Just around the corner from my house, I knew I had to try Fusco's after all the rave reviews I had heard. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the sunshine to come out and give me an excuse to enjoy some ice-creamy goodness. I mean you just look mental if you eat ice-cream in the cold, right? After sampling the dee-lites of Italian gellati's last summer, me oh my, they are a thing of wonder. Fusco's don't really have any exotic flavours, they're more about the classic flavours- like vanilla, choc-chip, honeycomb and the yummy mint choc-chip (my favourite). They have all manner of sprinkles and marshmallows to adorn these scrumptious flavours. A pretty yummy experience, but not sure if Fusco's is living up to the hype.

Spoon Street - Dairy free watermelon sorbet with fruit balls, quite frankly it's delicious...

About this time last year I photographed the unfinished shop front of the Ann Street Spoon Street…read morewith its "opening soon" sign in the window for 40 Days Of Belfast. https://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/40-days-of-belfast-belfast?select=xScgVCe1OBwdgRbZNn4ybA Then I went on holiday for 2 weeks and when I came back it was still at the "opening soon" stage. Eventually it opened and became a welcome addition to the city centre. I worked my way around the flavours, generally only taking two of them or even just one. Of all the toppings, I only tend to go for blueberries (and occasionally, kiwi) and nuts. Actually, I don't really want a lot of the froyo because I'm as prone to headaches as I am with ice cream. No, I just want a little froyo as a topping for the blueberries and nuts. Now somebody mentioned spillage. Well, after a little experimentation, I soon realized that the thing to do is to put as much of the nuts and blueberries into the tub first and then literally squirt the froyo as a topping. If only the nut spillers referred to in the other review would do the same, there wouldn't be such a cross contamination risk as the froyo on top just sits there, unless of course you have too much for the size of the tub. I didn't do it today, though, as it doesn't make a very good photo that way.

I visited last week and thoroughly enjoyed it, trying the dairy free lemon (quite tarte) and watermelon (sweet tasting) options which the staff told me were dairy free because they are fruit based sorbets. These sorbets have a richer, creamier consistency than traditional sorbet, being more like whipped ice cream. All the usual toppings are available ranging from healthy fruits to sweets and chocolates. I did notice there seemed to be fewer flavour options in the city centre location than at Newtownards Road. Perhaps more seating space and less dispensing machines. I will definitely return, but as it's now October, it may be the summer months before I visit this or any other frozen yogurt bar again. The novelty of frozen yogurt is beginning to wear off a bit for me. Also who wants to eat such cold food during icy winter months?! Fabulous when summer sun is shining, but possibly not an all year round activity. Maybe they should diversify into mulled wine over winter time...

I've just discovered this place on the Stranmillis Road in Belfast (they also have a shop in the…read morefoodcourt in Castlecourt). My friends told me about it and I feel compelled to share the good news! So as the name suggests, it is a milkshake bar... and they also serve the odd cupcake. You can take out, or there are a few seats for sitting in. The decor is 50's diner style, bright pastel colours and really fun. But the main draw is the amazing milkshakes. They serve every kind you can imagine, blended up with good quality icecream and milk (none of that horrible flavouring added to milk lark). The menu is vast, so to take the pressure off deciding, they have a selection of house specials like the Elvis (peanut butter, chocolate and banana anyone?!) Or you can just opt for your favourite chocolate bar, blended up with icecream, which is what I did. I chose the Boost... it was delicious. Straight after I had finished, I wanted another one. I must warn you that once you have visited Got Milkshake? you will quickly become addicted! Ok, so the idea may be a bit gimmicky and I'm not sure how long their idea will remain unique, but the milkshakes are truely delicious and the price is pretty reasonable too - £2.60 for a regular, £3 for a large. The setting is great, right in the heart of Stranmillis village so a handy pittstop after a day of sunbathing in Botanic Gardens, or as a nice end to a meal. Like most good things in life, the milkshake bar is probably best in moderation. But great for a treat, a fun date, or the ultimate hangover cure. Enjoy!

Right, so the first thing I need to confess is that I don't actually like milkshakes, which makes…read moreit hard for me to review this place. However. It also sells cupcakes, and I am very well versed in the art of cupcakes! The cupcake I got the other day had ball bearings on it, which I love (I mean, it's edible metal!) Got Milkshake is quite a cute little cafe, with a 1950s vibe about it. It's really small though, so there are only a few tables in it. I couldn't really imagine sitting there for ages, so for me, it's more a get it and go place. The milkshakes themselves were popular with my friends though, and with so many ingredients on offer, you can have all kinds of weird and wonderful combinations (Wham bar milkshake anyone?)

And here it is...the Barnam's review as promised. I always keep them. Promises that is…read more I think I'll divide this review in two - one for the actual ice-cream itself, and one for this parlour. Just to make things a wee but easier. Here goes... Barnams isn't my favourite ice-cream, but it's definitely good stuff. There is a huge range of flavours - blue bubblegum, orange crunch (orange-coloured of course), neon yellow banana, as well as your more 'normal' flavours of vanilla, chocolate etc. You can get tubs, cones, fancy wafery things, sauces, waffles and much, much more, and the prices aren't too high. Sounds good, eh? Popping into Barnam's World of Ice Cream yesterday was an absolute must, and apparently the whole world and his dog had the same thought. Well, world and his child in this case... We waited patiently behind a multitude of screeching children who were selecting their ice-creams. One little girl was given her ice cream cone wrapped in greaseproof paper, which she didn't appreciate at all. "Muuuuuummmmmmy!", she screamed, "I don't want the paaaaaappppeeerrrr!!". Oh dear, oh dear. By the time all this drama was over, I was well ready for my tub of chocolate and Belgian chocolate. Or so I thought! I ended up not even being able to eat it all. Oh dear, oh dear (again). Just warning you...but the ice-cream ain't bad. At all.

Mainly for the awesome selection of flavours they have, the bubblegum is really nice as is the chocolate (shock horror). The only downside is that with Ice cream parlours comes screaming children. The spoilt brats of the Lisburn and Malone road residents are awful. My solution? Call in when they're at school and enjoy the wonder that is Barnams Ice Cream!
