As my brain freeze starts to fade I feel I am now in a good position to write a comprehensive review of one of my new favourite places in Belfast.
I'll start off by explaining the concept, because when we firstly walked in we were a little confused. When you enter the shop don't go to the counter, head straight to the back. That's where you pick up a small, medium or large tub. You then progress to the Frozen yoghurt machines where you get to live out all your childhood dreams and become Mr Whippy (the Fro Yo version). In other words you get to choose your flavours of yoghurt and there's quite a selection. You can choose from Peanut Butter, Mixed Berry, New York Cheesecake, Salted Caramel, Cookies and Cream, Mint and Vanilla. You can mix and match but in retrospect I wish I hadn't of because when it starts melting it just becomes one big flavourless mash up - so take my advice and stick to one theme of flavours. Next up is the exciting bit where you get to load your tub with toppings. This is where we really see what sort of person you are - yes this is more than just a Frozen Yoghurt, this is character definition. So you could go for the summer fruit toppings which I suppose is relatively healthy or you could walk on the wild side and opt for a mountain of sweets! The toppings include peanut butter pieces, gummy bears, sprinkles, M &M's and so much more - I could go on but I'm afraid I'll drool on my keyboard.
So how is this charged I hear you ask, well, the amount you pay is based on how heavy your tub is so the more sweets you pick the more it's going to be. To give you an idea we picked 2 medium tubs at a weight of 0.6kg and this came to £10.40. I know this is starting to read like a maths problem but stay with me.
You can sit in although Spoon Street is quite small - we visited after 8pm and there were no seats available - but don't worry, it doesn't really matter where you eat your tub you'll be too consumed with the flavour and balancing your mountain of toppings to care where you are! read more
