I don't usually eat crust because it's just not worth the carbs, but this one was! Also a proper cheese-lover's amount of cheese on top! So good and baked well. I'd come back for this anytime. A fabulous breakfast and the perfect size for one person. We also got the brussel sprout sweet potato hash, which also comes hot and in an adorable little bowl (all their dishes are eclectic and cute). Also great, altho I added a little salt to mine. We also ordered mochas, half sweet, which were delicious. All in all, a great selection of items that I would come back and order again in a heartbeat. Service was so friendly, informative and accommodating. Everything came out quickly, there was excellent communication and they checked on us throughout. These are really kind people who definitely care about the quality of their food.

I also had them do my gender reveal cake recently and it was cute and delicious. My SIL who isn't even a fan of chocolate was impressed and asked where it came from. I sent them the gender info via email and they were so kind coordinating what flavor cake we wanted with what would work to show off the color even doing a test run ahead of time with frosting and calling me back to let me know without ruining anything. My first thought was going to Strachn this late was probably not a good idea. When I pulled into the parking lot, there were several cars parked in front of the bakery, and a few more pulled in as I parked my vehicle and walked towards the door. Much to my surprise, there was still many selections displayed. I tried a couple new items - a cherry filled jelly donut and strawberry cinnamon roll. Both were quite good. The strawberry cinnamon roll was just a faint taste of strawberry as I was hoping for more. I was greeted by those behind the counter as I entered the bakery. Service was friendly and helpful. Small donut shop that is make a purchase and go = no tables inside or out. This bakery has been around for quite some time, and I think it has a lot to do with pricing and good tasting products. Each donut was $1.50 regardless of the choice made.

Certain items are worth the splurge- e.g., the homemade potato salad in the deli section... Soooo good!! They also carry a number of homemade soups. Again, this doesn't replace the pleasure of walking into a hometown shopping store. I also love that they hire people with disabilities - love love to experience this! Still, based on the pricing, I need to rate this store at 4 stars, as much as I love and recommend them for excellent quality and for carrying certain items that are difficult to find elsewhere (my mom loves Kasia's sauerkraut dumplings)! This place offers a lot of baked goods and has a ton of variety. The service was great and the workers were friendly and helpful. In regard to the donuts, they are some solid donuts and have lots of options from yeast to classic cake ones and specialty ones like fritters. For me the donuts were a bit dry across the board, especially the fritter. I tend to like a more crispy, airy fritter and this was more cake like so if that is your cup of tea then you will definitely like this fritter. There also were no apple pieces in mine which was a bit of a bummer, but good flavor. The other donuts were pretty basic, the frosting is SUPER sweet, too sweet for me and it was a bit overpowering especially for the apple filled. The maple persian was VERY GOOD! It was a cinnamon bun donut with the maple Persian icing, super yummy and I would recommend it as that specific donut was airy and light. the cake donuts were good, a bit dry but good flavor. I wish the sour cream donut was crispier but I just do not think that is their style here so it is whatever you like! Regardless, a cute place for sure and I love supporting local bakeries and shops like this whenever I can.
