Do not walk barefoot in the sand unless you enjoy getting your feet sliced up and a bank breaking hospital bill. I had rubber flip flops on the whole time and told my family to wear theirs. Then, the whole beach area isn't open?? They cordoned off most of the water area, except for one sandbar and maybe 75 feet of water across from the entry sand area to the back area on the other side which narrowed to like 40 feet. The exposed sandbar which you were allowed to walk on had what looked like goose droppings all over it. There is very little space to play or wade without bumping into someone with it being cordoned off, and the section of water that is open just looks like a big bowl of muddy water because the cordoned off area is far away from the waterfall and streams that it doesn't get as much movement aside from people. Between the droppings all over the sandbar, broken glass, close proximity of multiple people in that tiny area, it's just asking for a visit to the hospital due to some infection. You do have to pay a fee per person and idk where that money goes, needs more maintenance. It's a shame, the beach area has potential. We will not be going back.

In fact if you're driving Hahn woods is a good place to park as parking is not great anywhere around Lullwater. There is a deck that you can pay to park in at the Emory Clifton campus - that is the closest parking I believe.

The sites are well maintained and there are plenty of sites that accommodate our 43 foot camper. There are some premium sites that pull through. Just exercise caution with some of those because you could see where some campers dragged trying to get into those. The bath houses are very clean and modern. They also have 20 cabins you can rent. A fair number have been remodeled and those are really nice. We had a great time and are already planning our next trip.

The trail is only 0.5 miles total out and back. The trail is in need of major maintenance and repairs as it is easy to trip on the many cracks in the pavement and down trees. I also noticed a couple of watch out for snakes warning signs along the path. The playground looked well maintained but I didn't get too close to say for sure. The best part of this park I would say is the basketball court because of its large size. It is a full size court with bleachers and looks well maintained.

We had a very hard time getting our camper backed in due to the trees. We actually damaged the side of our travel trailer. I was searching for a nice local playground. When I saw the YMCA, I thought there had to be one…read moreclose by. When I saw the Dekalb Parks and Recreation sign, I knew I hit a jackpot. I wasn't searching for the latest playground tech, just enough to keep my toddlers entertained. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to this playground. It has fun things for all ages. I wish it would get a good pressure wash at least once/year. Nonetheless, it has swings, slides, rock climbing, monkey bars, giant swing, giant spinner, zip-lining, and tent areas for grilling and/or entertaining. Did I mention the YMCA has a water park? It's a special bonus. We'll be back for sure!

Lenora Park has plenty of beautiful green space to spread out blankets for relaxing or reading, paved walking trails, a fishing lake, community garden, softball fields, disc golf course, separate dog parks for large and small dogs, pavilion, grill, playground, restrooms and a 2 court gymnasium for basketball and pickleball. There's also a seasonal pool. I go here often just to enjoy nature and being outdoors weather permitting. I especially enjoy walking in Lenora Park during the Fall season as it's beautiful to see the many trees changing colors. Lenora park is also my go to location for early voting. Lenora Park is about to undergo some major improvements with revitalizing and expanding the gym into a community recreation center that will have a dance studio, art classroom, kitchen and will include an upper-level balcony with a two-way walking track. I'm excited and looking forward to seeing the progress while on my walks in the park.

Five minutes of getting there and into our walk, this dude comes chasing us down on his mower, scared the hell out of us, thought he was going to run us over, jumps off the mower and comes over and yells at me, "You didn't pick up your dogs poop!" Ok for one, my dog hadn't even had time to poop, we had just got there. And even if I hadn't I didn't appreciate the theatrics. I come there with my dog and disabled husband to walk in peace, it's good therapy for my husband who has dementia but this was uncalled for! If they want to really obsess over something, how about all the poop on the walkway and the used condoms I have to constantly step over!

Parking is available though can be limited on busy weekends, and you need the national park pass or you can pay daily $5 as a fee. We hiked down to the sope Creek Mill ruins, heads up there is no restrooms available at this location. So plan ahead :)
