So I travel to Boise ID from Vancouver WA on a regular basis. I always leave Vancouver so I can stop at Cousins around lunch. The food and service is always great. Very casual and fun.

Food was ok. They have a good variety of home style country cooking. Our server was very nice but he did forget to bring us several items we ordered, didn't bring drinks until we reminded him when our food came, and put in the wrong side order for my partner's meal. Lots of seating inside and we were seated after a short wait. We got dessert to go and those were good.

Very good service and comfortable inside. We sat in the bar area. I had a burger. It's was good. Kinda messy which is not bad, but fall apart in your hands messy. Maybe a firmer bun would be food.

Food was pretty good. Our waitress wasn't the best. She didn't bring my biscuit that came with my chicken fried steak, tried to find her to tell her and she didn't return til the end of our meal, at that point too late to eat it with our meal. Cinnamon roll was big and delicious. The sausage patties as well are good. Pancakes are big and fluffy! The decor is old time western which was liked!

We have past this place many times. This will be a place we will stop more frequently because it is great service and great food! They really make you feel like your family!!

Turkey dinner with dressing, potatoes and gravy. Absolutely delicious and filling.

This place makes as many things homemade as they can and it shows. My salad dressing was homemade, my Turkey dinner was delicious. The server told me just to ask for any extra gravy or anything I needed. My son and husband got burgers and my husband said it had been ages since he had a good burger. We were offered free fry refills but we didn't take any because we were so full. Honestly we rented our room for another night just to hang out, rest and have some more delicious, homemade food. Oh and so far the staff have been absolutely fabulous. This will be our regular stop when we travel this way for work or leisure.

Have been to Cousins many times over the years and have tried quite a few dishes. It's a great stop when passing through the gorge in either direction. It's an old fashioned sit down place with country fare and homestyle decore. You are greeted arlt the door by the sounds of farm animals...very cute and makes us laugh every time. Staff is warm and welcoming and we usually never have to wait to be seated. The convenience of Cousins can't be overstated. Hungry travelers will be well dlfed and leave with full bellies. Burgers are good, biscuits and gravy pretty standard, and their omelets are decent. The cinnamon rolls are the real star of the show and need to be shared. They are massive! We will continue to make Cousins a stop when passing through The Dalles.

We stopped into this place on our way back from the Oregon Coast. Service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant was fairly full and seemed busy. The biscuits and gravy were the special of the day, and they were tasty. The feel of the restaurant is that of a country diner, which suits the area. If you stop here you won't be disappointed.

Love the customer service here! Nicole was our fabulous server . I didn't see exactly what I wanted but our server helped me make a delicious dish that was excellent:) love this friendly delicious restaurant. Best biscuits in town!

    Gawd's Tots. Yummy!
    Valerie B.

Thank gawd for the tots. His Salmon Caesar Salad had a piece of farmed salmon about the size of his thumb. My burger patty was inedible- fried to a crispy hockey puck. Even my dill pickle on the side was deformed- like a broken pinkie. Nice waitress. If you come, get the tots! They'll save the day! EDIT: Hubby said the Heinz Tomato Ketchup was sublime. It made him forget the disappointment he experienced with the salmon.

We came in on Memorial Day for breakfast and Cousins' did not disappoint! We were told beforehand that we could be sat but would have a little bit of a wait before we were helped. That wait was so quick and only 5 minutes! Both the service and food were amazing.

    Stampede Burger, Cousins French Fries

Friday night was a bit busy. So rather than wait for a table in the dining room, I opted for the self-seating at a small table in the "Saloon". I ordered the Stampede Burger with fries & tartar sauce. The burger would've been better cooked closer to medium with a little pink in the middle. Mine was fully "dead", and just wanting to veer into the tough side of cooked. But, it was still pretty darn tasty. Seemed like a solid 1/3 pound patty, with a good slice of cheese and enough mayo and barbecue sauce to necessitate extra napkins. Fries were perfect, and the tartar sauce had a nice hint of pickle to it. A tad expensive at $18, but I did quite like it. Staff all were super friendly, as has always been my experience there when I'm traveling through. Your mileage may vary, but I've never had a bad meal there yet.

The shop footprint is massive! So to set expectations, the ice cream shop is new and just getting started. So the space is far larger than what is currently needed for the ice cream counter. The business is run by a mom and daughter and they plan on adding a full coffee bar and soda fountain with video and arcade games in the back. For now it's just ice cream and they had about 2 dozen flavors - all the usual suspects like salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, java, Rocky Road, etc. Prices are very reasonable - 1 scoop is $3.95 with each additional scoop costing an incremental $2. With so many gourmet ice cream shops in Portland that sell one scoop for $6.95, this felt like a bargain! On a hot summer day, my waffle cone with a scoop of salted caramel and a scoop of java was just the refreshing treat I didn't know I needed! Oh, and service was super friendly, offering tastes and serving with a smile! Small town charm as it should be. Clearly the owners intend for this to be a warm and welcoming place for friends and families to gather with affordable offerings and fun activities. Once their plan materializes, I hope it will become a destination spot and not feel like a take out ice cream shop in a massive space. For now four stars, but I will definitely go back and re-evaluate when the coffee bar opens.
