My favorites in order: The Pirate Ship (the best story and timeline as you journey through) Ghost Town (really cool puzzles) The Scary One (SO MANY PUZZLES) Supernova (Really cool theme - some hard math I needed help with) Murder Mansion (I didn't really enjoy this one as much) Pharoah's Curse (took too many people and this is an easier room - this one you could easily do with less than 4 people) The gamemasters are good - sometimes they are young people who are nervous and speak too fast, but we have always enjoyed the service there. read more

The puzzles in the time travel escape room were either WAY too easy to WAY too time consuming. We solved puzzles out of order accidently on multiple occasions but there are two puzzles that eat up a lot of your clock and neither are very fun. The set of of that room was really cool, just not some of the gameplay. read more

We wanted a Medium difficulty game and had the one we wanted to do picked out and the guy gave us a hard one and told us it was a medium. I saw on your guys website that the one he gave us was hard. We didn't complete it in time. My partner had never been to an escape room and I only a few times. Lowkey was disappointed, the guy should've let us do the one we wanted and were confident in. We love the countdown games and have played almost every game at the Hamburg location. Most of the time we escape but there have been two we need to try again. The frustrating thing about some of the puzzles is that even if you understand what needs to happen but make a mistake halfway through you have to start completely over without messing up. read more

I've been addicted to escape rooms over the last year and the two rooms I did at Countdown today made my 13th and 14th run. I have had the opportunity to participate franchised escape rooms, independent escape rooms, and a pretty low tech super minimalistic escape room. Now that I've prefaced that... Countdown is the most impressive escape rooms I've seen. They look amazing. The experience feels authentic. Now, with that being said, Countdowns games are not as hard as some of the other rooms I've. You have unlimited clues and your game master tends to join in if you are doing something wrong or looking on the wrong spot for a clue. But I don't appreciate Countdown for how hard or easy they are - I appreciate them for how amazing the effects are in the rooms. You truly feel like you are in a castle in the castle. You feel like you are in a pyramid in Pharaohs curse. You feel like you are in an episode of Saw in the abduction. Definitely give Countdown a shot. You won't regret it. read more

At countdown they have some of the best designed and quality game ever seen. I definitely recommend the prison break. Since me and my have starting coming I've seen her thought process in and outside the game change. I highly recommend any father, grab your children and run to this place. It's a great opportunity to teach your children how to reason and think problems thru as well as demonstrate those processes in challenging yet able to solve scenarios. Take a deep breath before you go and and just enjoy yourself. Hint, don't be too hard headed to ask for hints, it's best to continue the process then stuck on one things forever. My girlfriend and I had an awesome time with pharaohs curse! Our game master was great and very helpful. I liked that there weren't any combination locks, it makes it feel like you have a little more time to solve puzzles and decipher clues. Compared to other escape rooms we've done, this one was more spacious and physically interactive. We did the bank heist and it was different than any other escape room we have done. The variables involved were much more than a regular escape the room type situation. Incredible. I had played an escape game at Breakout games here in Lexington once and when my fiancé mentioned wanting to go to Countdown, I expected more of the same. I was wrong. Countdown was infinitely better, they made Breakout look extremely low budget. Our game-master, Noah, was awesome. He made the game exciting, went above and beyond to make the game feel "real," and was extremely helpful when we got stuck (without just giving away the solutions.) We traveled 2.5 hours to play 3 games in one day. I have to say we were not disappointed. Myself, Husband and 2 grown sons started our day with Bank Heist, went to eat lunch came back for Pharos Curse and ended the afternoon with Shock and Awe So here is a breakdown of the rooms no spoilers: Bank Heist - probably my favorite of the day and well since this is from my point of view there ya go! Enjoyed the theatrics, props, puzzles and the scaled victory concept was new and exciting and extremely enjoyable. The game is immersive and feels like you are pulling a real bank heist!! Bravo !! Pharos Curse - the room is immersive with all the bells and whistles and full soundtrack straight from the Pharos himself. I enjoyed the room, a couple of the puzzles are complex and almost require a hint to get you pointed in the right direction. If I had any criticism that would be it. Shock and awe- fun and quirky room with some pretty cool surprises. I found myself standing around more than participating at various times as this is one puzzle at a time type room. I still enjoyed the room and the buildout and props are on target and perfect for the theme/storyline All in all it was a successful escape day, we were able to escape all 3 rooms with just the 4 of us, and each of us brought away a difference experience and different favorites about each room. This is a top notch facility with a helpful and knowledgeable staff, we will be back in December with the rest of the family to do the other rooms!!! read more

