They were assigned through my warranty company and were quick to communicate and extremely kind. They were honest, reliable, and very open with a secondary issue that would need to be addressed. The technician was very principled in that he could not legally leave something the way it was since it was installed not to code--they worked with my warranty company to address both issues. Honest, professional. Will do it right. They will charge fairly. They've admitted when an issue is complicated and will call in a more skilled supervisor when needed. I made a second purchase deal through Angie's List and this is my last. Like other reviewers, this seemed like a scam. More so, that you pay more than what's necessary, plus leave more work for someone else to take care their "outside expertise." I paid $354 for 4 recessed lighting, dimmer included, dry hole repair not included. Plus an additional $305 due to layout. I contemplated if I should purchase this deal and figured, okay, surely, it wouldn't be that bad. My gut told me no, yet i couldn't pass up the deal. Service - miscommunication. Price - hefty, not worth it. I should've gone with Fairfax Light Company (Bill). Work done - Victor was kind and came by to give me a quote. I thought the day he came would've done the work that day. No where in the email communication stated it would be just for a quote. Fine, i get it, but it should've been clearly stated in the email and in their deal. He told me one or two holes may be made to get the lights up. Okay, two holes to patch.. okay... he said he could find someone to quote me. Firstly - as an electrical company, they should've been prepared to quote anyway for the drywall repair. Secondly, when they came out the second time, 4 holes were made! I was furious, because, even with the holes, there was a watermark like thing around the recessed lighting. I'm truly unhappy with their work, paid more than what was necessary ($305 more because no existing outlet). Let this be a lesson to both you and me not to use AngiesList as they're filtered and i should've relied on my Yelpers for this. About the holes? I may do it myself (I'm pretty handy!). This review is long overdue. We recently hired Courtesy Electric to replace five ceiling fans in our house. They were on-time, did excellent work, and their prices are very reasonable and competitive. But this was not the first time Courtesy did great work in our home, and that is why this review is way overdue. Two years ago we had a list of electrical work we needed done, including installation of recessed lighting with dimmer switches, changing out and upgrading ALL of the electrical outlets and wall switches in our home, changing out and upgrading the smoke detectors throughout the house, mounting three ceiling fans and several hanging chandeliers (one from an 18 foot ceiling), and adding a new circuit panel. While they were completing the electrical work, I asked Jose (owner) if he knew anyone that could mount cabinets and replace shelving in the laundry room as well as remodel the master bedroom with new and more secure shelving. Jose said he could. And he did. We were extremely pleased with all of the work, including the carpentry work. We originally found Courtesy Electric through Angie's List when Jose responded to our query for estimates. Jose and his daughter responded to our home to discuss what we wanted done and presented us with an estimate. They were on time and presented themselves professionally and were very personable. Several Courtesy electricians, including Jose, worked on our job. Besides each of them being good guys, I can honestly say they were always on time, were professional, always communicated with us regarding the status of the job, and did great work. Courtesy Electric also does handyman services and I bought an Angie's list deal for replacement of some rotted wood on my house. I had them do two things: Put a piece of plywood over the rotted floor of a bumpout and replace a few pieces of cedar siding. The cost for those things was about $500. The cedar siding they installed does not match the original siding on the house. The boards are narrower and have a different type of taper(see picture). It is beyond me that the carpenters would continue to install this mismatched siding. I thought I was going to get a full piece of plywood to cover the entire bottom of the bump-out. Instead, the pieces are cut to 24" and leave a gap at the back. The plywood sags at the back leaving a gap which could allow insects in. The plywood was not screwed in from underneath in front, but was only screwed in sideways into the plywood from the siding piece instead of firmly into the joists. After a month, they came back to fix the issues. Within the first five minutes, the owner accused me of arguing with him and walked off the job. He told me to write a bad review (which I had intended to do anyway). It cost me $500 to install a piece of plywood and a few pieces of wood siding and the job they did is useless. This company is a disaster. I purchased a deal for electrical work to have a recessed light fixed and scheduled an appointment. The big snow storm came and, instead of calling ahead to let me know they couldn't make it, they simply never showed. I had to track THEM down to figure out what was going on and finally, after multiple calls and leaving a voicemail, Jose called me back. He was clueless as to when my appointment was supposed to be, what work was supposed to be done and kept insisting that they had already been to our house (we had never had any work done yet!). Finally, after sorting through his confusion, we confirmed a new appointment for the following week. Per Jose's request, I sent him an email confirming the time and location...and AGAIN they didn't show up. My husband waited at home all day, missing out on work, only for them to skip our second appointment without notice. When I called them again, they claimed they didn't get our confirmation email, which I then forwarded to them to prove that the confirmation had been sent. They are completely unorganized, incompetent with regard to scheduling, and terrible customer service considering all the work I had to do just to get schedule appointments they couldn't even show up to. read more
