Everyone in the front office (Lety and Zach) are extremely nice and helpful. However, they sent out an extremely rude technician (Albert). From the moment we met, he was unfriendly and sullen. Ahead of time, I told Cother Air that this was a house that was an absolute mess. When Albert arrived, he walked into the house about 10 feet and said, "I don't think I can do this." He walked out of the house without saying a word AND lacked the common courtesy to close the door behind him. I am a senior citizen with cancer! DO NOT take your chances here. They sent out two technicians that lied to me saying I need to replace MY WHOLE AC UNIT. They said my compressor and fan broke. Both at the same time? That didn't sound right. I got another company to check it out and all I needed was refrigerant and a compressor replaced. We're talking almost a 10x increase in cost. When we first contracted with Cother for annual service and check-ups, everything was great. In the last 6 months however, we have experienced a number of issues. One of their techs discovered previous HVAC installations were not properly checked after installation which resulted in the need for new services due to loss of coolant in our AC system. This created a cascading list of failures in our primary AC unit to include the loss of the compressor. In the subsequent checks and repairs we were given estimates of time for repairs and installation that were dramatically off. What was estimated to be an afternoon job of a couple hours turned into two days. It required multiple inquiries to determine why as the technicians were not forthcoming at all about the issues they were having. We also had a situation where Cother's technicians literally stole the compressor saver off one of our AC units. We noticed something was wrong when we started having 'brown outs' when our primary AC unit kicked on. This led us to believe there was an issue with the compressor savers. When we inspected the unit, we found the compressor saver was no longer installed. Cother's technicians did not make any comment on the removal of the compressor saver in any way and therefore, we consider it to have been out right stolen. When called to task on this issue, Cother sent a tech to install a new one, however, a less technically minded home owner never would have known what the problem was and would not have been able to catch the fact their technicians stole a piece of hardware worth approximately $100 (Not including installation cost). read more

I was visiting my 99-year old mother on a Saturday evening when her AC went out. I made some calls, the problem was getting a tech to come right away vs the next day or day after. My brother suggested Cother. The tech (Jesus) called me back within 10 mins and was there within 30 mins. He found the problem quickly (electrical, parts gone bad), explained the issue clearly and got the unit working again within an hour. The bill was not loaded with after-hours fees or padded with labor costs - 80% was for the two parts. I was grateful Cother got my mother cool again and would definitely use them in the future. read more

Horrible service. Had them replace an old AC and the new one obviously isn't working correctly. Our electric bills are higher than before and it never cuts off. When I talk to the owner, he constantly lies about what he is going to do to fix the problem. I just want a working unit. His technicians have been rude and talked down to me. I honestly have never been treated so badly in all my life. When we replaced our other unit, the company went out of business. ....I miss them terribly. Never had one day of problems with that unit. Don't trust him, he is a liar and a cheater. He wants your money and then they disappear like thieves in the night. read more

Cother installed my new AC in 2013. Luckily I was in the attic and saw my drip pan was not emptying properly. I called Monday at a 8 and a service tech was there by 9:30. He fixed it and told me how to prevent the need to unplug slime from drain line again. Simple Green NOT Clorox. As I had a maintenance contract no charge for service call just work work done. Very happy as no need to replace sheet rock. read more

Very quick and professional service!! My gas furnace started exhausting a strange odor into my house just as a winter storm was approaching with ice and snow IN HOUSTON? I was worried about carbon monoxide getting into the house. I had to shut off the gas to it. I called Cother Monday afternoon and got a preliminary estimate over the phone for a new furnace. They sent a rep to look at it that day. I agreed on a Ruud system. Their crew came the next morning and replaced the entire furnace in 4 hours! The crew was quick, clean and very polite. And best of all, I had a working furnace heating up my home for my wife and kids just as the ice storm was starting to pelt the house. After they put the old heat exchanger outside, I was able to verify cracks in it. My concerns about carbon monoxide poisoning were right on. Could have been a disaster. Cother Air Conditioning & Heating's price was very fair, their service was professional and quick, and all trash was taken away when they left. We used Cother for years, and they were great at seasonal "check ups" and replacing the occasional filter. They installed our A/C back in the day. However, when time came to put the 10 year parts-and-labor warranty to use they themselves provided, they claimed bureaucracy over service. Quite frankly, they hid behind the small words and refused to service their client. We're guessing they were hoping we'd give up and pay them a full price to fix our unit in spite of the fact that we were under warranty. We chose to replace the entire unit instead, and never - ever - call them again. read more

I've used Cother Air Conditioning for several years now. I used their services to replace the entire a/c unit for my mom's home several years ago. They did a great job at a reasonable price. I was a little disappointed when I called for service on my own central a/c unit this morning. I talked to Zach who told me the trip fee of $60 is applied to the cost of repairs. Vincent showed up at my house and found the blower and motor needed to be replaced. He quoted me a price for the repairs and then said plus the $60 trip fee plus 30 minutes of service. I was quite surprised. I called Tiffany at Cother and told her what Zach had told me. She said Vincent was right and Zach was wrong... of course. But despite all that mess, I am happy because Mr. Cother waived the $60 trip charge and the 30 minute whatever charge - that was the only fair thing to do really. I'm pleased that this company has continued to be fair to me and my family. I will use Cother any time necessary. read more
