Food was excellent but service was extremely slow. We had to ask three times for our waitress. Took forever to get a drink order in and by the time they took the drink order, asked if they could get it too us soon and then it still took forever to get drinks. Ridiculous amount of time. read more

I ordered an omelette with the sausage, I only ate about half. The waitress asked if I wanted a box and I said no thank you I didn't really like it. She promptly asked if anything was wrong with it? I said no the sausage is just too much sage for my personal taste. She offered to have it remain without the sausage, I again declined as I had ate enough. She asked if I would like to speak to the manager. I assured her I was in no way upset and most people love it, it just was not how I preferred it. The service is always fast and friendly! I have been a few times and never disappointed with anything. read more

My cousins and i have been coming here for many years for our summer lunch, we have always had a great time , with plenty of space to sit and visit and have a nice meal, however the past few times have not been that, this week we asked for corner back table and had to explain why we needed a larger table , personal reasons, our cousins are larger women and need more space , after a wincing hostess we were finally seated , we ordered our drinks and were served in timely manner, my margarita was clear and had absolutely no taste of alcohol, i let that slide due to not wanting to make a scene, our food came , cold gravy on stuffing and turkey, however, the worst was the giant long black hair underneath the vegetables Served on my plate, i pulled the hair out and disposed of it on the floor after showing my party , very disgusting, when the waitress returned i told her , she wanted to reserve me and remake my plate , we were all served together so knowing this i said no , my stomach was really not feeling the food after seeing the hair, i told her she should have the cook wear a hair net and her reply was , he's bald , so looking at a messy pile of dark hair piled on her head i related that it must have been hers, my sister ordered a burger without onions , came with onions, with no reply from the waitress, my sister pulled the onions off, my cousin both ordered moscow mules that were equally non alcohol in taste. The waitress took $4.00 off my order for the hair , which was basically an insult to me . Maybe a health department needs to do a visit . A very disappointing lunch , probably will need to find a new restaurant for our lunches in the future. read more

Cousins' - Sandwiches Near Me - The Dalles, Oregon

Food was homey and delicious, good portions, and friendly staff. Had some terrific candied bacon, waffles were great, syrup is heated, overall a good experience. Now for the bad - annoying animal noises made by the door to announce your presence and do not order coffee. It is the classic restaurant dishwater - in an age where Starbucks has shown us what coffee can and should taste like, it's shocking that restaurants like this continue to pour swill and call it coffee. Do better! read more

I love this place. The entire atmosphere is excellent, even beside a busy road. It has a very homey feeling, and everyone who works there is so lovely. Not to mention the fantastic food, the massive portions, and everything tastes so good. The menu has a great selection without being too much so you know that everything will be made with care. Overall amazing, this is a NEED to go to! read more

Have been here many times over the years. Great home style food, large portions and always has a friendly staff. We have always enjoyed the decor glad the John Deere still has its place. Also a great place for meetings and has a large bar too read more

It's a restaurant with farm animal statues outside and farm animal sounds playing randomly over the speakers outside so that helps set the scene for what to expect. Pure Dalles perfection. I've eaten here twice, both times on the bar side, once for taco night which was fine though the taco meat was oddly lukewarm .. I expected hot tacos on taco night. Last time I got the reuben and holy crap it absolutely slaps! I was so surprised, one of the best reubens I've ever had. Service is fine enough but I'm telling you to get. the. reuben! It turned this from a 3 star to a 5 star for me. read more

Really tasty down home food options. We loved the french onion soup. We would definitely stop again next time we are driving through The Dalles! read more

I have been here twice so my review is only based on two times. The restaurant seemed clean and the server was good. Covid guidelines seemed to be followed. I believe the food was average with large servings. This is not a destination by any means but it definitely fills you up. The price is right and the restaurant is right off of the freeway. I will be returning next time I am in the area. read more

Chelsea made this experience for us. As a tired parent of 3 kids she knew EXACTLY what we needed, was timely, kind, understanding. We got seat 50, parents this is the spot to ask for, plenty of space for the kiddos to be kids. The food was great but our incredible service shone above the delicious food. read more

This is a real cool old school type restaurant in The Dalles. it is adjacent to a very old outdated hotel (than God it was just me and not w my wife), which seemed family oriented nonetheless The outside of the restaurant is decked w a farm country theme, w an old fashion riding pony were you put quarters in for a ride. It had huge Rooster, cow, and pig fixtures like one would see on Route 66 (Cali) or in a Hollywood movie. Even has an old (early 1930s) vintaged tractor in the front of building! The bar area w TV, bar stools, and good amount of tables to drink, eat, chill. The bar tender ladies were very efficient and attentive. Made me feel welcomed as a solo patron. I ordered a Club sandwich w Fries to go, it was good as one would expect in a relic landmark restaurant like this. My only regret is that I didn't have the breakfast, because from what I saw on the Menu and on the prior Yelp pictures, I definitely will be back to this place-- just for the experience of old Americana. read more

My husband and I both decided that breakfast/lunch at Cousins sounded good yesterday - bad idea. I immediately sent back my eggs and breakfast potatoes as both were cold. Just a few minutes in the microwave helped. Then the first bites of the Chicken Fried Steak was such a disappointment. This was not a normal $20 breakfast! It seemed more like a fast food chicken patty with gravy. Definitely not the quality of food I remembered! Next time (if there is one) we will try a burger. Yes we should have talked to the manager! Definitely not quality we remembered sorry to say. read more

We have lived in the dalles for a couple of years and our first time trying out Cousins for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. The cinnamon roll is so good! It's pretty big so you'll have some for later. The biscuits are amazing - so soft and buttery! We look forward to coming back another time and trying out their dinner menu!!! read more

