This place is gorgeous. From start to finish I walked 1.75 miles. The trail is clean nothing you have to step over and no trash thrown all over the place. There are signs posted along the way about snakes and wildlife. Thankfully I didn't run across any. My pictures would have a blur from me running. There are pavilions to rent, a baseball field, and a water area they call the beach. Along the trail are restored houses, a red barn, a jail, barbershops, clothing store, and a feed store. (Not open) just on display from previous settlers. If you love outdoors and a little history this park is a must see it is also fur baby friendly. read more

The "beach" area is pathetic. Took my family and small kids. First thing I noticed right off the bat was broken glass in multiple areas of the beach. Do not walk barefoot in the sand unless you enjoy getting your feet sliced up and a bank breaking hospital bill. I had rubber flip flops on the whole time and told my family to wear theirs. Then, the whole beach area isn't open?? They cordoned off most of the water area, except for one sandbar and maybe 75 feet of water across from the entry sand area to the back area on the other side which narrowed to like 40 feet. The exposed sandbar which you were allowed to walk on had what looked like goose droppings all over it. There is very little space to play or wade without bumping into someone with it being cordoned off, and the section of water that is open just looks like a big bowl of muddy water because the cordoned off area is far away from the waterfall and streams that it doesn't get as much movement aside from people. Between the droppings all over the sandbar, broken glass, close proximity of multiple people in that tiny area, it's just asking for a visit to the hospital due to some infection. You do have to pay a fee per person and idk where that money goes, needs more maintenance. It's a shame, the beach area has potential. We will not be going back. read more

WTHeck?! I am all about the outdoors, history and photography. I visited this park and brought along my DSLR camera...huge mistake apparently! I was accosted by a guy on a golf cart, telling me that "Photography is not allowed in the park!" an he then explained how I would need to complete an application and pay a "photography fee" before I can take photos in the PUBLIC park!! He advised that the Sheriff's Office would be contacted if I remained on the property with my camera!! Riiiiight! I'll spend my time elsewhere... read more

Very cute park, the look was about 1 mile? Beautiful scenery and we even saw a deer on the path. There are these cute buildings everywhere made to look like old stores. Worth a stop! read more

This is a beautiful and inviting area However, to all of those that have elderly, or disabled or handicapped member's, this isn't the place to bring them, the park states handicap parking to the left of entrance, which allows about 50ft closer than other parking but we were told by park attendants that they couldn't park car there...all they had to do was let the car down to pavilion, let said persons out and then take car back up to hill, i understand the workers were doing as instructed, this is not against them but being a resident of Rockdale for 40+ years , i am appalled!!! We will not be going back to this park, because of no access for handicap or elderly, there is no way a wheel chair or person with breathing difficulties or with any medical problems make it down that trail,( Hill) with lil rocks all down the road, to slip on.. I would love to see the residents of Rockdale spread the word that public park should have access to all persons in the county, if NOT then please Make this a CLEAR Statement, they they discriminate against said participants, and not to attend!! read more

I love Costley Mill Park! It's very peaceful and the park is beautiful! My Husband and I have gone on walks and went to a few of the jazz concerts. I love the waterfalls! read more

Nice park. They have filmed movies and parts vampire diaries and legacies (cw show) . Beautiful park but closed Mondays? Went last week to dog walk with friend, but doing lots digging by pretty old mill!!! Off limits! Through middle of dec ? Rock dale county $$$$ potentially do building a banquet hall So Went visitor center ( yellow house can't miss it) They helped our 93 grandfather - gave him ride in golf cart since got tired on our walk! Absolutely beautiful park with great trails. The park is sometimes closed at unusual times, often due to filming. The employees are very strict about park rules... there is a limit on the number of people allowed on the playground. Our friends have five children and were told they were over the limit. No one else was there. I've been waking with my dog when the park was empty. I let her off leash to walk in the stream, she is very well trained, a man on a golf cart came around and sternly told me to put my dog on leash. It's a lovely park near my home but my experience aren't always pleasant there. read more

The newest addition to Rockdale County's Parks and Recreation. It is absolutely a beautiful space for hiking, weddings (there is a chapel and gazebo), picnics, softball, and other activities. read more

We were very impressed with the facility UNTIL, they forced everyone out of the water. It was not explained & scary. When we asked the lifeguard (after 30 minutes) " how long do we need to stay out of the water?" He couldn't tell us. We ended up leaving covered in sand, because we couldn't even rinse off. We found a Broken beer bottle, on the beach, which I thought that some staff member should have seen, earlier. There are tons of sticks & rocks, in the water so I would suggest wearing water shoes. The rest of the staff seemed to be working very hard to make sure that everyone had a good time. read more

First time at Costley Mill. Not sure what the theme is. Bunch of buildings with a front.There was was a couple of nice pavilions. There is a beach. We got there late and the life guard was going to take a 45 minute break. Did not know there was a beach fee at the general store that seemed to sale nothing but passes. So we passed. Closed tomorrow because it is Monday. This could be a great little place. Parking was very tight.I need to go back and give it a second try. Do any of these buildings have a use? read more

Beautiful park with a nice sandy beach area and a flowing creek. The creek rushes over large rocks. It's a nice and serene area by the water. Many Park Amenities including a Gazebo, a Large Pavilion with a Beach (Open Memorial Day - Labor Day), a Playground, a Ball Field, and other areas great for picnics. read more

You can't enter the homes their more for show. I believe there is a playground area and a old Mill on the other side of the park. I didn't make it to that side. Although this is a public park they do charge for Photography. I found out the hard way. They charge $50 per hour to do photos at this park. Not a total deal breaker but somewhat of a disappointment for a public space. Regardless I'll certainly visit again. read more

Living in Conyers you expect to get your tax payers dollars worth right? WRONG! Costley Mill Park is a waste! Every single weekend you go they are closed for private events. I went yesterday and today and the same thing CLOSED all day for private events. They have no updated calendar on their website and NO ONE picks up the phone. When I went to complain in the office (which was supposed to be opened but they were "closed") they told me I could come back Tuesday-Thursday ummmm any normal family works during the week and the kids go to school so how exactly does that work? They told me that their website is not "user friendly" so check out their Facebook page for any updates. I now understand why there are so many complaints about this place. Sad because we actually wanted to enjoy it especially with a toddler that we got fully dressed in swim attire, packed up the car and got excited for the beach so thank you for disappointing him not one but TWO days in a row. Get your stuff together because the community of Conyers will stop supporting you (not that we could anyway because you are always closed ) read more

I tried to visit this tax payer funded Rockdale County Park on Saturday June 22nd. I had been anxiously awaiting the opening of Costley Mill Park for several months. Unfortunately I was unable to visit or take advantage of the Rockdale county owned park, of which I am a tax payer, because it was closed to the public due to a private event. Is this a county owned community park, or a private venue? Very disappointed in Rockdale County!!! read more

This place is a summertime gem! I took my son to swim in the pond today, and it's awesome. A relatively clean sand beach, several attentive life guards, low-price entry fee, plenty of room to splash and play, picnic areas and playgrounds. I think we'll be here a lot. I hope the county keeps it open for swimming! read more
