I too am in the "Too crowded, mis-managed staff" boat. I am perfectly okay with realizing that Saturdays are busy, and accommodating my own schedule to shop on other days; even at other times of day. But EVERY day and every TIME of day is so crowded - WHY AREN'T THEY BUILDING ANOTHER ONE IN THE AREA???? And why can't they streamline their checkout process? I can understand when it has so much business that a long wait could be due simply to volume, but I have been 3rd or 4th in line MANY times, and waited and waited 15 minutes or more. This is not a volume problem. I am also going to say: Why don't all Costcos do self check lines?!? Illinois Costcos have self check lines, and it is SO NICE when you come for 2 or 3 things!! Generally I love shopping in Costco because of their great bargains and top of the line products. That fact, I won't take away from them. But all that was lost with poor customer service on Friday when I took my daughter over to purchase some flowers she wanted to buy from there after work. We had gone up to the check stand and when I ran my card, it didn't go through. So, I tried to run it again and still it failed. Then the same thing happened on the 3rd try. So, I switched to another card. But keep in mind though, that I work for a credit union and I know without a doubt what I have in my account at all times. Well, needless to say, after the first card failed I select a second one. Then I entered the correct pin number in. And it declined it as well, which surprised me immensely. What I wasn't aware of on the first card though, was that recently I had gone into the branch and got a new card issued but the teller forgot to activate it. No problem right. That happens sometimes. Yet, on my second card the machine still kicked it out on the first try. But before I could attempt to run it again and enter the same pin number I used the first time. A supervisor showed up at the check stand, who seemed to have a very nasty attitude. And acted like she was going to throw me and my daughter out of the line. She said you've already run that card 3 times which is the max number allowed at Costco. As if I were some kind of derelict person trying to pull a fast one on them. I had to tell the woman that she was incorrect. That, I had only run it once. And surprisingly enough when I put the pin number in again (after we argued for a few seconds first), their machine took it and the transaction was completed. Using of course the same exact pin number I first entered into their system. Now I can't explain the fluke on the second card. But what bothered me the most about this whole transaction, was that the lady wanted to get nasty about it right in front of other patrons and my daughter, who made a comment about it after we left. Proving to me that somehow this Costco employee has forgot what customer service is all about. For you never know the what's really going on behind the scene. And to make a rash judgment like that. Is really unacceptable in my book. And I should know. Because, even if we get a member in the credit union who's being unruly. We are still required to maintain a certain level of professionalism at all times. Maybe Costco ought to go back to the drawing board on their employee training. And next time I'm in there, you can be sure, that I'm going to bring this situation to the attention of their management. read more

My review was filtered and removed yesterday. So I am posting again now. I assure you that this is a legitimate review containing true events that I experienced at the particular Costco store. We have been Costco members for over 10 years and we were always impressed with their selection of merchandise and customer services, until recently. There were two other incidents that proved the quality of their customer services have been declining rapidly, but I am just going to describe what happened today. This afternoon around 4 p.m., my husband and I went to this particular store to pick up the usual items. We go there every week, and just pick up some fresh salad and fruits, and we almost never buy more than 10 item at any one time. Anyway, we had our usual items today and were waiting at the check out line. About 1 minute before it was our turn, my husband went to the food court to buy some soft drink. He left his membership card on the counter and I was there to pay. The cashier, Natalie D., according to my sales receipt, rang me up with no greeting or smile, and when I was paying with my debit card, she had the following conversation with me: Natalie: You know that you cannot use your "buddy's" membership card to buy here, right? Me: What?! Oh, he is my husband. Natalie: But do you have your own card? Me: [Shocked by her stupidity from the beginning] Yes.... Natalie: Oh, here he is [as she saw my husband walking back]. Then she just finished with the transaction and without any apology. I was pretty shocked at how unprofessional she was. First, my husband left his card on the counter less than two minutes before she rang me up, how unattentive she must be not seeing him in front of her? Second, if she believed me that it was my husband, how unlikely that would be that my husband did not add my name to the membership? Third, the overall experience just gave me the feeling that Costco is doing ME a favorite when they "allowed" me to buy there. Well, they might believe that for whatever reason, but the fact is that every customer is doing THEM a favorite by shopping there. She is just so wrong to think that without the customers she would not have a job there! It is especially bad for this particular store, because I think most of the customers here will expect above average customer services. It was probably my bad to expect Costco to provide customer services that are comparable to those provided by Nordstrom, but I at least have the right to be treated right. I found it unacceptable to have such poor customer services as provided by Natalie today. I thought about complaining to Costco. But after looking at all the customer complaints online, I don't think they will care, and I have decided to cancel my membership, along with our cars and home owner insurance with them. i get 91 gas here a lot and its always about the same price as 85 gas everywhere else. parking sucks here-its always packed, especially on weekends. going inside is a nightmare, but i cant complain about their $1.50 hotdogs and $2 pizzas. buying everything in bulk makes this place cheaper. 2 gallons of milk cost $4 which is what 1 gallon cost at a lot of other grocery stores. read more

