We were pleasantly surprised when we ordered the conglomerate platter. It was a decent amount of meat and the wait time was less than 10 minutes. The bbq sauce is very good. They have a regular sweet and also mustard "golden" BBQ sauce. The brunswick stew seemed a bit like something canned or premade but it was okay. The baked apples tasted fresh, not canned which was a pleasant surprise. The chili tasted a bit like regular hotdog chili but it was good. The baked beans did not have much flavor and seemed a bit bland. The cornbread actually had kernels of corn in it, which can be a hit or miss. We really enjoyed the chicken. One of us had a breast/wing anemone of us had leg/thigh. We did not specify when ordering. The ribs were very meaty and tasted great with the sauces.The waitresses were very pleasant and the atmosphere is inviting and family oriented. I will be back! read more

This is not the place to eat if you have allergies to cabbage Or anything that cones in mayonnaise coleslaw. On Tuesday nights the special is catfish with coleslaw, hush puppies and one additional side. if you can't eat the mayonnaise coleslaw then you are not allowed to substitute any other item. we were told by the manager the coleslaw is like a complimentary thing with catfish. We drive from Coweta county to eat at Country's. We ate there Wednesday, and it was a disappointment. First, I ordered the squash casserole. When they brought our food out, they said it would be 10 more minutes on the squash. After about 10 minutes, they came back out and said it would be another 40 minutes. Then, the brisket we ordered was extremely dry. This is unusual for Country's. In fact, it was Country's brisket that got me to liking brisket. Third, the manager was extremely rude and didn't care when I complained about the squash casserole. Not sure if we'll make the trip from Coweta again. read more

My husband & I came in with another couple on July 4th while traveling. 1st- waitress brought out wrong drinks 2nd -2 of our party ordered brisket & 5 minutes after ordering waitress came back & told us they were out. 3rd - 2 of the 4 plates brought out were incorrect. Three ordered fried chicken strip plates (simplest meal ever) - one got grilled chicken sandwich, another got grilled strips. Turns out, the wrong table was delivered to ours we later discovered. 4th - one found black human hair in his ranch sauce. Overlooked, but then found another under his chicken on his plate. 5th - noticed we were given the wrong ticket when we got to the register 6th- only because of the ticket & having to talk to the cashier about our order, I then mentioned the hair(s). She immediately said the hair in the chicken would have been from corn (which we did not have) & would not have been human but the one in the ranch may have been human, then turned away and addressed another waitress about seating other guests & did not speak to me the remainder of the transaction. I understand things happen and had not planned to say anything until the cashier had to ask cause our ticket was mixed up. I could have overlooked until her total indifference and even her need to explain the hair being a corn silk (which I am a cook so I am well aware of what a corn silk looks like). I was very quiet when I mentioned this to the cashier so as not to draw attention & be respectful. We even tipped still, as we know this is a servers livelihood. Came back to get their famous fried pickles. The service has been revamped! Our waitress, Alia, checked on us several times even when we didn't need anything. The food was still delicious and reasonably priced. If you leave hungry it's your own fault!! I got the buttermilk fried chicken fingers, baked beans, and fries. My husband got the smoked brisket. Mediocre food, except the coleslaw which was awful. They need to dump that vinegar based coleslaw off the menu. Does anyone actually like that tasteless crap? The waitress was not the friendliest either. She asked us if we wanted refills and when I said yes, she just walked away. I guess getting good tips doesn't matter to her. For openers if you believe the best barbecue is found in a joint in the bad part of town you wouldn't want go at night, that has bars on the windows and just enough grease on the table to write your initials, then this isn't it... Unless, of course, you want to enjoy an exception to the rule and some very good 'cue. Country's is family owned operation out of Montgomery that once tried and failed to get a foothold in Atlanta. The danger any time any barbecue place has more than one location , is the next ones almost always fall short of the original. Not so when we compared notes from our stop at Country's/Montgomery with Country's/LaGrange. Their ribs are among the best the Brown Shoe Gourmet (see other barbecue reviews) has tasted. Excellent rub, full flavor, moist and none of that "fall of the bone" silliness that always shouts they've first been par-boiled or baked. Their Brunswick Stew (available at no extra cost as a side making it a bargain) was very good with a strong tomato flavor. Their slaw is a vinegar based with some poppy seeds and sugar influence... good for those of us who like it that way. The real star of the sides (hereafter referred to as SOS) are their fries... are Country's hand cut and deep fat fried. Impossible to resist. A super SOS. The pulled pork is good but not on the elevated level of the ribs, the brisket being somewhere between. Two of our folks tried their chef's salad with smoked turkey and became instant (and raving) fans. The vegetarian with us (no idea how she got in) had the veggie platter which showcased a cantaloupe sized sweet potato. They serve their tea in styrofoam "to go" cups; wish they wouldn't. Our waitress was named Courtney and she didn't seem to understand that she was at work..., big smile, checked on us often and gave great service - enjoying herself the whole time. There are a couple negatives: for my taste, none of the three sauces really reached beyond fairly good. The tomato based is the mainstay, the two others are mustard influenced. None of the three make you want to buy a bottle to take home. And I did want to buy a T-shirt to add to my collection of more than 200 and (negative #2)(my pet peeve) they were out. Traveling south of Atlanta on I-85, hungry for some good barbecue, don'ty mind eating in a block of so off the town square, then look for Country's... as good in LaGrange, Georgia as it is in Montgomery, Alabama. Wait time was only 10minutes, which was great considering we were hungry. Food wasn't piping hot, wife was able to hold it in her lap on our 10min drive back to the hotel. We had brisket and chopped pork and they didn't give us any bbq sauce! There wasn't even any sauce already drizzled over our meat, so we were stuck eating dry bbq. We ordered a large to go order July 4th. It was a huge disappointment. The pork sandwiches were mainly fat and had slaw we think on top. The ribs were tough and burned up. The fries were very good that was the only thing that was good. The onion rings tasted as they were soaked in vinegar. The banana pudding had bananas that were black and slimy. We ate here years ago and it was delicious. I never would have ordered 95.00 worth. I see that the chicken, chicken strips and other things are good on the reviews but I thought their main items were that of a BBQ place. I don't know if owners have changed or what but the banana pudding was the best but no more. So sorry I chose this place. read more