Food was OK nothing special but lord someone needs to dust this place the trains and nick knacks and antiques above the tables are gross with so much dust on them it was unsettling for my tummy! few days later went to Mamma Janes which also has a lot of decor and there was not a speck of dust anywhere and the food was better. Clean it up Cousins... Just Yuk! read more

Charming place and lovely service. Clean restroom. First pic is the Columbia Gorge Omelet, which started out super, until I found a hair in it. Howdy Cousin! Nope, you're not at a hoedown family reunion, you're at the WORLD FAMOUS Cousins restaurant and bar. Wow I wish there was an old fashioned diner as good as this one somewhere near where I live. I've been here multiple times and I've never been disappointed. This time I ordered a Chicken Pot Pie. Deeeelicious! In fact, quite possibly, the best pot pie I've ever eaten. The Gnocchi soup that came with it was ridiculously delicious too. In fact, a bowl of that soup, instead of a cup, would make a satisfying meal of it's own. Give Cousins a try. If you're looking for a diner with excellent, traditional American food, Cousins is the place to go in The Dalles. read more

Soup had nice flavor, just a bit too thick on the cheese. If you are a lover of that much cheese, this could be a plus for you. Husband had chicken tenders and he said they were really good. The bleu cheese is really good. We sat in the bar and it was a manager that served us. I ordered the soup and he seemed surprised I didn't order more. Because he said Is that all?? I said yes and he said Are you sure?? It was off putting at first but he quickly recovered because the rest of the interactions were great. read more

First time visiting this restaurant while we had some business at the Dalles. We got to the restaurant around 6:15 pm on a Monday. We got seated in couple minutes. Although the restaurant was pretty busy but not full, we were seated next to a table of six. We asked to seat at a booth and we were directed to three empty booths. I think the server should have asked us for our reference. I order the Reuben sandwich and my husband had the regular pot roast. The pot roast was tender but the mashed potato and vegetable didn't add much to the dish. My Reuben sandwich was very tasty. It came with melted cheese and the meat was full of flavor. It came with a very crunchy dill pickle. The fries were not too exciting. Our waitress (or should I say cousin) Lauren, was so sweet and friendly. She was probably the most polite waitress I have ever had. I should have counted the numbers of thank you she said to us. She even offered us a loaf of wonderfully fresh and fluffy bread. We are not sure if our meal come Witt it or not. Then she offered to give us a loaf and butter to go! Now that's is good customer service. Lauren... A job well done!!! read more

First time here. The gals at the front counter are very sweet. Our waitstaff "Joel" was very cute and very attentive. Wanted to make sure that all of our needs were met. My steak was tender and very flavorful the mashed potatoes Also we're very flavorful with butter however the green beans tasted like they were frozen very bland. I really wanted a piece of coconut cream pie but they sold out. To me that with me in the pies are outstanding so give it a try. read more

We stopped in for breakfast while the Tesla was charging just around the corner. We decided on the buffet to save time. To compare to buffet food standards, the food was very good. They had great variety and it all was hot and well maintained. The bacon was crispy but not burnt. I especially enjoyed the delicious cinnamon roll. What made the experience exceptional was the server. He was extraordinarily friendly and nice. He makes you feel like he's your long time friend you haven't seen in a while. The food was good and timing perfect for those of you whole are Tesla drivers. Highly recommend. read more

Have eaten there several times and have no serious issues. The place is clean, the staff friendly, the food - most always decent. Their menu shrunk and being pescatarian, already difficult to find edible meals so decreasing their menu makes ordering a tad more difficult but my partner (carnivore) never has a problem. His fav are the wings and goes there specifically for them - me, always the salmon. Being open 7 days a week is definitely a plus (The Dalles is an 80 mile round trip for us) - the closest for medical, shopping, and dining when there. Cousins' is stable, dependable, and reasonably good... doesn't disappoint! read more

Old reliable I have probably Eaten here at least a dozen times over the last 7 years and they have consistently served good food. The breakfast menu isn't that big but it does cover the basics. I like the fact that they give you a mini cinnamon roll while you are waiting for your food and they know how to roll. If you drink alcohol you have to try their Bloody Mary, they really load it up. read more

9:00pm Oct 24, 2018 Jen rocks the bar. As soon as I walked in I was greeted, even while she was pouring beers. She smiled, took my order promptly. Soon after the pot pie was delivered. Three bites in she did her quality check. I originally sat at the restaurant. Was given a booth with water on table. No wiping. Saw menu, made my choice....but. crickets. The two servers were more interested in their chit chat. That's when I moved to the saloon and my experience improved. Come visit Jen, at the saloon. read more

Low key, cozy. No fancy food but if you try the turkey, biscuits, or chicken fried steak: best in the area!!! good prices & great helpings. This was an interesting restaurant. The decor reminded me of Cracker Barrel. The food was pretty good. We had breakfast. Eggs, bacon, and toast. I give it a 3 stars. I love the liver and onions; mashed potatoes and gravy; dinner roll with butter; and garden salad with blue cheese. I had the berry lemonade. Just passing through town. We have been through before and remembered how good they were. Hubby's steak cooked perfectly. The breakfast ham was amazing. Poached eggs cooked perfectly. Scrambled eggs were rubbery on the outside and folded over to some undercooked ( a little surprised by this). Service was perfect by Stephanie. Very friendly and checked in is just enough. The only thing that really got to me was the hostess that walked a couple of older women through the restaurant and of the women were not wearing a mask. She should not have been able to come through with a mask. COVID-19 is real. Please be considerate and conscientious of everyone. Bummed. read more
