I've taken both my cats plus my new puppy here, and saw Dr. Fietz. The veterinarian and every staff…read moremember I've spoken to has been friendly and professional, and really patient about answering any questions. Due to Covid they have a set up where you call when you arrive. Then the vet tech calls and asks the basics about your pet and any concerns you might have. They come outside to fetch your pet and bring them in for the exam, then the vet calls you to let you know if they spotted any concerns, recommend any treatments, and answer any questions you might have. Finally the office staff calls to check you out and they have a vestibule area set up with a cc reader so you can pay and pick up your pet. It's a lot of calling back and forth but I appreciate that they're trying to keep everyone safe, and they move everything along pretty efficiently without you feeling rushed. They are also up front about pricing everything out before you agree to anything, which is really helpful. I'll definitely continue to bring all of my four-legged friends here!

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me…read more I should have known better. The first upsetting incident happened when they overcharged me for spaying my dog. I wrote a true review. They took responsibility for it and discounted the price, so I removed the review. My dog had an emergency. I called all over and they could take her in, so I did. I should have remembered my past experience with them and listened to everyone who says Crossroads Animal Hospital is all about the money. They gave me an estimate of roughly $400-$700. That's a big range, but at least it covers the bases. Before I even get home, they are calling back with an estimate for $1000 more. The tech tells me that she didn't know that the dog would need general anesthesia and that's more than a local. ARE YOU SERIOUS? You do surgeries all day long and you don't know that? You wait until my dog is already dropped off and under anesthesia to ask me to agree to a $1000 price increase? I'm filing a complaint. This is a total bait and switch.

Never would I have thought I would be writing a bad review regarding Charlottesville Veterinary…read moreHospital, but due to a recent situation I feel it is important that other pet owners are made aware of the incident regarding a needless extensive surgery for our dog. Our "Frenchie" Pablo had a growth on his right side, the rotating Doctor Dr. Christopher Middleton, DVM, diagnosed Pablo with cancer (mast cell tumor) on 10/5/23 at an office visit doing just a "smear" sample of cells from the surface that he scraped off and then looking under microscope. He also stated that we needed to get it removed right away as well as getting an abdominal ultrasound (which we would have had we been able to get an appointment. We were also told to take Pablo to an oncologist, which again, we were unable to get an appointment within the month. With all that in mind and also the insistence that Pablo have the growth removed ASAP to prevent the possible spreading of cancer, we had the surgeon perform the operation. A week later, the pathology results came back stating that Pablo never had any form of cancer. We were also then informed by the full-time Vet/owner that the growth would have just dried up and fallen off had we done nothing. After hearing this, I called the administrator (Jennifer) and expressed my displeasure that my dog just had a completely unnecessary x-ray and extensive procedure. She tried to defend Dr. Middleton instead of apologizing and offering me a partial refund. Jennifer stated that Pablo had a "benign cancerous tumor." I explained to her that is not correct because benign means "non-cancerous", so clearly, she did not understand that it couldn't be benign and cancer at the same time. Over a week passed, and I was still waiting for my refund. We finally received a letter that we needed to find another vet due to our "displeasure of the care provided," and they would give me a good faith partial refund of $350. We asked for the records and found out that Jennifer fabricated notes in the records that stated that I "demanded potential outcomes." We will miss Doctors Carlson and Luziach, but it is not the "displeasure of the care provided"; it is the honesty and the inability of management to admit to a mistake that involved an expensive misdiagnosis.

Big thank you to vet assistant Bridget and Dr. Luzaich!…read more Took our Lancer in to get his shots and wellness examination. Both of them were extremely friendly, transparent, and knowledgeable for all of my questions and concerns. Our dog is very wary around strangers, but the staff here are able to handle him well and be very kind with him. Of note-they offer a curbside pick up for appointments, which we use. Make sure to park in the numbered spots and let them know where you are.
