Birthday party was so much fun, the art teacher was so sweet and did amazing with our guest's variable age group (4-8). Friendly staff, cozy cute place for creating art, AND if you haven't already tried the Gelato..... well then you must! It's so delicious and flavors are always variable so keep an eye out because they may not be the same flavors when you come back! Even if you dont do art, at least try the gelato, you wont regret it!

I found The Art Cottage and learned that they do watercolor classes-and figured I'd give it a try. You do need to call or go online to reserve your spot-space is limited. I called and was able to get in easily for the day and time that worked for my schedule. I showed up a few minutes early and was setup at my station with paint, paper & brushes. I was ready to go! The class was brief-I learned a few basic strokes and techniques in watercolor. Gradient painting where you start very light and work your way into the darkest version of a color. I also learned the "wet on wet" and "wet on dry" techniques and when it would be appropriate to use each. I also learned how to fix mistakes and turn them into more intentional pieces of the art. I really channeled my inner Bob Ross turning things into birds and clouds. After the instruction, I was set loose to do a painting. There were some binders full of examples to provide inspiration, but no step by step instruction, which is different from other canvass/acrylic painting classes I've done elsewhere. I applied the techniques I had learned in the lesson and some suggestions from the instructor. Although my painting might not be one worthy of hanging in a gallery, I enjoyed myself and would recommend taking a class to anyone who might be mildly interested in watercolor.

We purchased the canvas and also opted for an $8 glass of vino to help get the creative juices flowing! The two hours were fun and the instruction by Hanna was great. We used acrylic paints (which were easy to work with), and three sizes of brushes: The Big Mama 1", "The Bob"...aka Bob Ross medium-sized, and the "Baby" (thin) brush. Hanna was a wonderful - and patient - instructor, and being the first time painting made it all a lot of fun. She walked around, helping folks and responding to everyone's questions. She provided additional paint as needed, and the whole experience was very pleasant. Hanna took pictures of all of us at the end (using our cell phones), and all four of us left with our canvases! A good time was had by all! We'll be back....maybe for the black-light painting event...but next time we'll bring our own three brushes as the ones provided were a little bent at the brush end. Four Stars.

I had such an incredible time at Crafted Rings! I love the idea of being able to create my own…read morering, and Cole took me step-by-step through the process and helped me to do as much as I could on my own. Now I have not only a cool new ring but something I can say I crafted myself! After selecting a design, the first step of the process was hand carving the ring out of wax - making the ring big enough for my finger and shaping the pattern on the outside. All the necessary tools were provided and were easy to use, especially with Cole's tips and expertise. (As someone with very limited experience with creating anything by hand, I very much appreciated this!) This step had the most amount of time allocated to it, and does require a degree of delicateness with the wax and patience with the process and with yourself. Luckily, Cole was also able to help undo or cover up mistakes (or weld the ring back together when the wax snapped - which definitely didn't happen five or six times ) Next, we used the wax ring to create a sand mold into which the silver for the ring could be poured. This doesn't take long, but prepping the mold also requires some delicate work. Again, Cole was there to help with corrections and mistakes. Since I was there by myself, I may have had a chance to be a bit more involved in preparing the silver for pouring into the mold than a group may have been able to. After the mold was ready, we used a torch to melt the silver and Cole poured the silver into the mold in one smooth, expert motion. The ring formed and cooled quickly, so within a minute or so we were putting the finishing touches on the final product. Finally, after some "pruning," sanding, and polishing, I have an awesome ring I can truly call my own! If you've ever wanted to craft something yourself worthy of being an heirloom that you could truly cal your own, or if you're looking for a meaningful gift of jewelry that isn't marked up to ridiculous prices just to take advantage of you, (OR if you just want to experience imagining yourself forging your own Ring Of Power in the fires of Mount Doom) I can absolutely recommend Crafted Rings!

Creating unique handmade rings was a process like no other. With Cole and Kayla's encouragement and guidance, our experience was memorable and so much fun! We carved our rings out of Wax and when we needed assistance, Cole and Kayla were there to help. This was such a memorable experience for my daughter and I to share, and I highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in the Salt Lake City area! So much fun! The product is awesome, but the process was even better!

I am so happy to see that Kidzart is offering Pallet Up summer classes at their studio in Murray!…read moreI discovered these adult art classes when I began taking Art Innovators classes through community ed at the Canyons School District. Their curriculum never repeats so all of the projects are different and they use a wide range of mediums so you get to try new and different ones at every class and they provide all the supplies so all you bring to class is you. Just this past year I have used charcoal, chalk pastels, watercolor, Prismacolor markers and acrylic to name a few. The teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. The classes are structured so that at the end of each one you have created a finished work of art ready to frame. Best of all, they welcome all skill levels so you never feel intimidated even if you are a beginner like me. If you are looking for art classes that are in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price I highly recommend Pallet Up!
