Wide, huge selection. Duh. It's hard to review a sporting goods store and just say that they have sporting goods. But on this occasion I checked the internet first to make sure they had size 13-EEE or -EEEE wide shoes in stock, which they did, and to my surprise after the military discount it was just shy of $20 for a nice pair of Avia runners. That is hard to beat, and that reminds of the days when Payless shoes were everywhere and you didn't have to take out a payday loan just for running or athletic shoes. Very nice staff, and a shout out to August for helping me to decide and putting my shoes on for me, as I have a disability when it comes to bending. Nothing bad to say. I love the smell of new stuff. Besides, I haven't bought a new pair of shoes for over seven years so I figured it was time. And I didn't have to order off the Internet. read more

Big 5 Sporting Goods near the Shoreline - Edmonds and King - Snohomish border is useful in so far it exists. I've visited three times where it was for strategic shopping in particular. In, pay, go. Great spot to buy sports leaning merch like no nonsense, reasonably priced tennis shoes, gift card for that athletic nephew, and most recently some Skechers ($70) and received customer service to buy an Airsoft Beretta pistol ($30) on 7/22/24 around 7pm. Aside from Big 5, this shopping area also has a major transit station, a bank, medical clinic, other retail, food spots, and big box sites like Home Depot and Costco. Very convenient! read more

Their service is god-awful. They're unreliable piece of garbage unkind human's with no respect for others. I asked them if they had something in stock over the phone, they told me they did and would put them up front with my name on it to pick up. I told them I would be there within a specific time frame to pick up the product. When I got there they said "because they didn't have a call back number they didn't honor them being up at the front" I asked a few more questions and they ended up telling me they never even had the correct product to begin with. "They thought they had it" but when I actually came to purchase the item they realized they didn't have it. These people shouldn't even be employed if they can't make a basic distinction of what they do and don't have. I'm absolutely shocked by this level of service and Big5 will never receive my money again. I hope they go out of business soon. Utterly disappointing. It's a very small shop but it is still around. It's pretty organized in here and have very reasonable items on sale for both men and women as well as children. I have been in here a couple of times trying to find some type of floaties or bathing suites for my 2 year old daughter to wear at the pool and haven't really been that impressed with their selection. They have a very limited selection of items, and I mean very limited selection. I was just there today and only found two items and neither of them looked that great. Maybe I will have better luck at Target. Other than that, I do have to say they do have a decent selection of other out door items and their prices seem to pretty reasonable. I would probably go back for some of the sporting supplies they have since they were cheaper here than other places I have been to. Meh. Came in to buy some shoes for my mini. There were 3-4 other families there and not a single employee. In fact, I saw one employee at the front of the store, and that was it. After 10 minutes of waiting for someone to emerge, we finally went to the front of the store and asked for assistance. The whole exchange was pretty lackluster. Turned out that there were at least 3 employees in the building, but not one of them seemed at all interested in providing any level of customer service beyond what was absolutely necessary. Terrible customer service. I walked in to the store, 5 people in line and to the cash register. Behind cash register two sales peaope talking about onathe sales person. I came on the other side to a different cash register " thinking the can see me and help me do my retern". one of sales person turned around and greed me "what's up" I was shocked. He said "you have to go in line" and tern around and continue to talk to another sales person. Aftet 10 min talknig they leave. When was my time to move the cash register sales person has to call for manager. And guess who come in the gay who was staying do nothing for 25 minutes. This location is terrible LOL. Seriously though. I came in today and the cashier Sandy stopped me as soon as I popped in and asked me what I was looking for. I told her cold weather gear. And then I said base layers. She looked at me like I was stupid and said she didn't know what base layers are. ? You work in a sporting goods store but don't know? Maybe hire people who know the profession. Even cashiers should know because they are the first person you see. She pointed to the wall. The only gloves they sell are upwards of 25$. Same for hats and the layout is all over the place. I walked all over before I finally found someone. When she said men's or women's I said it doesn't matter so she said customer service to clothing. I got some cheap gloves and a base layer that someone else helped me find. It's terrible quality and was almost 20$ Barely keeps Me warm. I paid with a 100$ sorry its all I had cash wise and she grills me for something smaller and then precedes to check My bill several Times to ensure it's real. I did take it out of a Wells Fargo envelope. Lol. Before I leave she says if you had said thermals I would've understood what you meant. Sorry I didn't know I had to use a specific term. It's not my fault. She then asks the next customer if she's paying cash or card and shoots me a weird look. The lady said card why. And she says cause were low on bills. My boyfriend and I went to this Big 5 in search of work boots. The store was pretty small and I noticed immediately that their selection of merchandise in general wasn't great. We located the shoes, and spent some time browsing. We spent at least ten minutes in the shoe section, and no one came by to help us. Since they keep all the shoes (with the exception of one shoe, for display), in the back, this was frustrating. We couldn't just help ourselves and try things on. We were dependent on non-existent sales help. We finally found someone to help us, and the fella requested to try on a size 10 of the shoe he was interested in. The man nodded and disappeared into the back. It took way too long for the employee to return with the shoes. After several minutes he reappeared, and handed the box wordlessly to my boyfriend. He tried them on, but needed a slightly larger size. Unfortunately, the only employee we'd seen had now vanished, leaving us once again, shoeless. The poor service was so frustrating that we left - despite the fact that my guy wanted those shoes. We got in the car and drove to the Lynnwood Big 5 instead. read more