It's so hard but I finally found something I don't like about Costco & it's only at the sandy location. Why am I not aloud to go straight to the food court without showing my card. If this was the rule at most of the Costco I could probably just be ok with it but it's only this one. Because I'm not use to this and was caught off guard on my way in to eat the rest of my trip was not the fun Costco experience so I didn't buy anything but food. To start I love Costco but this location has made me want to cancel my membership entirely! I have been shopping at Costco for years and have visited locations all over the country however this is absolutely the worst Costco I have ever been to! I was yelled at twice and then treated rudely through the checkstand. I was driving my aged parents due to their physical limitations and my Mother went in to do shopping but then I needed to order us a pizza. As I went in the person at the door yelled at me. I tried to explain but she didn't care. So then I had no other choice but to go into the store to find my Mother and that door person yelled at me too. At this point I was so insulted I kept walking. I found her twenty yards in and that was the only reason they stopped harassing me. Then the checkout person was rude. I frequently visit other Costco's but was never carded for coming in to order a pizza. After this we won't be renewing nor supporting them. They were completely unapologetic and submitting an online email to them gets you no where. read more

Don't get me wrong..... I love everything there is to love at Costco BUT their tire department. The tires are great but their customer service stinks it up big time. My last tire purchase has been the worst experience I've ever had. It did make me realize that I made the mistake of leaving Discount Tires who have excellent customer service!!! Even though I didn't purchase my last set of tires at Discount, they were more than happy to do my rotation in less than 15 minutes. Cosco always tells me an hour and a half wait and are rude when telling me. Sorry Costco, your tire department is missing the boat. read more

Like most people I know, I have been a "lifelong member" of Costco, having gone there with my parents since I was a child and having bought my own membership for some years now. However, I am questioning the etiquette that Costco employees demonstrate for their consumers. I was verbally berated at the gas pump this evening by a Costco employee who was pissed that I was pumping my gas when the membership gas pumps closed. He questioned whether I knew how to pump my own gas and to not top off. As a thirty year old female who has been driving since the year 2000, I found this rather offensive. Then I was told "not to spill" like I am still incapable of knowing how to properly fill a gas tank. This may not represent the views of Costco employees as a whole, but it is surely cause for concern. I feel like the Costco organization needs to place more focus on demonstrating professionalism and proper customer service, as this type of behavior is offensive and degrading, not only as a female but as a member of the driving community. This is my favorite Costco. It takes some planning ahead for me to buy in bulk as a single person on a budget. I love getting the chicken breast which is already individually packaged and ready to stick in my freezer. It's also great for deals on everyday items such as toilet paper, laundry detergent, dish soap. If you haven't tried their hot pizza you should! You can get a slice or a box to take home for a group. The only downside to this Costco is that Utah law won't allow them to sell liquor. read more

Only three handicap carts per store. Usually at least one of those is hung up at the food court. I have had to wait up to an hour to go shop. I have started going to Sam's Club as I can usually get a cart there. I am of the opinion that Costco cares very little for their handicap customers. read more

I would rather drive to a Costco further away than patron this place again. This is not just one bad experience. Multiple times I have been frustrated with this Costco. Limited selection, poor customer service, it takes at least 10 minutes to get out the door where you get your receipt signed. Seriously guys?! To top it off we went to go get a simple tire service included with tire purchases at Costco and they wanted to charge us for it! I've been a Costco member for years and this year we're cancelling our membership. We've wasted thousands of dollars here, on food, appliances, and their laughable 'ink' that voids the warranty on their crappy printers. The produce tends to be rotten. We've also found several packages of meat that are punctured and also rotten, many times after we've already gotten home. We had a bag of chicken that started dripping profusely WHILE we were checking out and getting the receipt, and the checkout guy just shrugged at us and handed us our cart and started helping the next folks. We are also on our third Costco vacuum within one year. The prices aren't low at all; they're just selling items at regular or coupon price in bulk and charging you sixty bucks a year to do it. And the appliances and miscellaneous items are wal-mart sweatshop quality at best. Now that I've stopped going to Costco, we are saving tons of money on groceries and we are building our food storage at the same pace as we were before. If you can scan a Smith's coupon book each week and stock up on their deals, I guarantee you can save yourself far more shopping time, refund time, and money and than you ever will at this crappy bulk store. The ONLY reason I am giving Costco two stars is because we love the memory foam serafina mattress we bought on Costco's website. Besides that, Costco has left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

TERRIBLE!!! If I could rate 0 stars I would. Not for Costco it's self, just the phone kiosk they have there. The guys name was Gregory and his boss Evan. Kiosk 487. First off Gregory acts like he hates his job & dosent even want to be there. I mean he is getting paid he should atleast act happy or like he wants to help???? Never have I had worse customer service in my life. Second off I stood there for about an hour going over a phone to get, I finally decided to get it, signed the contract logged into my phone provider account EVEN WENT TO PAY FOR IT!!!! Come back signed some more contracts just as I was ready to go they told me that they would walk me back over to the return area of Costco because apparently they didn't check there inventory before selling me the phone?!? You have one job Greg do it right. So needless to say I drove 45min stood at the kiosk for an hour even purchased the phone just to have Greg & his boss tell me they will walk me over to the return area??? For one they were not nice about it making me feel dumb as if it was my fault they didn't check there inventory? So thank you very much Greg and Evan for wasting my time & money!! Costco you guys should hire some employees that actually know how to do the job right so customers like me don't have to drive wait and pay for an experience like this. read more
