We had an excellent experience from the planning to the execution to the payment. Boris is a kind, pleasant professional who works with an older person and a younger person in his crew. Clearly he knows what he is doing, because he has his own company manufacturing the mini-splits. Each mini-split has its own outside compressor box, so you can add more later - they don't all run from the same box. They will work with you in scheduling and placement and such, and they are polite and EFFICIENT. I had to teach a class on Zoom and Boris waited patiently to ask me questions. The price is very fair as well, and when my bank annoyingly only let me send over 1000 dollars per day, Boris was unflappable and did not mind that we paid that way. Another five star review for Boris! What a truly nice guy. I wanted to add a mini split to my garage which we are converting into an office and reached out to several other companies for quotes. I usually got a runaround before finally getting a number, which was usually about twice the amount that Boris has posted directly on his website. How much do I love this price transparency? The price is the price, no runaround. I was a bit worried that his prices were so much lower than the other quotes that we were getting, but so many 5 stars reviews on yelp intrigued me. I decided to research Covac a bit more - the mini split units that they install are manufactured by Covac (no middle man or brand name mark up) and Boris (at least in my case) installs it himself (with a helper). A smart business idea if you ask me. Boris inquired as to the dimensions of my space and we decided on the 12,000 BTU. This was Wednesday and he had an opening for Sunday so I scheduled it. On Sunday, he texted to let me know he'd be arriving closer to the end of my two hour window, then texted again when on the way. When he arrived, we looked at the space together and he gave me suggestions for placement both inside and out, then got to work. It took maybe an hour and looks and works great. We decided to finally treat ourselves to some climate control, since we have been mostly working from home. So glad we hired Covac to put a mini split in our garage office! We got it Installed just in time for a heat wave, which would have prevented us from being able to work. The unit itself has nice features and is so quiet! I had a horrible experience with another company a few years ago and was left with a lemon AC system in our detached office that never worked reliably. We budgeted to replace the entire system and decided to go with CoVac, and I'm so happy we did (and that we decided to move forward with safety precautions in place due to COVID-19). After getting estimates, Boris from Covac was the lowest for mini split a/c. He is very knowledgeable and by asking me information about the sizes of the rooms where I want to put a/c, he was able to give me pricing in writing. He was very upfront with the cost and everything was itemized. He was able to schedule the job in about 2 weeks and was in my house on the exact time that he told me. When he got to my house, he explained and let me decide the best place to install with his guidance. He finished the job in about 5 hours. He explained how to use the remote which he mounted conveniently on the walls. I'm very happy with his work and will use him again to put a unit in my small guest house in the back in the future. I can't believe I have suffered a lifetime of sweltering Alhambra summers without A/C in my house. Getting central air in our 104 year old home would not only be very expensive, but also a massive project. (We have a finished attic so there isn't a way to vent the air throughout the house.) Friends had recommended I get a mini-split, but the BTU's were identical to my portable AC (which does not cool our house whatsoever) so I wrote it off as a waste of money. When my BFF got her mini-split from Covac, I was shocked at what a difference it made in the temperature of her home. I got a quote from Covac and called 5 other companies for comparison. Not only was Covac much cheaper than their competition, but their service was A+ and our mini split works very well. For the 1st summer in my life, my house is FRIGID and my family and I are comfortable indoors! I don't understand why mini-splits work so much better than portable ACs (even though the BTUs are the same), but they do. We haven't gotten our 1st power bill post-installation but our portable AC raised our bill $400/month (and the unit was LOUD) and I expect our bill to be much more reasonable with the mini-split. (My BFFs power bill only went up $100/mo and she had 3 units installed in her home.) I highly recommend Covac for all your AC needs! read more