I went there after my Costco shopping. I was just going to pick up a couple GU's for my workout. The store is really not big. It's very crowded. There were a lot of selections of outdoor activity gears. But, there were only 3 flavors of GU :-( I went to the wrong time because their register/cashier was down. It took me almost 30 mins just to get a couple of GU's. However, the store assistant manager was really polite and trying to tell the customers the situation. read more

I've always found what I was looking for here, but the staff are incompetent, lazy, and indifferent. No one could help me decipher what the women's swimsuit sizes translated into. I asked to try some on in the fitting room and was told that someone would meet me there to let me in. I waited FIVE minutes and no one came. I went to the front counter again to check on the status and was told someone would be right there. LIES. I finally flagged down a nearby employee who was of no help. I finally crawled under the door and tried some suits on. I was livid, but unfortunately will have to come back here as it is the only sporting goods store that actually has a good selection of everything. read more

I've been to this Big 5 countless times and I've usually found success with what I'm looking for. They don't have a huge collection of swimwear or athletic clothing, so you may need to find a larger chain store if you are looking for something particular. But this is a great place for actual sporting goods like bats, gloves, balls, skateboards, various hunting and skiing gear, plus tons more. And don't forget shoes - they have everything from plain sneakers to cleats to running shoes. They even sell slippers. Employees are friendly - last time I was in with my family, we had a really good experience with someone in the shoe department. Overall, I like Big 5 and this is a good location. read more

Yea, this place is awful! My guess is they have a high turnover in employees & just hire people who don't give a s**t. The 1 star is for the guy who rang me up & another for the guy in shoes, who doesn't know anything about shoes, but was nice. He did try at least. The cashier girl at the front openly talked negative about a customer to her co-worker in front of me. I told her on my way out that a yelper had just posted a bad review about employees here. The clerk did ask "can I help you find something?" I declined as I was just looking but likely would buy supplies if I saw something(s) interesting. But my retail experience was ruined by the clerk with a large box of various products he was handling and stocking the shelves with. The problem was that he had the box right up on the counter where I was trying to see products. banging and rustling his important work so that I couldn't see anything, also the labels on the pellet guns had only 50% of them visible from the counter. Absolutely worse customer service ever. We were in there on Friday the 18th of December to buy pocket knifes for Christmas presents. There were three people needing help and two women behind the counter. One was helping a couple buy a gun, the other was helping a lady with a knife. She took the ladies knife to the counter saying she would be back in a minute to help us, keep in mind we had been waiting for help for 20 minutes. You guessed it she never came back to help us. Another twenty minutes and having to go ask for help from the register area twice someone else came to help us. This is not the first time for service like this, this is consistantly the service we receive. Get your act together people. read more