I've only been to the Auburn Alabama location so when I found out there was one close enough for a drive in the Mini cabrio, I was game. I got the pulled pork plate with fries and cole slaw. We also shared the fried pickles app. The pickles were the only highlight of the meal and not just because the ranch dip is my soul mate, but because the BBQ was AWFUL. The pulled pork plate arrived and the pork looked like it was left over from the previous night but who are we kidding, it looked like the previous week. It was dry, had zero taste and almost choked me when I tried a second bite. Now I understand why there are 3 sauces to choose from on the table. They clearly are hoping you drown the sad excuse for BBQ in the sauce and you'll forget you're eating hair. The cole slaw was swimming in vinegar water and had so much pepper on top it took me 3 sips of my trusty pocket flask to stop sneezing. I couldn't cover the bad taste with more watered down BBQ sauce so I moved on. I realize they didn't have a gigantic rocking chair like the Auburn location and I wasn't greeted at the door by a hateful Auburn fan but wait, yes I was, but I at least expected this location to have the same tasty meat selection as the one in Alabama. Consistency of rubber wrapped in burnt fat, flavor of cheap sauce. Pulled pork was below average, but the brisket was so terrible nothing else mattered. I used them to cater. Way, way overpriced and the food was awful. We had beef brisket and pulled pork. Not one knife was brought on their behalf. Hard to eat beef brisket with a plastic fork and spook. The pieces of potatoes in the potato salad were so huge, again, hard to eat with a plastic fork and spoon. Baked beans were fine, but $850 for all that was hardly worth it. They had loaves of bread on the serving line. No one quite figured out what they were for. They weren't even taken out of the bags. My wife and I chose this place to meat up with my parents for a lunch. I was skeptical since it only had 3 1/2 star. We were not disappointed. We started with the fried pickles and they were so good we ordered another order of them. Both my parents had the bbq pork platter and the serving size was so big that neither could finish their plates. My wife had the brisket platter which she described was "heavenly," I thought it was very good as well. I had the platter that had a little of everything. It had chicken, sliced pork, and ribs. All these things had wonderful flavor. The chicken was moist and was my personal favorite as it is in most bbq places. If I ever make my way down here again I will definitely stop again. read more

If you are doing take out, check to make sure that your rib's aren't burnt. I received a whole rib that was burnt to a crisp on one side. Also make sure you get a receipt or you are SOL if you need to return or refund anything, they don't trust that their customers aren't lying to them or they don't recognize their own product don't know which one it might be. I have been eating at Country Barbecue since it opened. Yesterday, I wished that I had charged every visit, so I could have a good count. Yet, as usual, I paid cash for the meal and tip. Yet, I left from the drive through pick up area TOTALLY INSULTED!! SINCE I am allergic to onions, and have had them included several times, I know better to drive off without checking my food. Having had a nice conversation with the young lady who took my order, I was totally surprised that a short thigh/leg had been given to me instead of my ALWAYS specific request for the WING. I phoned back in and advised the error and requested a wing please be brought out to me. Told the female that my order taker would be able to verify my order. I was the only one outside. Everyone else was going inside. A female came out and asked me for my bag of food. I said for what? I simply repeated that I was waiting on a wing. With COVID-19, I didn't want my food to be rehandled. She then advised that she was instructed to come out and MAKE SURE TO RETRIEVE the original piece of chicken. I don't eat short thighs is why I never request the leg. I said, you are kidding! As much business as I have given to this store, you need to retrieve the piece of chicken that must now (or should) go into the trash, BEFORE you will correct YOUR mistake in filling my placed order. She said yes, and wasn't going to bring my wing without it. I gave it to her, but advised that I was and am HIGHLY INSULTED!! After a long drive down the east coast, I wanted to give myself a break to enjoy some good southern barbecue. I ordered the combination and asked them to sub the latter for a half brisket half rib plate. They did that at no additional charge. That was probably the highlight of the meal... The service was alright....like it was just ok. The brisket was soooo dry and cold it was as if I was eating roast beef. The ribs were over cooked and beyond dry. The worst part was that whoever made them forgot to remove the silver skin off the bottom of the ribs.
