This is only the second escape room we have gone to, and found this one much more enjoyable. I like the fact that on a date night it could just be my wife and I doing this together instead of having other groups join us. They have rooms that are large enough for groups from 2 to 6 people and rooms for 2 to 10 people. The puzzles were tricky, some quite difficult, but a lot of fun to solve. Kristen was our game master and she did a great job. She was full of energy and got us hyped up before we went in. There were items in the room that you could tell people had been a bit rough with, but overall the place was well kept, clean, and fully functional. Also, and importantly, the restroom was clean. We definitely intend to go back and try their other rooms. read more

There's a reason this place has a five star rating: it was awesome! Me and my wife have never been to an escape room, well we finally got a chance to go and dragged some buddies along for the ride. Our host was friendly, and very helpful. We did the electric room, and it was very fun! I felt as though it was very challenging, yet not so hard that it was beatable. Lots of genius things in the room that come into play at some point. The whole experience makes you think all while having a good time. Having a hard time? Ask to use one of your free clues! You get three, and can earn a fourth--which you'll have to figure out yourself. Would definitely go again and try the other rooms. My husband and I (avid escape room players) and my father-in-law (total newbie) had a great time escaping Phobia! We are so thankful for the wonderful customer service provided by Greg when my husband accidentally booked for the wrong day online. Greg was able to correct it promptly over the phone. And Rex , I think was his name, was a splendid game master and was kind enough to chat with us and then let us in the room early when we arrived early. The owner is super nice and friendly and always up for a chat. Weve gone and done two different rooms here and each time he stopped and took the time to tell us about his vision and his inspiration for the rooms. The puzzles were on the easier side for me, but I do a lot of escape rooms so I think that I may be bias. Also their hardest room was closed for a redo when we went. I'll be excited to go back and give that one a try! The theming is on point! I would definitely recommend going to this place if you are new to or a pro escape room player. read more

I have wanted to experience an escape room for quite a while! This weekend, as part of my birthday celebration, the family and I participated in the The Ransom escape!! Everything from entering the lobby until we left was top notch! The staff are super friendly and encouraging. We were taken to our room by our guide, Alex (he was awesome!) and given instructions about the situation, the various locks, and other details. There were 3 separate rooms full of clues and puzzles. It was amazing how the clues demanded group thought and participation to be solved! While challenging, the clues and puzzles could be mastered if one approached each from various angles until things fell into place! Three hints can be requested from your guide during the allotted time, but any further hints take time away. It was amazing how your guide watches you progress via video and sometimes offers a little gentle guidance! We escaped with 9 minutes to spare. Our group had members with a variety of ages, and each member later discussed how much fun the experience was. Definitely something for any group! We used a Groupon to help with the cost and at the end of our experience we were give a coupon for 10% off next visit (within allotted timeframe). I would love to go back and experience the other rooms that are available! Parking is plentiful as the venue is in a complex of multiple buildings. It was a slight big confusing upon arrival to find the entrance. When you find the 1500 building, look down a long walkway between it and another building, the entrance is down that walkway! This place rocks!! We came with a group of 15 people and completed the ransom and electro vault rooms. The clues were challenging enough that you had to work for them, but still accomplishable. Our game master, Megg, was absolutely wonderful! She was very helpful and patient with us as we asked for clues. This place is amazing, a great way to team build and hang out! I did the randsom room with three other girls 12 years old and even though we didn't escape it was an opportunity of a lifetime! I definitely would love to try more rooms and have more fun with it! The only thing i would recommend is that when the operator speaks on the speaker there should be a sign that he is speaking. My friends and i got so scared of the voice that we didn't even hear what it was saying! We had soooo much fun here! We did the Ransom room and it was just awesome. We went to dinner after and couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had! I'm glad we had six people, we were all able to contribute one way or another and ended up working well together! Our family loves to do fun stuff together, and this was just perfect for us! My dad said it was the most fun he's had with the family in a long time! I had the chance to visit Countdown Louisville this past weekend for a friend's birthday party and we all had an incredible time! As soon as we arrived the staff was friendly and welcoming (even though we were crazy early). They not only allowed us to hangout while we waited, but the staff spent time answering all our questions (and my husband had A LOT) about their experiences with escape rooms, the differences in the rooms, etc. It was great hearing how passionate they were about their jobs. We did the ransom room and it was a blast. We loved the music theme and the clever ways in which they incorporated it. We also enjoyed the multiple room aspect of it. It was very linear in nature which at times made it hard for our whole group (7 of us) to all be doing something at the same time, but that was also part of the fun of it! For the most part, we all got to experience each one of the clues and work together to figure them out rather than doing our own thing. After we escaped (yay!), our room guide took us through the room and answered any questions we had. He gave us information about where people get the most stumped, the things we did well, and showed us some other ways to solve specific clues that we had missed. I liked that there was more than one way to solve a clue which was different from some other rooms I've done. We can't wait to go back and try the Survival room! read more

