It was one thing Carrick was…read moreseriously lacking as there weren't many places where you could just go for a relaxed coffee and catch up, particularly later on in the day when the cafes had closed for the day. Creed is surrounded by glass walls so you can see inside the relaxed and tastefully decorated shop as you drive past, however the lighting inside is muted so you can see everything comfortable without it being intrusive. I finally visited for a cup of tea with a friend about 6 weeks after it opened, and the experience was great. In the area where the shop is, there are two other businesses, a flooring shop and a pizza takeaway. There is enough parking to cover the three as long as things don't get too busy, and it's a short walk from the front door. We got a seat no problem when we arrived, and got served straight away. I just had the berry tea which came served in an infuser, and it was beautiful, my friend had a coffee. We didn't eat this time, but I saw a fantastic range of pastries, tray-bakes and sandwich options, so will definitely make a point of going back for food soon, particularly as I follow them on Facebook, and the salads they post up look absolutely divine! They also have some really comfy leather couches, great if you aren't in a rush and want to just chill out and watch the world go by.

Whether it is a post night out fry up, pre-cinema dinner, or Sunday night meet up with friends for a hot chocolate and slice of cake, Springsteens meets all of our requirements with ease. The style of the restaurant is that of an American diner - it is spacious and very well laid out. The seating arrangements are pew-like booths, which allows for a comfortable relaxed envioronment where you can chat with friends and not feel like other patrons are listening in! The menu will suit people of all tastes, aside from the usual 'American Diner' type burgers, fries and shakes, there are options such as soups, club sandwiches, wraps, and my personal favourite, a number of Mexican options, such as Burritos and Chimichangas. Drinks wise, this is a licensed premises, and as such can purchase alcoholic beverages in addition to tea, coffee, and soft drinks. All of the food is reasonably priced, and the portions are huge, you will not go hungry after eating here! Last but not least, and the reason why I give this establishment the full five stars, is the service. The staff at Springsteens in Carrickfergus are always cheerful and helpful, facilitating any special additions or changes to our order without any fuss (I'm one of those annoying customers who always wants my order slightly different to how it is on the menu) The staff always get the balance just right, checking how the meal is shortly after serving, and noticing when drinks are running low and offering refills, but without being overly intrusive to our dining experience.

Mouth watering diner style dishes are to be enjoyed with a beer or whatever you fancy. They even have thrown into the mix some local dishes as well; for example you get a great Ulster Fry any time of day so forget about the colesterol levels and go for it! Finish off with one of their hot beverages or something from their ice cream selection.

The Sunday menu had a great selection with 2 courses £18.99 which was worth it. I had the fresh cod with crab risotto and the desert of sticky toffee pudding with their homemade ice cream and left very satisfied. Staff were prompt, food was well presented and tasted good and overall the venue was nicely decorated with live music being played. Would recommend if you fancy an escape from Belfast!

I have eaten at it's sister restaurants, Balloo House and The Parsons Nose and loved both so I was happy to complete the hat-trick! The opportunity presented itself with a family double celebration, a 30th wedding anniversary and a birthday. Two great reasons to book a table. The restaurant is based in Lisbane in what used to be Lisbarnet House and is really quaint with quirky interiors. The staff are friendly and helpful, quickly offering to stash the surprise cake that I had brought along. We were presented with two menus, one for Sunday lunch and one for the weekend brunch options, both offering plenty of choice. Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of splitting starters when I cant decide so my first mission was to get someone to agree to share. Mission accomplished, we chose to share the Chicken liver parfait with rhubarb chutney & sourdough bread and the Goat's cheese crostini with candied walnuts & honey. The goat's cheese and rhubarb combination worked really well but for me, the winning choice was the smooth, creamy flavoursome pate- delicious. For my main, I played safe and chose the roast beef- always a good choice for Sunday lunch. A huge portion of beef appeared in front of me along with a sizable Yorkshire pudding and plenty of roasties. A variety of vegetables came on the side. While this was delicious, I will admit that the quantity on the plate defeated me. Another popular choice at the table was the shellfish linguine, prawns, crab, cockles and chorizo cream- jam packed with flavours. While I was too full to order a pudding, I managed to procure a spoon to sneak a taste of both the selection of icecreams and the Buttermilk Panna Cotta, strawberries and cookie crumble- delicious! If you are looking for a great quality Sunday lunch with fabulous food and a great location, look no further. Give the Poacher's Pocket a try!

They have a large range of delicious locally produced ice-creams available, but this is always the one of choice for me. The shop also offers a range of handmade chocolates that you can but in a pack, or make up your own bespoke package to give to someone as a gift. There is also a coffee shop where you can enjoy a range of teas, coffees, biscuits and other sweets, if ice-cream is not really your thing.
