Nothing but caring doctors and techs! They made us feel heard and were quick and efficient. Can't recommend them more!

Georgetown Veterinary Hospital

I originally came to Georgetown because they were recommended to me by a friend whose dog was a…read morepatient there. I have been absolutely thrilled with them over the past two years. The staff are incredibly friendly, patient, and competent. The vets themselves, and we've now had appointments with 3/4 of them, are stupendous. In every instance, their level of care and expertise is top-notch and we have never had any issues with anything they've recommended. Furthermore, they are price-conscious and when they recommend a treatment or a procedure I know it's because it's actually necessary .... and not because they're remodeling their kitchens. In one case, they even waived a fee (without me asking!) because they asked me to come back in for a second consultation. Another time my dog needed surgery, and (again without me asking!!) they made sure to clean his teeth while he was anesthetized in order to save me money down the road. My dog and I have now lived in four different states, and seen five different vets. I can truly say that Georgetown is the best of them all. Take your pet there!

I brought my cat to this practice after seeing two other veterinarians closer to home because I was…read morehoping to get a more thorough evaluation and some answers. Unfortunately, I deeply regret that decision. My cat was experiencing significant over-grooming and weight loss, and I was concerned that something more serious was going on. Despite her visible weight loss and her hip bones becoming prominent, I was told that she was still a healthy weight and that her symptoms were most likely related to anxiety. I understand that anxiety can contribute to over-grooming and other changes in cats. However, I felt that her physical symptoms were not taken seriously enough, particularly as she continued to lose weight and develop vomiting and watery stools despite medication and food trials. I ultimately sought care from another veterinary practice. Within a week, they referred us to an internal medicine specialist, where my cat received imaging and was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were told she likely had approximately two months to live. I cannot know whether an earlier diagnosis would have changed the outcome, and I am not making that claim. What I can say is that, as her owner, I repeatedly knew that something was wrong, and I wish her concerns had been investigated more thoroughly rather than primarily attributed to anxiety. I was also extremely disappointed by the follow-up afterward. Even after I informed the practice that my cat had a terminal diagnosis and that I did not wish to continue communication with the office, I continued to receive requests regarding her rabies vaccination. The office later told me that they did not have medical records on file that would exclude her from the rabies requirement and that Dr. Stone had reached out to ask what was going on with her. Given the circumstances I had already communicated, receiving routine vaccine-related communication was particularly upsetting. I am sharing this review because I hope other pet owners will advocate strongly for their animals when something doesn't seem right. If your pet is experiencing unexplained weight loss or other significant changes, I would encourage you to seek a thorough evaluation and, if necessary, a second opinion. I am heartbroken by what happened to my cat and disappointed by the care and communication we received from this practice.

I am very pleased to say that we get the same great treatment with this team. Dr. Cain is amazing with both of our dogs, Ruka and Chico. I love how friendly and caring the assistants and technicians are with our dogs. Ashley is very friendly, especially when it comes to our dogs. Staesha is also friendly and caring! Makes us happy when she pops in to say hi to our dog Ruka. He's a Ridgeback, which she shared she grew up with :) Cherish always welcomes our dogs and makes their tails wag! One thing we hate is when we feel rushed with our appointments, and Dr. Cain has never made us feel that way. He always explains things thoroughly and never makes us feel like any questions we ask are not good ones. Our little dog recently had oral surgery with dental extractions and we were very worried. Dr. Cain and his team assured us everything would be alright and kept us updated throughout the process. Our dogs love going to the vet now because of their amazing treatment, but it also could be because of the treats they spoil them with. Their customer service is great and am always able to schedule an appointment with no problem, even same day appointments. I either always speak to Jessie or Shane, they are always able to squeeze us in, especially for their nail trimming appointments! Their kindness and overall expertise is the reason why we always recommend VCA Albemarle to our friends.

They waited until I got there, their last appointment of the day that my cat isn't due for it's shots, instead of at least earlier in the day. Why request medical records in advance if you're not going to even review them prior to appointments and waste everyone's time?

I took my cats for grooming as well as regular checkups. Stacy is wonderful when grooming and has listened when I described to her the best way to handle each based on their personalities. Last year, one of my cats was diagnosed with cancer. At first, Dr. Mahanes was certain it would be diabetes based on symptoms but she ran tests and they were fine. But I still knew something was wrong so I video taped him and emailed it to her and she responded 'he's definitely in pain, bring him back.' We learned what was wrong through an X-ray. She thought the cancer may be inoperable but sent me to a specialist and he had successful surgery. I won't bore with details, but I did lose him within a year, but that year was so beautiful. I spent every moment I could with him. I adored this cat and I felt I had a whole team backing me up. Cat Care checked in frequently and always wanted to know his status. When he did pass, their staff sent a card with hand written notes from the staff. Note: they can be expensive. But I've never felt pressured to do something I could not afford. I can't recommend Cat Care more for cat moms and dads.

To go over to Greenbrier Emergency Veterinarian. No warning about how expense Greenbrier would be. The cat got good care at Greenbrier but was not prepared for how expense it would be. Payment needed to be made in advance before any care was given. Had to run home and get another CC that I don't normally carry with be. The practice is open late Friday - Monday 7:30 AM. Had to pick the cat up Monday morning doing a snow storm still with catheter sticking out his rear. Then take him to properly only vet open doing the snow storm. They keep him while I waited half a day in the lobby. Was told best to keep the catheter in for 48 hours. Cost at Greenbrier $2,900 and another $350 at Meadow Creek. I ask them if I came to them first what the charge would be for the same procedure. Was told $700. At Greenbrier I was also told that my cat may need to go next store to the specially surgical veterinarians for a future procedure . That they were the only ones that did that procedure in our area. Cost would be about $5,000. At Meadow Creek they told me that they could do the same procedure and cost would be about $2,000. They put the cat on a special diet and medicine so hopeful he will not need to have it done. Can not say enough nice thinks about Mesdow Creek and staff. I expect that they will be my new veterinarian. Finale thought my father was a veterinarian and I use to help him out at his practice. I know a few things about the business.

Being separated from one of my dogs for several days in the hospital was difficult; their frequent updates and reassurances meant the world to me. Our communications with the entire team, from the front desk through the surgeons, cardiologist, and oncologist, were consistently clear, compassionate, and genuinely helpful. Their professionalism, kindness, and steady support were deeply appreciated.
