering anything that requires the kitchen to follow basic instructions.
