Have been here twice now! Always a clean, positive experience. The pancakes this time were delicious. I got Everybody's Favorite. I not a big fan of country kitchen at all...my family went here the eat when a relative of mine came to visit, I got the pot roast...it was drastically under seasoned I felt like I was eating tofu covered in flavorless gravy and the steamed broccoli was just as flavorless. Mediocre food. Similar to a IHOP (ihob, haha) or Perkins. They offer breakfast items, lunch/soup & sandwiches and dinners. Clean restaurant, good service. My husband got a rib basket and I got a lighter fare meatloaf dinner (smaller portion). Food was hot & surprisingly tasty! Ribs were tender, fries were extra crisp, Mac & cheese was a little on the runny side but was cheesy, mashed potatoes were your usual mashed potatoes and meatloaf was seasoned well. read more

One of the better breakfast experiences on our road trip. Ordered the standard eggs bacon and hash browns. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was crisp as requested and the hash browns while they could have been a touch crispier were so delicious it didn't matter. The manager here needs a training on customer service before the business loses all its customers. First time it was about refills on chocolate milk of all things. My 3 year old wanted chocolate milk with his kids meal but when I got the receipt was I was charged a refill for his chocolate milk. Excuse me I have been here numerous times before and never paid for a kids refill. The deep voiced manger responded he didn't know why and that I should have been. And makes a sly remark about how he wishes that he could drink chocolate milk all day. Whatt??? Then today I try something different and ordered the cod basket I wish I would have taken a picture, it was literally 2 fish chips and some fries, my server I think his name was Sam was confused too when I inquired about the size of the fish and said he thought I came with 3 pieces, I told him I'm not paying 11.49 for that and would order something else, he understood and said the manager would come to the booth shortly, but Sam returned and said that an discount will be applied out check out. Okay, Sam didn't say an amount, nor did he bring the bill to the me, I walked up to pay with the same deep voiced manager as before, told him I didn't get a bill he said well your total came to $9 and change that he discounted $3. Whhhaaatttt the heck Is this guy's problem and do the owner know this is how he handles THEIR business. I will be making a phone call for sure in the a.m. they need to know that my friends and I will no longer patronize a establishment this. If he would have communicated his discount percentage I would have not eaten any of it. read more

Called 2 hours ahead to let them know i was bringing in 20 people in from all over the country for my mother's 90th birthday breakfast gathering. They said the'd let the manager know. Gave them my phone # & ask them to call if there was a problem with my request. When we arrived, the host had my info @ the podium, but said that they didn't take reservations and that they were full. When the manager came over, I asked why we were never contacted during the past 2 hours to be informed of the situation so that we could make other arrangements? He just said that I should have been told right away. I remarked that it seemed to me that it should have been his responsibility and or simply his job out of courtesy, to at least spare 10 seconds of his time to give me a call before we came in. He offered no excuse, no apology, no suggestions. He just stared @ me and my 90 year old, hungry mother like we were a bothersome annoyance. I have been coming to Country Kitchen since I moved to Platteville in 1976. Lately I've noticed the food quality has been questionable, service has been poor, and cleanliness has also been on the decline. Now I understand why. The management of a business sets the tone for how a business operates and is perceived. And based on how our family was treated today, I'm done with Country Kitchen....for good. read more

I remember when they had a country kitchen in Dubuque Iowa. Love the food always got the skillet. This one has a buffet it was ok but people had to reach over the food to get to the backside very gross ended up returning the food when a child was putting his arm in the food to reach over. Gave you a second chance Country Kitchen and you failed again. The food was late and not very good. Fruit came 15 minuets after my food and looked old as hell. I ran out of tea and never asked if i wanted more. My fiancé asked for water and it took 20 minuets. This is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Something needs to change for sure! We told the gentleman at the front and all he said was sorry. Not what went wrong, how can we fix this. You definitely lost our services for good! Below is my original review on their site from 8 months ago! I have been going to this place for 4 years now and today will be my last time coming. Our waitress (Miranda) was not very attuned to her tables. It took close to an hour to get our food. She did say sorry for the wait, she didn't come to the table during that hour to see how we were doing or to say when or how long it would be. She had missed placed food for another table as we waited. She had told a different table that someone was stealing the food and then made a comment when the guest laughed that it wasn't funny. When I was finally able to get her attention and ask how much longer it would be she said she didn't know. Once we got our food she didn't return until we had finished and gave us our check. My boyfriend's biscuits were under cooked. As well both meals were luke warm as if they had been sitting a while under the heat lamp. I am completely baffled about my services today. As we were leaving to pay the lady who rang us up didn't ask how it was or anything. She seemed to be to busy having a good ole laugh with other workers. I have worked as a waitress before and know what goes into good customer services. It was just down right awful. You certainly lost a customer today! read more

We stopped in for brunch on the 4th of July. We were pleased that they were open and did not have a wait. Despite being fairly busy, the waitress provided good service. I ordered chicken fingers w/ fries and a side of french toast, all of which were very good. My companion enjoyed his beef and eggs plate. The only downside of our experience, and the reason for 3 stars rather than 4, was that they do not serve waffles. It kind of blows my mind that a restaurant with an otherwise full service breakfast menu wouldn't serve waffles. I asked the waitress about this anomaly, and she didn't know what the reason was, but said she gets the question all the time. Dear Country Kitchen Management: Please add waffles to your breakfast menu. read more

I will never again go to this restaurant. I took my sister and my two kids and her son. We were there for an hour and a half only family in there. As soon as we sat down they expected us to order. We had no silverware so we asked for some. We got r app that was hot ( only thing we got that was hot) still no silverware. ( by now we asked 2times for it) we then got r sides for the 3 kids meals and toast for one meal. But no main dishes. When we got r main dish we both asked for cheese on r hash browns ( which we know she heard us cause she told us it was gonna be an extra charge for it) still no silverware this is 35 mins in to us being there. I then got up and went to the front and asked for silverware. Where I was greeted with attitude Eye rolls and telling me that they were busy. Again it was me my sister and our 3 kids in there with one other couple. They brought us over silverware asking how many we needed clearly we need five she brings over 4, then when we say we need five she goes on to tell us that she'll have to roll more cuz they have none. (Yet she had time to have a full on convo with a customer about him being 20mins late for his pick up) We had to send our hashbrowns back when we got our food back it was even colder and then I found hair in my food. My daughters grilled cheese was ice cold. My sister's two-year-old sons eggs were supposed to be scrambled but they were slimy and tasted horrible. My son ordered the Mr. chippy pancake and when it came out to him it had no chocolate chips in it are on it let alone whip cream. So we had to send that back. I ordered a cup of their potato soup and didn't get it through the whole meal but they charged me for it. The staff was very rude when confronted about the issues that we are having. And the managers answer to my complaints was to give you 15% off and not charge you for the soup that you never got. My bill was $75 it came down to 57. I will never eat here again it's sad because this used to be a staple for Platteville. read more

Start off it has a new face lift but same sad food. Country kitchen how can you screw up breakfast! The owner buys the cheapest cuts of meat for every entree they have. Over priced for prepackaged food. But the only game in town, will only go if desperate. read more

We eat here weekly (sometimes more than once a week) and the staff is very well trained. We've never had anyone be indifferent and in general they are very friendly. The pancakes are the best! Their ribs are excellent. The food is pretty consistent and looks like the menu photos. We've occasionally had something not quite on par with their general quality, but they have always taken care of the problem. Their prices are a little higher than similar restaurants (perkins, denny's) but that doesn't stop us. There aren't many breakfast options in Platteville, which helps them, I think. We'll keep going. read more
