This was a total waste of money. It cost$25 for a few minutes. It wasn't scary at all and the staff was very rude.

Paranormal treasure [Louisville KY]…read more Hubby wanted to do this tour when he learned that it was located in Louisville. I tried booking online thru Eventbrite but all tours that weekend were fully booked. I decided to give it a shot and called them. They were able to squeeze us in the first tour of the evening which was 9:00p. We arrived 15 mins early as instructed and made our way inside the gothic building. As many other curious visitors of Waverly Hills we were in search of history, architecture and the paranormal. There was a sign posted inside as we were registering: "This establishment is reported to be Haunted. Management is NOT responsible and cannot be held liable for any actions of any Ghosts/Spirits on these premises." www.theRealWaverlyHIlls.com Background: Waverly Hills Sanatorium was a former tuberculosis hospital in Louisville KY. TB was widespread in the area, resulting in a waiting list to stay at the sanatorium. Despite its name, Waverly Hills was not a mental hospital; a sanatorium is any institution that provides treatment and convalescence for chronic illnesses. Our tour guide was a member of the Historical Society. The experience included a guided tour where we were lead, at least partially, across all 5 floors and we also had the chance to look down the body chute. Waverly Hills has a reputation as one of the most haunted places in America and has been featured on ghost hunting shows as "Ghost Hunters," "Ghost Adventures," "Paranormal Lockdown," and "Buzzfeed Unsolved." There were some 30 of us in the tour... the historical stories shared with us were interesting and cool but I did not feel any of the following: full grabs, see shadows, apparitions, or shadow people, feel permanent residents walking up to people, taps, temp changes-cold spots, or hotspots, heard screams, footsteps nor door slamming. Too many people on our tour but I can't complain because we were just lucky to get in as extras. Waverly Hills Sanatorium is on the National Register of Historic Places for both its significance historically, as well as the architectural significance of the building. Review #3911

Just from my experience alone, I can tell the employees here really love working here as tour guides. They care for the building, it's history, and it's past patients. The staff are very informative on the history and building and love to share what they know when asked! A lovely experience and was a longer tour than expected for being a mini-tour. The haunted house had a decent amount of scare actors and the overall decoration and atmosphere were great. They provide food and drinks for purchase after, as well as a small gift shop. Notice: Bathrooms are accessible AFTER the haunted house. Until you reach the exit, there are port-a-potties available before you enter the building.

For our first haunted house, and especially being one of the very few open during the Covid-19…read morepandemic, my friend and I were very excited to visit the Haunted Hotel. Firstly, I'd like to commend the staff on a few things. There were attendees outside who were enforcing the six foot rule, were making sure people were wearing protective masks, and were keeping the line lively with costumed actors chasing people around. It set a great atmosphere that showed you what to prepare for inside, that it would be both safe and unsettling. The interior of the haunt was tremendous, as each room and even the transition spaces were decorated well. A variation of atmospheres made for an exciting journey through what felt like an endless maze. Where Haunted Hotel really lost myself, my friend, and our teenage accomplices is the actors. Several actors only stood motionless, staring "creepily" as we passed by. Not intimidating or scary at all. A few that were great included the first actor, who introduces you, the man in the elevator, and the girl in the church. One girl at the bottom of the stairs tried and performed well, but beyond them, a lot of people were either ill-prepared to scare people or simply pointed and said "that way" to guide us out. One girl, dressed as the nun from the Conjuring series only said "hurry the f*ck up" as we passed, not doing anything to scare us. As we were leaving, prepared for the inevitable chainsaw chase-out, the actor was smoking and we startled him as we entered the room. Not the best thing to see to leave a lasting impression. Overall, you can tell the love that was put into the building as the sets were phenomenal. For most of the actors though, a scare class is needed. What I will compliment the business on is that each actor had a mask that was compliant with the restrictions. Sadly though, after spending $25 to enter and then waiting in line for two hours, my high excitement was deflated rather quickly. Here's hoping they improve as the season continues.

