My husband and I were walking around town down while visiting the family farm in Pomroy. We have seen Court Grill the last few times we visited but just couldn't stop in. This time we did. The staff were friendly and the old building was unique. We couldn't stay long so we had an appetizer and drinks. We will be back to the Court Grill. Tony and I went to French 500 Flea Market in Gallipolis, Ohio then drove over to Pomeroy for their Farmer's Market along the Ohio River and had lunch at Court Bar & Grill. I had the "Bungtown" Burger and he had a Pizza Sub loaded with meat, PBR on draft and I had Pepsi. Food was delicious, "Homemade Tortilla Chips & Salsa"...killer!!! Great food, always busy. However they allow dogs (non service animals) in. The people who had a large German Shepherd were allowing the animal on the table (front paws) as well as running around. The dog itself was a "good dog", however it still is a dog in a public eating place. read more

This is a must stop at restaurant! Atmosphere and decor is amazing, a blues/rock club atmosphere, small and tight seating and very crowded when we dined. Service was right on, the guy working was bartending and serving everyone, super professional and friendly attitude. Menu is awesome and food was great. We had Brussels sprouts app which was perfect, lightly salted and just delicious. Wife had the lobster Mac and cheese which I got a chance to enjoy as well. I had the special burger, which was super juicy and good. The Court Grill as a 5 star Bar and Grill with a menu that sure surprised me for a small town! Great Job guys! This probably one of the best dive bars where I've had excellent service and amazing eats!! The atmosphere was awesome - I loved all of the jazz posters and signs. Small but well kept up music venue that traditionally has blues music every weekend. They also allowed me to come do stand-up comedy and the show was great, the people were very friendly and I DEF will be back. Also my friends in the band Bobaflex play here as well. Bartender was friendly and the food was well prepared. Not at all greasy like a lot of bar food. Chef was a lovely lady from across the pond who came out and discussed the inspiration for her recipes. The food is fresh yet unpretentious set in a laid back atmosphere. It's popular with locals and visitors alike. They have live music and ice cold beer definitely worth the trip and the money if you're in the Pomeroy area. Stopped in an hour before closing after hiking for the day. We were starving, and it hit the spot. It was delicious! My boyfriend and I both had the quesadilla. The guacamole was fresh. The chicken inside the quesadilla was fresh and delicious! The fried tortilla strips that came with it were delicious. The only complaint I have is that the strips were seasoned way too much. This place is legit. Top notch food all made in house. Good beer selection, live music. Awesome dive bar with a mom and pop feel. The catfish po boy was the best catfish sandwich I've ever had. The rueben was on a house-made rye foccacia bread that was amazing. Great onion rings, and desserts if you're so inclined. I don't hand out five stars lightly. I ordered the Friday special, fish and chips, expecting to be disappointed. (I've ordered them many times in England and Scotland.) I must say that the batter was top notch, and the catfish was moist and delicious. The chips (fries) were perfectly seasoned and not even a little bit greasy. YUM. Blues haven with great ambiance, excellent choice of beer and the very best Quesadillas I've ever had.....and that's saying something since I live in California, a long time in San Diego where good Mexican food is outstanding.....but not as good as Court Street Quesadillas. We've been to this place several times and finally talked some friends into joining us on a Saturday evening. If you're looking for Pomeroy's version of "Cheers" this is it. I had pulled pork quesadillas with chili lime tortilla chips on the side, and it was very good. My wife and our friends all had variations of their different burgers and all were very pleased with their meals. Be prepared, it's small, it's loud, and it can be very crowded. Drove down from Cleveland to OU and decided to swing down to Pomeroy on a Saturday afternoon to check out a new brewery. Well, the new brewery wasn't finished yet, so we stumbled upon this place. Great little spot. Very attentive barmaid who was real friendly. We had the "special" which was called something like "Detroit roast beef". It was a sandwich, but not just any sandwich. It was the best hot roast beef sandwich I've ever had. Really good. My wife and I told the barmaid we were going to split it and she was attentive enough to split it and serve it on separate plates. It looks like this place is a music haven in the evenings. Any place with original music is a plus in my book. As for beer, the barmaid was knowledgeable and they have a nice selection. (Although I would love to see them add something from Devils Kettle). They've gotten one of those beer list tv monitors that tells you the price and alcohol content as well as other information. If you find yourself in Pomeroy and need a meal or a pint you can't do any better than Court Street. I'll be back! And come back we did. It was a quiet Tuesday at happy hour. Just us and a few locals. We got the "old bay" peel and eat shrimp and I had the catfish sandwich while my wife had the Reuben. Our son had a chicken club. Everything was outstanding! This is the best pub grub in Ohio. The locals were talking about Devils Kettle brewing in Athens and the only thing that could have topped our meal would have been a cold spider silk brew from DK. What a surprise. Just finished up walking on the walking path and saw a bunch of people standing outside catching a smoke and decided to give it a try. It was Tuesday night and the place was packed because of open stage night. Was just going to drink a beer, but the waitress said the kitchen was still open so I ordered a Bungtown Burger with fries. Wow, the Bungtown Burger was One of the best burgers I've ever had, rivals Terry's turf club in Cincinnati. It had such a great flavor, it must've been the secret slaw. They had a bunch of craft beers available, and I was happy that I could order a domestic. And Tuesday open stage night brings a bunch of local musicians that play a few songs each and you get to hear sampling over a couple of hours. The patrons were really polite and I felt like one of the locals, a really great atmosphere highly recommend it. read more

This is our favorite place to eat. Great atmosphere with fantastic food. Our first experience was simply dropping in for a Saturday midday drink. We were so pleased with the place, we stayed and enjoyed a great dinner that evening. They offer locally brewed beers and locally bottled wines. Most weekends you can enjoy live music. Not what it's cracked up to be. They had a jam night wherein we showed up and the host was not to be found. Came back the next week and the host was not there again! A band showed up to play and had all their equipment and even had the drums set up and they wouldn't let anyine play. No host, no jam according to the owner.....well, they just lost 8-9 customers. Ate here Tuesday, August 9, 2016. We sat there for about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. There was one man in there drinking a beer, and 3 others, one of whom I think was the owner, and these 3 were VERY LOUDLY, discussing the stern wheeler fest. Finally the waitress came over and we placed an order for drinks and the chum bucket shrimp, Cajun style, as an appetizer. While waiting for our appetizer, we had to motion for the waitress to come back over to take our order. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my husband ordered the brat sandwich. After about 20-25 minutes, I heard a bell ding, which I'm sure was to let the waitress know our food was ready, remember, we were the only customers there, besides the guy drinking a beer! After about 2-3 minutes, the waitress, who had been on her cell phone for probably 10 minutes, brought our food. My quesadilla was very bland, had almost no cheese, and a very small portion of chicken. My husband said the brat sandwich was OK. Thankfully, the chum shrimp bucket was very good, had good Cajun seasoning and good cocktail sauce. If we lived closer, I MIGHT go back for the chum bucket, but we live in Cross Lanes, WV, so I don't see a return trip in our future! Horrible service!!!. read more
