For some reason I cannot see the 6 previous reviews to this location on yelp, as I wanted to understand how on Earth other people gave it so many stars (perhaps some lower star ratings balanced with high star ratings)?
This is one of the worst places I have ate at. But let's start with the good:
1. Clean tables, floors and fair bathroom
Now the bad
1. The mussels in the lunch menu were unsafe to eat. The shells did not open. That is number one sign of unsafe old mussels. We told the kitchen, they made some new, that were... you guessed it, also unopened after cooking. Its a completely careless and unsafe kitchen. And when we pointed this out to them, the cook seemed not to care, and kept serving it as the lunch special (there were two options). REALLY?
So after that, I really don't have to go into how uninspired the dish was before we noticed all the closed shells. I mean, its very hard to mess up mussels in my opinion; simplest thing to cook and have lots of taste. Completely tasteless.
And I don't have to express my utter dismay that our glass of wine turned out to be 5.80 Euros each. I understand that when the lady asked us if we wanted wine (no menu of wines was offered), we said yes, something white to go with the dish, but to start us with such a price of wine without any indication to me is bad business (you can have a wine in Vienna for 3.80 or so). Plus, I could have left the wine behind, was not great at all, did not match the entrance soup, and the only reason i drank it finished was because I was scared I just poisoned myself with the mussels so was hoping the wine would help.
Now I would say the lady removed the cost of one of our plates. Honestly, should have been both. We still ended up walking out with a just under 20 Euro bill for lunch special (around 9 Euros), one plate removed, and one glass of wine each for two people. Obscene. But worse is that they knew there was an issue with the mussels, and arrogantly continued to serve them.
Conclusion: Looks nice, but uninspired = NON! read more
