So close to 5 stars. I came here for lunch because I was interested by the best steak claim on the front of their menu. I was here at lunch time on Tuesday, so it wasn't busy, but it is a very spacious interior with a number of distinct sections, so you could easily come here for the bar area or a nice meal out. I had the daily special appetizer: poutine. Additionally I got a rib eye done Montreal style. The poutine was great, though pretty large for an appetizer. This could have been a meal all on its own. Nice crispy pub fries, melted cheese, and brown gravy, all flavorful but not too salty. I did put a good amount of it in a to-go box because I would have had no room for lunch if I'd finished it. The rib eye came with asparagus and fries (for some reason you can't get mashed potatoes until after 4pm?), and oh man can I see why they've won awards for this. With the Montreal seasonings and blue cheese butter, there was no lack of flavor, and this steak was cooked nicely medium rare. Such a tender piece of meat, it went right down and I was so happy to find a place doing steak proud. I was all set to give this place five stars, but then I went to the bathroom and thought it was straight out of a cubist painting. Weird angles, tight space. As a tall person I had trouble, and from an accessibility stand point it was a nightmare. All in all, based on the food I had, I'd send anyone here. I'll be back myself. I can't wait to have more of that steak, and I'll have to try out the other styles while I'm at it. read more

Great place with a super vibe and good food in Putnam. Attentive service as well which makes such a difference. Cross between a pub and western saloon, this is a great hideout for some good cheer. Nice time Friday night We had a large group of people with several children It seemed to frazzle the waitress and she wasn't stellar (I honestly thought about 3 starts instead of 4) Food was great Platter appetizer had something for everyone My husband has the chicken parm the he loved. I had high hopes for dinner tonight but unfortunately Courthouse fell short in a few areas. Confusion in the dining room led to below average service. I needed to request somebody to come to the table. The menu has some great options there are many choices but maybe too many. My table tried a variety of options and they were okay but just okay. This was our first visit! It was delicious and a nice atmosphere! We started with coconut shrimp and arancini balls. They were good! My husband got the Rasta pasta, he likes spice but it was a little overpowering! Smelt and did taste delicious but after a while he said it was too much he wish there was a little cream to cut the spice or something. I got a special which was chicken carbonara which was amazing. The bacon was really good, a lot of peas but they were tasty and the chicken was perfectly cooked! The Alfredo tasted great and it wasn't super soupy or milky! Also the toast was delicious too! Wish this was a regular! My dad got the tenderloin tips and he had nothing to complain about! Cooked good, great flavors! My mom had the lobster casserole, only giving a 4 star review because the lobster was definitely over cooked unfortunately. We all tried a piece, it was tough and rubbery. Stinks when you pay so much for that. A little salty because she had to add melted butter. The carrots were delicious though! Overall we will definitely be back! There's so much to try on the menu!! Been coming here for years and it's always been good.. recently, the food has become sub par and not worth the money you spend on it. It's now become a "hit or miss" place. The last few times I have ordered from there it has not been good. No seasoning on anything, dry food and just sloppy work. Tonight, I ordered food to go.. I got an order of Buffalo tenders with extra ranch and the chicken fajitas with extra sour cream. Very simple order. Drove 25 mins to get it.. when I arrived I asked the girl if the sauces were in the bag and she assured me they were and asked if I wanted silverware. I got home and to my surprise there were no sauces at all.. and a container of very dry mangled tenders. Disappointed. Then I opened the fajitas and let me tell you courthouse MADE the best fajitas I've ever had. They use tequila and everything meshes so well together. Well tonight I opened the container to find fajitas that were NOT what I was expecting. The chicken was coated with a ton of black pepper the peppers and onions were not cooked at all and had zero flavor, also.. why Arnt they red onions like they used to be? And the dish was sitting in a puddle of what tasted like dirty water. No flavor what so ever.. they were actually inedible if I'm being honest. The tortillas were hard as rocks as if they were stale and they never gave me sour cream.. just a cup of salsa and 1/2 a cup of cheese. I paid $45 for this food and if I hadn't drove 25 mins to get it I would have brought it back. I don't know if you have a new cook or your standards have just dropped? But please do better because this food was disappointing and gross. read more

Great curbside pickup! The Montreal burger was a good burger made in house instead of a frozen patty but it just felt like there could've been a bit more of the blue cheese butter - I didn't have the smokehouse burger but from looking at it the toppings were a bit sad too. The onion strings were cooked perfectly. The pulled pork nachos had a ton of toppings and were not soggy at all even though it was takeout. My kids had the kids hotdogs which were just hotdogs nothing to eat either way about. The prices are decent. The parking is very limited but they do have spots right out front for curbside pickup. read more

My boyfriend grew up visiting this restaurant so we stopped one night on our way home and I am so glad we did. The restaurant is extremely spacious, laid back, attentive service and a menu with creativity. The names of items were fun to read. I had the burger and it was one of the better burgers I've had. I don't know about other places in the area, but I was impressed with the quality of my food. It was cooked exactly how I like it (medium rare) and it had plenty of toppings. The portions are plenty. I had their Fish Taco Wrap and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the grilled Mahi Mahi. Sometimes fish wraps are fried fish so I was happy this was grilled. The pineapple salsa really made this meal feel like I was in the tropics too. It was a delicious and light wrap with lots of flavor. First time at The Courthouse in Putnam, CT. Our food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Michelle was our server and she was polite, efficient and friendly. My hubs ordered steak med. well and it was spot-on. My scallops were baked just right. The strawberry shortcake for dessert was yummy with it's homemade biscuit. Will definitely return in the future. Made dinner reservations as the evening we were going was the fire and ice festival. The restaurant was very busy as expected, but we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time. Our waitress Emily was personable and made nice suggestions to our group of 8. We made diverse selections for dinner from just sweet potatoes fries to specials including prime rib and surf and turf. I had the chicken and broccoli Alfredo, the broccoli was a little overcooked, but the chicken was very tender and flavorful. All agreed the food was good. We did have to wait a while before we received our drink order, but Emily explained that the bar was backed up at that time and apologized for the wait. My husband and I have gone numerous times and never an issue, always good BUT today wasn't one of those days. I ordered the filet mignon, 10 oz. I was starving and couldn't wait. Food arrived and LOOKED good as it should. I cut into it and cooked medium as requested. So far so good. Took my first bite and...... tasteless. Ate more expecting that full flavor to come about, but nothing. I was extremely disappointed. I ate it because I paid for it but I've had better steaks from Walmart. Wow. This was a really nice place to eat at. It has a medium to high medium priced menu. It also has probably the largest menu I've seen at a restaurant. It took forever to read it and then so long to narrow down our decision because so many things look so good and sounded so good. We went on a busy night but we had reservations so we were seated right away. Other people were waiting in line for up to 2 hours because it was a special event night. But they seemed happy to wait that amount of time which says a lot about the restaurant. I had the surf and turf and my steak was cooked to perfection. The shrimp were small but seasoned very nicely. Came here with my wife on a busy night. Service was nice but not amazing. Plenty of staff moving around so could have just been a lot of customers to handle. I ordered blackened Cajun chicken with mashed potato's and the vegetable was snap peas. Decent flavor... it was enjoyable for sure but didn't break any records. Wife ordered Chicken A La Vodka and thought it was a delicious pasta dish. Nice place overall, I will probably go again some day.