We even had the guy managing the line outside tell us to scoot closer to the people in front of us. We refused especially because people on the other side of the line that looped next to us weren't wearing their masks. My group was only 5 people so they put us with another small group. I thought that was weird because I think on their site they said that they were only putting people with their groups and not combining. The best thing is that the actors cannot touch you. I know haunted houses this year are weird but we still have to enforce these things especially with rates skyrocketing. Now to the scares... I had a blast. It was my sons first time at a haunted house and he kinda enjoyed himself. He was scared lol and I thought that was funny too. I convinced him to go because I told him that they can't touch you this year. Best time to go!! The beginning is what got us. They lined us up in this room and then turned all the lights off. It was pitch black. When the lights came on, the actors were standing right in front of us. You couldn't even hear them come in. That scared my son so bad. I knew this was going to be great lol. Once we started he had his ears covered the entire time. I laughed the entire time at him and the one actor that had the "dead baby". Good times!! I would go again.

Staff and actors were professional with excellent makeup and costumes, although Freddy Krueger was my favorite. Be sure to vote for standout actors as you leave. We did not pay for the fast pass options and had very minimal waits, but that may have been because it was early October. I've been later in the month before and definitely wished our group had bought them, although standing in the lines can be entertaining in itself and actors are often strolling by and interacting with people. They shoot a real gun with blanks and it was so loud and directly in my ear, no warning or anything. My ear was ringing for 30 minutes. The maze was actually pretty good. After we spent another $20 a person for the fast pass because we got tired of standing in that line for almost two hours. By that time it was about 12am. My only complaint on the maze would be some areas are dark and inside some of the buildings are confusing and we went the wrong way a couple times. lol. However they could have more people in some of the buildings. I think 3/4 buildings were completely empty while others had 2/5 people inside and out. Also they have some strobe lights so bright and directly in your face. The worse part was the crawl space in the barn, it was kinda pointless and very dark. My favorite was the slide leaving the barn. It's very steep and kinda fast so if you don't like that then I would recommend the steps but for me that part was fun. Some of the actors really put time into what they do while others just sit there or stand there. Overall I spent $120 for two people and had a decent time. Only got scared twice & that's because you can kinda tell when they're gonna jump out or where they're gonna be standing lol. We went at 9:45 and left a little after 1AM. I would definitely recommend spending the extra money and getting the fast pass. I feel like most of my time I was standing in lines.

The series is a may through august event where about once a month they will project a horror/sci fi type movie on a blow up outdoor projector. And it is completely free. A little back story on the name. The legend of Pope lick revolves around a train trestle and urban legends of a goatman. The nearby train trestle has been a popular urban legend and ghost hunter attraction . UnFortunately the trestle is very active and thrill seekers have lost there lives over the years. For more info you can Google goat man Lousiville and there is a whole wiki page for it. So the creature feature plays off the goat man or legend of Pope lick aurora. I first became away of this festival a few years ago and they were showing much scariest films like Friday the 13th and night of the living dead. They have food trucks, concessions, merch stands and people dressed up and I had heard it was a really cool fun event. This past Saturday night in June 2021 me and family came and seen Men in black. Very nice open field and very large screen. The sound quality was shockingly great. Very loud and clear. Better then any normal drive in theatre ive been too. You park in the parking lot and bring a chair or blanket to the field and take your seats. As mentioned they have cool and spooky decor and people in costumes. They have a concession that sales snacks and merch. Indoor bathrooms. Food trucks like Kona ice and they even had guys with telescopes offering free looks at the moon. Very cool. The kids also enjoyed the nearby playground. Me and my children had a blast. We had perfect weather and enjoyed the old classic will smith movie and the atmosphere. They are showing Jurassic park next month and we plan on coming back. We will try and come to as many of these as possible. Very fun, free, and creative event series that hopefully continues for a long time.
