We had a good stay at the Courtyard by Marriott High Point. Based on our experience, we'd stay here again. The hotel was clean and comfortable with easy parking and good service. During our stay, Courtyard High Point met the standard I expected of the Courtyard brand. We stayed in Room 419 on the 4th floor (top floor). It had a king bed and a sofa bed. For four nights, I spent 82,654 United Airlines MileagePlus award miles (cleared out my account) plus $419.96. I booked through United's website / United Hotels. I found this hotel through United because I was trying to use up all my miles. As an American Express Platinum card member, I have Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status without meeting any stay requirements. That said, I didn't notice nor took advantage of any of the Gold Elite benefits. I was supposed to receive a "welcome gift of points upon arrival" (none were posted to my account, which I had linked to the reservation), late checkout up to 2pm (didn't need it), and a complimentary upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in (didn't happen); subject to availability. Standard check-in and check-out times are 3pm and 12pm, respectively. As a Gold Elite, I'm also supposed to get faster free in-room Wi-Fi. I didn't get that either. I just connected to the standard free Wi-Fi, which was fine / usable, but I would've preferred faster internet. I called the hotel ahead of time to verify details and spoke with Toni. She was wonderful. Super nice and a shining example of excellent hospitality and customer service. Courtyard High Point is lucky to have her. The other staff that we interacted with were polite and professional. Our room was very spacious. It had an unusually long and wide entry area / hallway leading to the bed and sitting area; ideal for spreading out our luggage. We had a view of the old Oak Hollow Mall and parking lot. Part of the mall we could see is now the Roy B Culler Jr Senior Center, named after the former mayor of High Point. I went to his house when I was a kid and saw his elaborate model train set, but I digress. The bathroom was spacious as well. Outstanding shower water pressure. We had a microwave, mini fridge, and Keurig machine. Unfortunately, there was no free coffee in the lobby so we had to rely on Keurig coffee each morning (not our preferred coffee). Bummer. A lot of hotels in this tier offer fresh, hot, free coffee in the lobby. Cleaning service was every other day. There was one day when I had to go downstairs and ask for more Keurig K-Cup pods. The couch (sofa bed) in our room looked dingy and grossed us out a bit. I liked the bed and thought it was pretty comfy, but it wasn't the comfiest among hotel beds we've slept in recently. My wife said it was lumpy. The nightstand USB and power outlets didn't stick well, so they didn't work reliably and charge all of our devices (kind of annoying to charge a phone on the desk on the other side of the room). Overall, the room amenities were OK. My wife commented that it was dated and looked mid-2000s. Oak Hollow Mall officially closed on March 10, 2017 and was a shell of its former self before then. Therefore, the immediate area around the hotel is very quiet. The nearby Target is a plus. I remember when the High Point University building next door used to be a Circuit City. Family wedding weekend and this Courtyard was the host hotel for at least 20 of our family from out of town. They were incredibly accommodating. From making sure we had the welcome bags from the wedding couple to ensuring our check-in was flawless, this Courtyard was a treat for the weekend. -Beautifully decorated with great color palette. Big TV to watch some college ball while drinking wine. Really enjoyed the Tom Gore Chardonnay too. They had two size options too which was nice. -comfortable room. Very clean and great black out curtains! Frig in room so we could store some waters and snacks. -Very friendly and courteous staff, especially our bartender at The Bistro! It get very busy there and we never had to wait very long. -Check-out : there were two charges on my bill that did not belong to me. The front desk manager took the time to research the bill and found out that the room number looked like my number but it was a different signature so she removed the charges from my room and made sure the true owner had the charges put on their bill. What a dump!!! Don't be fooled by the renovated Lobby that's the only area that is cleaned The rooms are old dated and disgusting. Thank goodness they don't offer breakfast or coffeee. Nothing is complimentary not even cleaning. Yuck! read more

Totally inept management directing an incompetent staff. Stay elsewhere. After calling to say be sure housekeeping replaces the empty body wash dispenser in my bath i returned at 5 p.m. to find my room not serviced followed by a nonplussed front desk clerk saying there was no one to service the room. So down I go to speak with the manager to discover oops. There is no manager. The manager had "left early". Get the picture? Save yourself some consternation.....book elsewhere. Took my wife here for a little staycation and we couldn't be happier. We're locals, so we have realistic expectations for High Point and the Courtyard Marriott far surpassed them. Large open public area with fantastic decor. Decent professionalism at the front desk. Basic King room was roomy and included a modern looking sofa/loveseat (pictured) that was perfect for chilling and sipping tea or coffee. The bistro was great for breakfast. Cafe quality Starbucks drinks and plenty of healthy food options. We love arugula . Everything was affordable as well. read more

The check in and check out are a piece of cake, the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and tidy and the food and service in the lobby restaurant meet expectation every time. Courtyard is reliable and consistent! We just pulled off the highway into High Point NC and knew we would be comfortable at Courtyard. The only negative I would say if I HAD to come up with something is the "no cash" policy to pay for the room and the $12 Caesar Salad from the bistro. We checked in on the later end of the evening, and the concierge could actually direct us to somewhere to eat that was still open (something another hotel couldn't do too easily a few days before). The room was clean, staff was friendly, and there were free fresh cookies at the front desk. The only drawback imo is that it sits in a mall plaza. Otherwise, it was a fantastic stay on our road trip. read more

Very nice Courtyard! The location is close to HPU and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Check-in is always smooth and the hotel staff are very friendly. They have a very decent free breakfast in the morning and they have a nice bar and sitting area to unwind after a long day on campus. Much like most other HPU families, this is our go-to hotel whenever we're in town. read more

Comfortable bed and pillows, nice lounge, they serve Starbucks, and the AC got fairly cold. The only problem was our AC made a loud noise when it turned on. Other than that I highly recommend it. read more

We have stayed at other Courtyards around the country but we weren't impressed here. While our surfaces, linens and bathroom appeared clean, there was trash on the floor, a very dirty AC vent, and an article of clothing was left on the floor by the back of the sofa. On our way out we used our ice bucket liner to grab the clothing and brought it to the front desk without complaining but we were a bit grossed out, the desk employee apologized. Then a few hours later upon our return another front desk employee caught up to us to apologize for the condition of the room and told me our room would be discounted and they would make it right, we thanked them and felt a bit better about everything. Upon our departure the next morning, the front desk supervisor was unaware of the previous mentions to make things right. Instead of an offer to do so, she said they would give us Marriot points on our account towards the cost of a future room rental. We were disappointed in their offer but we were on our way somewhere special and didn't have time to make a deal out of it. We don't go looking for "something for free" but having experience in customer service, we genuinely appreciate when a company makes things right when business is not up to industry standards. Overall, the facility was clean and well run. Having a built-in "we serve Starbucks" and spirits lounge was nice as well. The comfortable couches and large TV was great for watching hockey with family members. The only real negative was that the wifi on the 2nd floor was terrible; and this place is a dead spot for Sprint coverage. I really felt cut off from the digital world (maybe not a bad thing?). read more

I am a Marriott Rewards guy. This lobby is one of the nicer that I have seen for Courtyards. The bed is nice, staff is friendly, and the gym is small but has at least a few things in it. This location is central to everything I need- I will come back. read more

Very nice rooms. Hotel staff at front desk, Hansell, very polite and professional young man. Cute Bistro in the lobby serving wings, Sandwiches,etc. Wine and other refreshments available. My wife and I stayed at the Courtyard High Point while on leisure travel. We enjoyed a modern hotel with an impeccable room. The highlight of our stay was the warm welcome and speedy, professional check-in we received from Hansell on the front desk.