Rude and dishonest employee and manager. Yesterday, at 3:00, I was returning a backpack I had bought the day before, the cashier asked me for my ID. I showed it to him and started entering information on the computer as my "ID Number." I said I couldn't understand why he'd need my driver's license data and began to refuse. He said it was the return policy and that he was just typing in my name. My teenage daughter, who has who was able to see the screen said, "But you're typing in her numbers." The manager who was overseeing the return, gruffly said, "Fine, we'll just put an X there." One of the two men then said, "High maintenance." I'll never shop there again but it was a great lesson for my daughter. read more

This was a hard review. The prices are fantastic if it's on sale, if not don't bother. The selection is just ok. The service is the the main problem, it's never consistent always really hit or miss. When I saw their rollerskates being advertised as "perfect for rollerderby" I bought them- showed up to practice and got laughed at. I gave them a chance anyways- but ended up donating them and the different rollerskates I'd purchased from them prevously as well. They were made of the cheapest quality imaginable. Like childrens plastic skates for adults. I also bought a mouth guard- a plastic one for 15 dollars that I had to cut to size with a knife and then finally trash after two uses and it left my mouth sore for a week. Even the handwraps I got for boxing were complete crap. How does a company screw up handwraps? The knee pads I got broke with the first use. Their items are also overpriced. My 9 year old son and I visited the Aurora Village (Shoreline WA) location earlier this week. We were shopping for baseketball shoes. We went to the shoe section and found the style he liked. I then went to find a staff member to measure his feet.I guess I should add that when I found him he was leaning over counter chatting with a young lady that was working as cashier. The young man measured my son's foot and said he wore a size 9. I thought this odd as his last pair was a 3 1/2. When I questioned him he said he doesn't work in shoe department often. As this young man went to find the shoes in the back room, he stopped and said "actually, it is about time for my 10 minute break. Okay if I get someone else to help you?" I was shocked and said "yeah, I guess." The young man comes back a few minutes later and says the "dude" that will be coming to help you is helping someone in gun department but would be over in a while. I replied "seriously...oh well, I guess I will have to wait." So we wait for about 10 minutes and I see the entire staff (4) congregating around the counter area. As we are leaving one of them mumbles - "thanks, have a good night." I couldn't let it go - I tell them that the young man needs to develop a work ethic. The young man asks one of the others "didn't you go to help them?" The guy replies "no - I didn't." No apologies, no offer to make things right. Unbelievable. I tell them I have been in many times before but I guess I should go to Sports Authority. Again - no offer to make it right. Shrugs, mumbled apologies and then back to their conversations. The staff seemed to think it was humorous.Too many options besides Big 5. Sign me - A Former Big 5 Customer. I like to shop at local stores, so I went to Big 5 on Saturday to buy my grandson some cleats. The young lady at the register greeted me warmly, told her what I wanted and she paged someone to help me. Mind you I walk with two canes, I was pleased. Went to the shoe dept and the clerk was helping two others, I waited my turn. Then this guy who just walks into the store, gets helped by the clerk. I stated, I was next and here before him, I was told he would call someone for me, since he was helping that man now. Well I told them at the register I was leaving the store and going elsewhere. I went to the sport authority on 196th in Lynnwood and made my purchase. I dont mind waiting my turn even though I am in pain, two customers ahead of me, I wait patiently. But to have some one cut ahead and I speak up and am told to wait again. Lousy service no service. If you are impaired by any disability dont go there you are invisible. They dont want your business by the way they treat you. read more
