I was headed home from college with my friends on our ride back home from Oneonta and we decided to stop by after hearing they had good food. Good food is an understatement, crispy, juicy, flavorful wings that were beyond fresh. The paddy melt was beyond perfect with fantastic rye bread for it. We visited twice during our trip to Roscoe. Have nothing but great things to say. First night the service was awesome, Pauline is amazing. Even the customers were great, everyone so friendly. Filled with locals, the bartender (owner?) greeted us as we walked in, directed us to either of their dining rooms, we chose the one in view of the bar, at the fireplace. Decorated with deer, coyotes, a pheasant. The food was delicious--14oz burgers cooked rare for my teen, medium rare for the boys. I had the fish & chips--light batter, super crispy, not at all doughy--LOVED it. Crispy onion rings. We came by on our way home. Was looking for a place to satisfy our hunger. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, this is not the place for you. This is a local joint to hang out for a good conversation and drink. There were few restaurants in the heart of town but, we drove a few moments down the road to come to this restaurant to be out of the way from the crowd. The restaurant has a parking lot and it has a view of the golf course if you are sitting outside at the porch. This is a quaint little town. There are a lot of memorabilia of hunting and fishing on the walls of the restaurant. I love both! Good old American value. (Sorry, no photos of food as they are typical American flair. So let me tell you about this place- off the beaten path for sure- I was a bit concerned going in, but.... Jenna the coolest bartender, big HUGE smile and her "can't do enough for you" attitude quickly changed my thoughts! She was on dbl duty and seated us as well as recommended her faves- I had one of the best bowls of chili that HIT THE SPOT! (Strangely) I also ordered the macaroni salad that was clearly homemade with love! My colleague had the sliders and we both left fat and happy! It's a cheers kind of feel with a great dynamic! I've been here twice now and I will definitely be back again. The fish and chips aren't on the menu anymore, but if you ask they can make it for you as long as they have the fish. One of the best I have ever had. Huge portion of fish and chips and it is perfectly battered and fried. They also have a full bar with plenty of options. A few friends and I went to The Courtyard after a kayaking trip. We sat outside, the service was very slow, even though the place was not busy. The food was terrible. Two of my friends ordered a pizza with pepperoni, got peppers instead. The waitress took it back and brought the same pizza back, stating they tried to remove as many peppers as they could and added the pepperoni. Unacceptable, but they were hungry, so took it. Then they realized the dough was soggy and raw in the middle. Horrible! Two of my other friends ordered cheeseburgers, medium, but received well done on stale rolls. I had cole slaw that was spoiled, my reuben was also soggy on the bottom. The table behind us left and nobody bothered to clean up, therefore bugs were flying around. Not a great experience whatsoever. Won't be back anytime soon! read more