I've been to a few different escape rooms around Louisville, and this one immediately stood out. The place is very clean and well-organized, and the staff is super-friendly and helpful. We did Electrovault. It was much more challenging than the simple "look everywhere and find random keys hidden underneath stuff" that we've gotten at other escape rooms - this one clearly took some thought and real ingenuity. Without giving away any spoilers, there are a lot of really cool, very interactive aspects that clearly took some time to come up with and to develop, and that definitely make it all seem much more engaging, fun, and realistic! The staff was incredibly responsive whenever we were using clues (even kind enough to throw a few random ones out there just because they noticed us stuck at one place or another). I think a lot more went into these games, their setup, the building and development of the props, etc. than you will see at any other escape room in town. And yet it is also one of the most affordable. If you're into this sort of thing, then this is definitely the place to check out (if you haven't already)! read more

Went to Countdown Louisville for the first time a couple weeks ago and we had so much fun. Unlike other escape rooms we had done, this one had multiple rooms within the same game which made it much more exciting. We did Survival and Ransom and both were great. We killed it at Survival, having the fastest escape yet surprisingly enough, Ransom took us a little longer than expected even though it is supposed to be easier. The rooms are really well thought out and there is incredible attention to detail. The staff is very friendly and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

We used a Groupon for the Ransom room and it saved us a bunch off the regular rate. We were greeted by Joey, our host, and he did a great job welcoming us and explaining the rules to our group. This is the second escape room I've done in town. I won't name the other here in this review, but I will say Countdown was SO much better. I think our host's name was Chris (now thinking I may have gotten that wrong, sorry!), and he was friendly and helpful. I had bought a Groupon and booked online, and the whole process was very easy. We only brought four people despite the Groupon being for up to eight. This was intentional on our part, because one of the people in our group didn't want to do it with strangers, haha! The room we did (Ransom) is meant for up to 8 people, so if we hadn't bought out all the spots we could've been paired with people we didn't know. The experience inside the room was good. You definitely need to hit the ground running and be in a frame of mind to do logic puzzles. I'll admit we got a slow start, but we pulled it out in the end and escape with about 100 seconds to spare. It's hard to review without revealing any spoilers or clues, but I will say that we had a lot of fun and I'd return to do another room if I had friends/family who wanted to. I'd certainty recommend Countdown to other people who are interested in an escape room experience. read more

Our leader, the Escape Room Fiend, called ahead and got us a private slot and Greg was our personal game master, he was awesome. We went with our two young children (age 8 and 12) and completed the Ransom room. My husband and our youngest had never done an escape room before and they both LOVED it. It was a fun experience to do as a family. The 8 year old felt useful turning keys and entering codes we deciphered but it was certainly a challenging room for the rest of us. Eight of us did the Ransom room. A non linear room (you can work multiple directions at once and not be held up by one clue in order to go to the next) - this makes a big difference when you have a group of people with varied opinions and problem solving abilities. We used 3 of the 4 free clues and got out with a little over 10 minutes to spare. We did this for our first family outing since Covid. Makenzie was our guide and she was amazing! We really had a great time and it was very organized and overall a wonderful experience. Until after we accidentally left a light on and we needed a jump for our truck. When I went in to ask if anyone could give us a jump really fast, Makenzie was very nice and she was not able to leave to help. So, she asked the owner and he was so rude I was taken back. He was so sh***y about it and sot pretty nasty with me. So then the people would were going in to do an escape room were going to give us a jump, so they went in to tell him and he got nasty with them and pretty much said they could not give us a jump! This guy was super rude and it was so uncalled for. Needless to say the people told him they were coming to help us and he was mad about it! I can not believe he was so rude. read more

Awesome place! My kids ages 17, 16, 12 and 10 had a blast! Definitely going back! The best part was the scary voice that gives you tips in the background. WE LOVED COUNTDOWN! I went with a group of my friends for my 19th birthday and it was so much fun! We played the ransom room, and as someone who has played many escape rooms in the past, it was very fun and a great challenge. The theme of the room was really cool with lots of fun music memorabilia from the sixties. Our game master Greg was awesome! He designed all of the rooms at Countdown and the care and thought he has put into his rooms is very clear. He was very kind to our goofy bunch. He even shared with us the psychology behind his rooms and even gave us a sneak peak into his work in progress. We plan on going back tomorrow to play another room! 6/5 highly recommend Countdown! read more
