I have been using Piedmont for about 15 years. I have nothing but great things to say about there care they give my babies. They are truly amazing with me and my dogs. When I had to put 3 of my dogs to rest they were caring thoughtful and helped me with arrangements. I don't know how they deal with the loss of a clients animal as well as they do, but I know it's tough on them and the bedside manner is on point. I want to thank the Dr and the staff for all that they do. Truly amazing people. The ones that wrote about being mad because they don't take new clients, They need to know there is a reason. If they were just in it for the money they would take in new clients, so by not taking on new client's they are able to give there existing clients the best care they have to offer. This was not our usual vet, but last summer our family's deeply beloved 10 1/2 year old golden retriever became ill with lymphoma and was given a very grim prognosis. We decided to treat him with high dose steroids, to let him have one final rally. We fed him steaks and took him in the car with us everywhere and for a brief time, he was well enough to play frisbee again. The inevitable crash came-much faster than we'd hoped-and we realized how unprepared we were to manage his suffering at home, despite that both adults in our family are medical professionals. Max was terrified of vets, and it made us sick to think of bringing him to the vet's office for care because we knew how it would scare him. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Karen Degiorgis, who provided the equivalent of in-home hospice care to our precious boy. She provided home visits and medicated Max for pain when he was miserable, initially allowing him to rebound significantly and gain function. When his disease progressed to the point that we could see that he was suffering more than we felt we could allow to continue in good conscience, she came and put him down for us. He died peacefully, at his own home, surrounded by his family, and we buried him in our garden. Losing a beloved pet is always difficult, but Dr. Degiorgis' excellent care made it easier. Extremely caring and professional vet services. My dachshund mix had an emergency just a few nights before our first appointment with this office and the emergency doc on call that night (Dr. Cori) did not care what time it was or if we were new. She spoke to me twice that night. The next morning when we took my fur kid in, an older gentleman vet spoke with my husband and reassured him that our pup would be ok. On March 15th I took our three small dogs and one of our cats in for a normal check up and vaccine updates. Dr. Cori saw us and she sat on the floor to make the dogs more comfortable while learning about them and us. My animals love her. The most compassionate, genuine, knowledgeable vet, Dr. Cori Lewis, had been my family's vet from the time she joined the practice until she recently reduced her hours. She knew and truly cared about Miss Kitty, our family dog Leo, and my very first dog as an adult, Andre, through the ups and downs until the end, going out of her way. When I adopted my most recent dog, Esco, I was lucky enough to have his first visit there with her. When I returned from maternity he developed chronic anxiety, was destructive to the point he would harm himself or escape. Since Cori wasn't available for several frequent visits given the case, I saw Elvira who was also wonderful. At some point in the process i by default dealt with Karen. It would take a novel to write about my awful experience with her, but after the disrespect, disregard for his condition that escalated to emergency surgery for anxiety induced bloat, and the comment when I called the next day to reach out in telling her what happened being an abrupt, "yeah I saw the records," she will never care or lay a hand in my on my sweet boy again. Piedmont Vet has an awesome,patient, friendly staff. I've been taking my pets there for many years and have never felt as if they were trying to "up sell" me services, like with many other vets I've been to over the decades. I had to put my baby to sleep after 16 years of constant companionship. The decision was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. The Piedmont Vet staff was completely supportive of my emotional state before and after the procedure and took the time to explain exactly what the procedure was about (as I was unaware of how it "worked").
