They told me to go in the office to set up an appointment, and the older lady in the office said not 1 word to make me . It was extremely awkward. To be transparent, I love Costco. It is my happy place. I basically do all my shopping at the North Phoenix location and have been a loyal customer for over 30 years. That said, for all the joy Costco has provided me over the years, one small event gave me pause. I was shopping late this Sunday, and while I was checking out, I mentioned to the young women who was organizing the cart, that I had a few bottles of wine underneath some clothes in the small basket. She replied in the most disrespectful manner, "I can see, I'm not blind". I thought it may have been a joke but she was dead serious. Wow, is all I can say. Costco prices are the first to hike up every time I go there it's getting too costly to buy many of my favorite products, seriously $16.00 for grated cheese and in my family it gone in few meals! Secondly, Costco was the first to close down the food court and tables, they removed the my favorite frozen yogurt from the menu and they were the last to put back the tables in the food court. Sam's Club was the first to quickly set up the food court tables, and thank goodness they kept serving their quality frozen yogurt, $.99 cents for plain! I belong to both big box stores. Costco stopped serving real frozen yogurt that is healthier for folks back in 2020, instead they now serve up Costco brand ice cream made up of too many chemicals, fat and calories not good for anyones health, interestingly, it's served exactly like frozen yogurt twirled in a cup, but it is not frozen yogurt! (see photos) I somewhat forgive them for most of their faults but need to drop them a star for MESSING WITH MY CHICKEN. I liked the packaged chicken they used to sell but they replaced that better chicken with Foster Farms Chicken. I don't think Foster Farms is bad chicken but it's just OK chicken that I could buy at Fry's. (If I wanted to.) The breast and thighs are much smaller and lighter color meat with less flavor than the other chicken they used to sell for the same price. Meh. I really do love Costco in general, but this location in particular is always busy. It varies from annoying to just a total zoo. My most recent visit was of the zoo variety, and I'm simply going to avoid this location any time I can. On top of being busy, Costco then chooses to have those food sample people standing around not only taking space, but stopping people who then hang around eating. Ugh, it made the busy environment totally impassable in places. The experience was so terrible that I ended up leaving with less than half of what I intended to buy. read more

Costco doesn't even deserve one star. The item still hasn't been delivered even though I called Costco about this about two weeks ago. The real problem is UPS and a program titled My Choice that Costco started listing on their website offering some delivery management in case the customer might not be available on a scheduled delivery date. I signed up for the program close to two years ago and it has been a disaster. The first delivery was scheduled for a Saturday when I was going to be out of town for the weekend. In spite of my instructions to have the product delivered to a local UPS store UPS delivered the packages to my home and they sat out on my front porch until I returned home on the following Monday. Fortunately they were intact and nothing was missing. Ever since then I have been trying to cancel these instructions and withdraw from this program but UPS does not seem to get it. Neither does Costco and Costco is a total failure with help to resolve this program. Between Price Club and Costco I go back forty+ years as a customer. That doesn't matter. Costco is great if you buy in the store. But if you order something online you just never know. Solution - Amazon Prime. They listen, they talk with you and they resolve the problem. If they can't, you get your money back immediately! To me that is customer service. I made an error on this item buying it from Costco. I was eager to get a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. I guess that I will have to go buy this item elsewhere to have it in time for Christmas and then wait for however long it takes for UPS and Costco to work this out by returning the undelivered item to Costco at which time Costco will finally refund the purchase price. Costco does okay for online orders of some large items, like appliances, but if you want good delivery service and excellent installation of appliances call Best Buy. Best Buy prices may not be as good and Best Buy does not match prices as they lead you to believe, but at least you get good delivery service and installation. read more

