This place is incredible and it's almost a crime for how affordable the food is given the volume and the quality. The lamb tenderloin was cooked PERFECTLY, tender, with great flavor, and was wonderful with the grilled onions, roti, and green sauce. I've been eating here for over 10 years and the quality of the kabobs and food has remained consistent. I love the chicken kabobs with rice and a side. Make sure to add carrots and raisins for the full Afghan experience. The chickpeas are my favorite side. It's the best fast casual Afghan food I've had in the US. Food is halal. As someone who has lived in Afghanistan, I would say it's authentic kabobs but it's pretty damn good anyway. Filling and tasty. This is one of the places we go to before catching a movie at Courthouse AMC. The service is quick, the food is good and reasonably priced, and we can sit outside to watch the world go by. Another thing we like is the food is less "commercial" than say Moby Dick. It has an almost home cooking feel to it. The thing we don't like about it is you get so much food that it's impossible for us to finish. We hate wasting food and don't feel comfortable trying to sneak this kind of thing into the movies. The bread was wonderfully greasy and filled with spices and onions. A punch of flavor with every bite! If you visit Courthouse Kabob, do not pass on ordering this! The spinach stew, however, left a little to be desired. As its name suggests...it was stewed spinach...but it lacked any additional flavor at all. All the meats we have gotten are super tender and flavorful, the chicken pieces were so juicy and tender, they were my favorite! They also give you this HUGE naan, it was piping hot and so soft and fluffy. We also got fries which were ok. Price is very reasonable, combo for one person is ~$13-15, I would say it's pretty reasonable in this area. They also have lunch combos that are a little cheaper. I got the beef kofta platter ($13.99), lentil soup ($3.99), and a 20-oz. bottle of watermelon lemon lime soda (Mash sparkling brand, $2.99). All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The delivery fee was $5.49; the sales tax was $2.10; the service fee was $3.15; and the tip for the driver was $6.34. Beef kofta has yellow onions, garlic cloves, sea salt, black pepper, rosemary, cumin, oregano, sumac and cinnamon for spices. My go to place for getting tasty kabobs. I have tried many of their options and my favorite is their combo with chicken and beef kabob. I would say their lamb kabob is also very good but it needs a little bit more marination to get the smell of the lamb and tenderizes the meat to my liking. For the side, I usually get chickpeas for the side which is a little bit spicy but very good. The restaurant atmosphere is pretty simple, similar to most of other afghan kabob places and each dish comes with white and green sauce. I usually go for white sauce instead of green because I don't like spicy sauce that much. The lamb kabob was tender but no flavor, the chicken kabob was good and the chicken kofta kabob was horrible. The young lady who served us was very nice but at the end told us to get our own takeout box for our left overs. Keep in mind they add an automatic 18%tip at the end. The lamb was so tender it fell right off the bone, and the brown rice with raisins and carrots was the perfect complement. The lentil stew was also excellent--I liked it so much that I found time to take bites of it between eating the lamb and rice. Once again, I may be biased, but I think the lentil stew was the best of the three sides we ordered. My mom and brother also tried some of my lamb and they both agreed it was amazing. Had dinner here a couple of days ago on a whim. I hadn't been here since before Covid, so I wanted decided to check it out and see if it was still as good as I remembered. Sure enough, the food and service were fantastic! My girlfriend and I shared the beef and chicken kofta combo platter and the lamb shank platter. The naan was served hot and fresh out of the tandoor. The koftas were beautifully seasoned, juicy, and perfectly charred. The rice was fluffy and delicious. I loved that they had sumac on the table, which I immediately sprinkled over my plate. The lamb shank was tender and fell off the bone. The rice, which was covered in sweet carrots and raisins, was delicious and complemented the lamb perfectly. In sum, the food at Courthouse Kabobs is absolutely amazing. But the top reason to dine here is the value: you will be hard press to find such fresh and delicious homemade food anywhere in the dmv for these prices. read more
