We travel through Hannibal all the time but usually too much in a hurry to stop. Well today we decided to stop and make time and this is the place we chose. Many things looked good on the menu but we settled on burgers. Our waitress told us it was her 3rd day and she was still training. She did an excellent job for us. Not sure about the burgers. I work hard to make a good burger at home using all the tricks and tips I can find online but this burger was BETTER than mine. I didn't notice anything different it was just better. Fries were very tasty also. It was a great meal for both of us. We decided it must be that they season their meat better than I do. I hear that they specialize in pancakes. Maybe next time I will try that. read more

This restaurant was established in the1980 or 1990's. I've eaten there since my birth in the eighties. I've eaten there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is excellent. I'm going to complain to the state attorney general so I can get my hands on the leftovers while you're shut down. We were sat immediately. A gentleman came and brought a pot of coffee and our water. He was not a server he stated, but it was nice to get our coffee so quickly. The pot is so nice to have. Don't have to wait for your server for refills. With the shortage of help everywhere that frees up the waitress. They have a great breakfast bonanza early special Monday through Friday. I ordered from the special menu but did not receive it. She gave me a full price breakfast. I could have commented on it but it was good and it had one extra slice of French toast. Food was good. I did like the butter pecan syrup which was different for me. Just make sure server l owns what you truly are ordering. read more

We went in and the manager told us to take any table. One waitress pointedly ignored us so we figured we were not in her section. When our waitress finally came she looked us and said "well you seated yourselves huh?" at that point we left. The staff have horrible, horrible attitudes. read more

This restaurant has greatly improved over our impressions in previous years when we have visited. There is obviously new management that has streamlined the order-expedite-serve-cleanup cycle here, and the facility itself was cleaner than in the past. After a short delay in the foyer, we were seated by a courteous-but-busy server from another section. Our server then came over within a few minutes and took our drink order, and then gave us a few minutes to look over the (large) menu and then took our order. The printed menu seemed well worn, a bit tattered, and not convincingly clean. We felt that they could have used a good sterilizing and wiping down. The food, however, was very good homestyle cooking with lots of choices for all types of tastes, and even a page of items for seniors, and a selection of pies were on specials posted on the chalkboard near the entrance. Impressive to us, was how quickly tableware was removed as we finished with them. Appetizer plates disappeared almost immediately. Salad plates barely had time to settle before they were swooped up, and dinner plates were collected only a heartbeat after we finished with them. The busser was like a hawk, watching every table, and johnny-on-the-spot to make sure diners didn't have to sit over soiled dinnerware. There have been years when we only tried this restaurant once during our annual visit, but we are much more comfortable making repeat visits now that the quality and standards have been improved. We only hope that they can now maintain that level of service. read more

They are open for business unlike the majority of downtown Hannibal restaurants. Went for breakfast and ordered traditional breakfast with fresh fruit. Eggs and sausage were good. Nice variety of fruit. Hash "browns" were hardly browned at all. I've gone on a rant before about it: if you're not going to brown the potatoes, call them "hash whites". read more

Came over this morning for a break from the tyranny of IL government and we were not disappointed. We are semi-regulars here and it's always a great experience. Clean facility; friendly staff; great food. They even got our bacon right! Not easy, since my wife is a "bacon - crisp" kinda gal, where I prefer Wookie bacon (you know, a little "Chewie"). I had the crepes with real blueberries and real whip cream. my husband had eggs, hash brown, sausages and toast and he also gave it a five. our server, Kimberly, was so charming she made you feel like you were sitting in her kitchen having breakfast. After being seated in a semi-empty establishment, my kids and I had a server tell us she would be with us shortly. Then a different server took our order. She barely paid attention to us as we were talking. She stared off into space. A little odd. I ordered appetizers & a tator tot breakfast bowl. I said please, no ranch dressing. We waited 20 minutes for our appetizer (a plate of cheese curds which was brought to us by our first server) and a minute later, the first server was back again with our meal. White toast, which I didn't know I had the option of because I would've chosen wheat, and RANCH DRESSING all over my food. What the hell, man?! The food was bad, but the service was worse. Enjoyed this meal...tremendously. Our server Kim was really kind and full of personality, she has been "serving so many people that no one is a stranger to her", & I believe it! Our orders were cooked PERFECT! I do not see where this venue receives the ratings they have garnered. Food, service, quality are ALL BETTER than most Denny's that I have visited. My Chicken fried steak was prepared as it should be, with gravy that was exactly as it is shown on you tube. Onion rings, the best I have had in quite some time. Really crisp outside, soft and the clincher for me is when you take a bite, the crisp outside remains and the soft yet crunchy onion inside actually comes WITHOUT the rest of the onion out of the crispy shell. One bite, one bite serving...AWESOME! That was such a welcome surprise. I know that those little events while eating are meaningless for some or most, but for me...THOSE MOMENTS are why eating is such a passion for me. Ribeye was one of the specials and that too...nicely sized, cooked to perfection with generous portions of sides. Prices are also nice on the pocketbook too. Inexpensive for the coasts, but priced perfect for the midwest. I can only say that this restaurant(that I learned are mostly in the southern US) although a chain, is run like a local restaurant and they have been here in Hannibal for 35+ years. When traveling through this area, I will certainly be back! BREAKFAST IS SERVED ALL DAY! That alone will bring me in, now I know that the quality is above commendable, I will give them MY ENDORSEMENT. read more