We have done a lot of escape rooms all over the country and this is by far, the best place ever!! We did four rooms in one day ( since we were only stopping in to Lexington for the day) but we had a fantastic time! Our game master Isa was outstanding! The rooms were challenging and had a good flow to them. My favorite was the Time Machine. Very creative! But the full size pirate ship room was pretty awesome as well! Staying at the Gorge on a rain day, out 14-15th escape rooms. Very well made, if your an engineer you will love this place. Decor is superb, and the games are challenging and well thought out. We did the Castle and followed up with Abduction. Highly recommend if you enjoy these types of games. We had 4 adults and 3 teens. Both of these games will need at least 4, and depending on your team abilities 6 could be too many. Both we escaped from where mostly linear but still Had enough that everyone was mostly involved. This is our second visit to Countdown Games, and after visiting many of these escape rooms on our travels, I have to say that this is the nicest, best run one we have ever visited. The staff was pleasant, friendly, and helpful. We chose The Castle escape this time. It is billed as the largest escape room in the world. It's 35 tall and spans 3 levels. You can tell that they have invested a lot of time and money into making this a first class experience. There is a great blend of technology and basic problem solving in this escape. My family and I really enjoyed the adventure and we got out in 49 minutes. read more

I came here on a Saturday night with 9 other people. My friend reserved our room weeks in advance, but I was able to pay that night when I arrived. That was nice, that my friend didn't have to advance the money for the entire group, and then have to juggle getting paid back from everyone. The staff member who helped us was really nice. We chose the Pharaoh themed room. When we entered the room I thought it looked a little sparse and small. However after we solved a couple of puzzles another room opened up, and later on in the game another room opened up too! I enjoyed this escape game more than the breakout games. The breakout games have locks on clues and you have to solve puzzles to get combinations, but with the countdown games the puzzles that we solved went with the theme of the room. They were part of the story line. In addition there were some "special effects" that occur after you solve a couple of puzzles. We broke out! Similarities with Breakout Games: -Staff member can give you three clues if you ask him to throughout the evening -Staff will take your picture afterward with the time it took you to break out Differences: -Puzzles are more unique and less black light and lock driven -The game occurs in multiple rooms. -Voice recordings play to aide in the story -You can reserve rooms beforehand without having to pay for the entire group I like both places, but I think that the Countdown Games has the edge over the Breakout Games. read more

Before Yelp! invited myself and Mr. Esq. to their fantastic sneak peek event at Countdown Games, I had been an escape game virgin. No, I didn't wear white for the occasion, but I definitely feel like this is one venue we will be starting a semi-casual relationship with. Like some of the other reviewers have commented, the space is huge...and two stories. Our dubbed escape was to disable a bomb set by a crazed killer, and all nine of us were able to work semi-comfortably in the space which included secret bookcase doors, hidden USB drives and a few puzzles that have you up and down the staircase, getting that cardio in and bringing back your nail biting habit as you clip that final wire. I'd definitely come back again, maybe with a slightly smaller group, just because it was sometimes hard to keep track of who was working on which part of the puzzle. I'd say 4-6 is probably an ideal group size, and even older kids would have fun with this on a family night or just as a great summer escape. What an awesome venue for a group outing. I was expecting a cheesy generic find a code, unlock this door, everybody wins type of place. Was I wrong on this one. The vault themed game made me use all of my oceans 11/Italian job/ Dora the explorer skills to steal 1.4 million dollars out of a bank. This one was very challenging but fun. Next we spent an hour in the clue style mansion for some "who is it " type stuff. Very fun with a large group as well. The sets was top notch and very creative.
