The thing about being an adult is Costco comes in handy. They have great products, a great return policy, and a lot of the time, great deals on said products.
This location is rough though. In comparison to other locations, parking is horrible. There have been times where it's literally taken me half an hour to get out of the parking lot, as there's no exit close to the costco itself, it's on the other side of the plaza or behind the building, where there are other retailers. There's just no easy way out. Finding parking is a whole other issue. Being a practical person, I understand that this is costco and parking is typically an issue always. But I swear, in comparison to other Costco locations, this is by far the worst. I believe the issue is coupled with the difficulty to get out, which makes it difficult to get in with people blocking lanes.
And finally the most annoying experience of all. This location takes HUGE issue of you don't present your own costco card at checkout when you pay. I know that sounds dumb, but let me be specific. My husband and I share the membership, and we trade off who pays for the trip each week. Once,
Before he was on my card, I presented my card and he was about to pay and they wouldn't let him. This had never been an issue before, so I said, "No problem, I've never had an issue before, so if you let him pay now, we will walk over to membership and get him added right now." Reasonable right? No, they called over management, and between the cashier, bagger, and management, they basically told me I was stealing from them by having my husband use my card and not making him have one himself. It was humiliating. I wasn't making a scene, and I asked for what I thought was a reasonable compromise, and here I am, being belittled in front of a large crowd.
But hey, Costco is convenient, and convenience has outweighed one terrible experience, so I add the hubs to the card, and file the experience as a one off.
Until recently. I'm pretty sure it was the same cashier, but we were in the checkout line and while he was loading things up, I took my card out and placed it on top of our groceries, as I always do, to help speed up the transaction. I mean that's a thing right? To help them, you always have your card ready? Well of course this is a week where hubs is paying and I'm presenting a card with my photo on it. I hadn't even thought about it but the cashier was instantly like, "Sir this ain't your card, are you a member?" To which I (being the more civil of us two$ responded, "Yes, we actually share the same membership, I just pulled out my card because he was unloading our cart." She doesn't respond and keeps checking out our things, and just as he finished paying, she says, "If you want us to help you in the future, you better present your card." I mean...what. Was it really necessary to be that snarky? We go to this location also every week and most cashiers know us, and know we both share the same membership. I get it's not quite your policy, but there is no reason to treat us like we are trying to cheat you. I'm looking forward to the new Lynnwood location to open up and hopefully be a better experience than this location has been to us. read more