This is an older restaurant building, but was clean and comfortable. Definitely an option for families. We had the special today roast beef and mashed Potatoes open faced sandwich, steamed broccoli, and strawberry chocolate crapes. My husband said his crepes were amazing. My husband and I stopped at this establishment yesterday while visiting Hannibal, we walked in stood waiting for the hostesses to seat us, no on seemed to want to help, so we seated ourselves, got our own menues, and the waitress in that section passed by us 3 times never acknowledged that we were there, we decided to leave, at that point the rude waitress for that section began getting rude with us telling us we were next, I replied I thought we were invisible because you passed our table 3 times! Nice friendly resturant, appears to be enjoyed by the locals. We are "passers by." Ordered steam med well and shrimp and cod basket. Both received 3 stars, and the steak was deducted from the bill. Super friendly and accommodating servers, genuinely good people. Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing. We had just missed the fried chicken at Mark Twain's. They had closed for the night and the staff there suggested this place. I had the Aztec quesadilla burger. Great idea but ingredients were bland. Senior Turkey dinner consists of 1 slice of turkey and two side dishes. No Stuffing. Baked potato was one of side dishes and was saturated with butter. So much for trying to live healthy. Ate the one slice of turkey in about 30 seconds and then went home to eat. I could lose a lot of weight at Country Kitchen, too bad I am not overweight now. Waitress had an attitude also. Seemed upset when asked where the turkey dressing was. Don't plan on meeting me at Country Kitchen anytime soon. read more

Completely unsatisfied. Waitress took ten minutes to bring us our drinks. Please note, restaurant was not busy at all, only three other tables occupied. Took another 45 minutes to get our food when everything we ordered only took ten to fifteen minutes to prepare. When we got our food, my child's meal was completely burnt and unedible. I sent it back immediately. After that the waitress seemed to have an attitude and did not come back around to check on us after bringing out the corrected meal for my kid. We did not get refills, only one person out of four got silverware, and we had to go wait by the front to get the waitress to bring us our ticket. The restaurant itself was not well kept and seemed dingy. I WILL NOT be eating here ever again and i DO NOT advise that anyone else does either! read more

We stopped there for breakfast today. No one paid any attention to us so I sat down on the bench expecting a long wait. There may have been as many as 10 tables occupied. We were seated and waited 20 minutes and finally asked another waitress who had been chatting with another table and summoned by another table for assistance. I asked her if a waitress was on duty for our table section. She said she would get that waitress as the section we were seated in wasn't hers. A time later a waitress came for our order. She had a real attitude. I asked if the hashbrowns could be traded out of pancakes and french toast. Said I will ask. I mentioned other diners do this and said I HOP's will. She said sarcastically ''this isn't I HOP's if you didn't notice. She came back later and said, management said they would give us back 50 cents on the hash brown and add the pancake and french toast. The food was cold when we got it, her attitude continued. When I went to pay the bill, this is what they did. Took 60 cents off for the hashbrowns and charged us 3.25 for a pancake and 1.79 for french toast. I paid it and kept the receipt, will be sending a copy to corporate with the name of the very rude waitress. read more
