Not a bad seat in the house. Layout & facilities good. Nice concessioners & entry staff. Lead parking guy was horrid. Good venue!

Where do I even start…read more I traveled to Ohio for a Drake concert in 2024 and while the show itself was great, there were props and other items blocking my view that made it really hard to see. I contacted Ticketmaster who told me it was the arenas issue. When I reached out to the arena they basically said I should have gone to customer service during the concert. Honestly who even knows to do that in the middle of a show. After several emails back and forth, customer service eventually offered me tickets to another concert as compensation. I picked Justin Timberlake which again required traveling. The night before leaving, the concert was cancelled and rescheduled. Not the arenas fault, but the notice came way too late for me to cancel my hotel. When it was rescheduled, I traveled from Chicago to Columbus and my friend flew in from Houston and while we were literally on our way to the arena the concert was cancelled again. At that point I was beyond frustrated because what are the odds. I had been in communication with LaToya who said she was working with her supervisor to make this right, but after that I followed up multiple times and got completely left on read. I started a new email thread and the last message I got months ago was just sorry. This is a multi million dollar industry and they could not care less about how customers are affected, the costs, the travel, the time, the hotels. It is extremely disappointing and I never heard back again. And now it is 2026 smh. Now the Director, Brook wants to finally respond and flex her muscle. Letting me know its not their fault and basically oh well. I get it its not their lost but they could have said that months ago. Instead of avoiding and ignoring my follow up emails

They're doing great the last few years. A $200 seat at Nationwide for the Bluejackets is about $10 here, less for kids and students. Get there early and grab a seat right beside the ice. Bathrooms and food are across the way in the main building, so plan ahead (and the concessions prices are high.) Also bring a blanket or cushion; metal seats are cold. The games are fun. The crowd is friendly. You can see everything. Parking is free (for games.)

The arena has true character with tons and tons of black and white photographs from many Ohio State sports dynasties from the past I remember when the Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball played here under coach Fred Taylor, Eldon Miller, Gary Williams,. The Value City Arena is the new home and is a great place, but it just lacks the character of St. John Arena. (which is understandable) I've seen many concerts at St. John Arena as well, and there really is not a bad seat in the house, based upon the seating arrangements. The most popular event still held at the arena is the Skull Session, the pep rally before football games. Two hours prior to kickoff of the football game, The Ohio State University Marching Band performs Buckeye favorites, and the players, cheerleaders and coaches speak to the crowd. I really hope that the university does not replace or demolish this wonderful piece of history, in Columbus.

Most of these sports offer free entry and free parking, so this is a great way to see a sporting event! Check on "Bucks on Us" sports at the OSU athletics site for more info on those. The parking is conveniently located in a nearby parking lot just steps away, which is a weird but amazing thing to say about the campus area! The stadium has bleachers, the middle section of which have chair backs. There are clean restrooms and a concession area selling snacks like nachos and popcorn. On our recent visit, we went to a Men's Soccer Game, and it was a great experience. There is plenty of seating, and a large color screen showing the action on the field. Kids can get close to the tunnel where the athletes go through and give them high fives when they are heading into the locker rooms at halftime. Brutus and two Crew Cats were in attendance, walking around and sitting down to fans, sliding down banisters, and giving hugs and high fives. Very fun!

Hmm. My feelings about Ruby have evolved over the years. In…read morecollege I came here often for live music because I had a friend who worked the door. Since that was 10+ years ago, obviously lots of things have changed. I do love the wooden interior. It has more of a classic tavern feel than most of the newer/more cheaply-built bars in the campus area. It has high ceilings and two main rooms, the one you walk into with the bar, and another to the right with a small stage and dance floor/high top tables. The first room has 2 pool tables, which is why I have visited more recently when some of my other go-to pool spots are too busy. Drinks are on the cheap side, with most of your basic options but this is not a spot to expect a specialty cocktail or a super wide variety of spirits. It's not a bad spot for pitchers of beer or your basic shots and mixed drinks. I would definitely rate Ruby higher because I've had great experiences there, but the service lately has been hit or miss. The last time the bartenders refused to change the music to a different channel, insisting on playing country and encouraging us to buy each song we wanted via touch tunes. On this same visit, the staff seemed super unfriendly serving drinks, and another staff member was mopping the floor while customers were still ordering drinks at around 10:30 on a Friday night. I understand that this place tends to close when customers are gone toward the end of the night, but it seemed like the staff really didnt want anyone to be there. I wouldn't think ownership would want staff to be pushing paying customers out on one of the busiest nights for bars. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but if I go in to check if there's a pool table open and notice any of those same staff members from the last time, I might just head home.

I had been to plenty of events when it was the MLS Crew's home field. I personally do not think this is prime real estate for a festival. I parked at a garage at Columbus State and took a shuttle. The drop off area was still a bit of a walk from there to check in and go in. Some of sound was not great for a few of the stages. Some video was spotty too. Only one free water refill station. Thankful for that, but only one area? On a positive note, the bathrooms in the stadium section were clean and operational. I get it, this isn't the main stadium for the soccer team anymore, but things still take place here. Keep the sound and video up to snuff. The traffic was a big problem for a lot of people, planning on the facility, city and promoter have to be more in sync for a better rating if I am to return in future years.

That creaky metal structure actually is comforting, since you don't feel like you're in a historical monument like Ohio Stadium and can relax a little. The expansion of the paved parking area is much appreciated, but the fairgrounds in general is going to need to figure out some way of getting cars in and out faster as the number of large events continues to grow. Aside from the understandable frustration it causes for people attending events, it also clogs up 71 and campus area surface roads. Just arrive early and be patient - and probably hit the restroom on your way out in case exiting the parking lot takes longer than the event you attended.