What happened to this place? I used to enjoy shopping here, and I used to feel like my business was valued, but anymore they just make me feel like a chump who was rooked into another year of the membership fee and is apparently just an inconvenience to the people working there. The most egregious examples of this are when I'm interacting with the cashiers. You know, trying to give these people money? What a concept. On one recent visit, I got hassled about my membership card being faded and difficult to read. The cashier made it a point to read me the Riot Act™ and berate me about how difficult it was making her job and how it was so simple to get another card so why don't I do that before the next time, the whole nine yards. All this because, brace yourself, she had to try a whopping *two* times to get it to scan. Because of that, she felt the obligation to lecture me in front of my wife and other customers about how I "need" to get a new card. Fast forward to the next few visits, where I used the same card, and nobody hassled me about it at all. The whole experience just made me shake my head and wonder why someone would go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome and try to shame you about your membership card. I'm sorry if it's faded out, but it's not my fault you make them with crap quality and are too cheap to send me a new one every few years. Another example is the recent social distancing changes they have made in the stores. I understand the concept, but the cashiers just use it as a springboard to treat people like crap. On my most recent visit, I put my items on the conveyor and put my membership card on top of them, like I always do, then proceeded to my side of the plexiglass barrier and waited for the cashier. Did she greet me? Ask me about my shopping experience? Nope. Instead, she launches immediately into a tirade, chastising me for putting my membership card with my items. Apparently she wanted me to hold it up to the plexiglass so she could scan it that way and not have to touch it. I can't understand half of her lecturing on account of the mask she's wearing (and the fact that she's mumbling) but she was extremely animated, which was just ridiculous. Of course, being the hypocrite that she was, she had absolutely no problem touching all the items I had been carrying and breathing all over for the last half hour in the store. I guess because I respond to her unwarranted and nonsensical ranting with a passive aggressive "O...K..." instead of apologizing to her, she didn't feel obligated to thank me for shopping there either. She just kept giving me the stink eye as I took my receipt and walked off. Pro-Tip™: If you're expecting people to do something new and different at your checkout, put up a fucking sign or some instructions, and tell your cashier not to be such a rude bitch to those of us who left their crystal ball at home. I can say with confidence that there is nothing at this store worth putting up with such piss poor service from their cashiers. I have no idea why they're so bitter and unhappy that they feel the need to treat their customers like crap, but I am done paying a membership fee just to get a ration of shit from some over-paid, arrogant asshat every other time I shop there. read more

Stopped at Costco today to pick up some things. The store formed a line outside the door on the West side of the building, almost to the end. Some customers in, some customers out, a fine job and a well organized system. Don't let it fool you, to my surprise the line moved quickly. They had everything very organized inside for check out. Many, many Kudos to all the staff, very friendly considering all the crap they have to deal with. For instance, A$$munch customers complaining because staff doesn't know exactly what's on the shelves. Now mind you, these are outside employees using radios to communicate with inside employees and the customer wants to know if they have eggs, or bread, otherwise she won't stand in line. Apparently there will be one dozen eggs after 90+ or so people make it inside before her. Epic, just epic. Thank them all for working during this horrible time and be kind to one another. We are Americans, not barbarians they live elsewhere. And if you're not happy in the USA, go anywhere else but don't stay here. Other Costcos: as pictured on the menu (see photo) THIS Costco: a tiny turdlette of "acai" and toppings on top to fill about halfway up the plastic bowl (if you are lucky) - see other photos. When I said something to the cashier, that I had gotten acai bowls at other Valley Costcos that were completely full she told me "well maybe you should go back there" and "we only fill them with 6 oz here...that's the way it's supposed to be." I insisted that this was not the norm, or as advertised and she angrily told the poor boy making these to "just give her more". I had to go back to exchange them, and they wanted me to go back through the lines for 2 items - the lines were EACH 50 PEOPLE LONG, and that includes self checkout. You don't even have to ask whether all the manned cashier lanes were open - you know they weren't! This place is a disaster! Their prices are going up and up while the size/ volume of the items are going down, down, down. They don't have good deals any longer and their employees are the rudest people on the planet. Costco is great for alcohol, meat and produce! Of course non-perishable bulk items are a nice savings, especially for a big family. The food court is terrific and very inexpensive for what you get! Pizzas are really a great deal for parties and such. There are always some things that must be overcome such as the crowd, crazy drivers in the parking lot, and sometimes just madness of the rush.
