I'm no optometrist, but every single eye exam I've ever had or taken children to has always included the part of the exam where they check on how you focus up close for reading. We were told there that unless a child is complaining of reading issues, "it's almost impossible for children to have myopia and that only occurs as you get older, and then you need it checked, so we don't usually check ." I don't know, I've never heard of this. But ii m ow it's much rarer for kids to have macular degeneration or glaucoma and they still check for those things. My child needs vision correction, but they weren't concerned enough to check for reading distance focusing. I took him back in and asked them to do that part of the regular exam as well, since my insurance covers a complete yearly eye exam and there isn't a point in not checking such a major eye function. We'll see how the prescription they made actually works when we get the glasses in, but the experience has made me wary. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I absolutely would. My regular eye doctor was booked out several months, so I made an appointment here. I felt rushed with the provider during my initial exam, and I have had to be re-evaluated three times because the prescription has been wrong every single time. On top of this massive inconvenience, the supplier for the trial lenses has taken a month or longer to deliver the lenses, meaning I haven't had lenses that work since before August. Every time I call and try to check on the status of my trials, I am met with snarky voicemails and rude individuals. I wouldn't recommend anyone go here for exams. read more

My friend broke his glasses and we came here for an eye exam to get a new prescription. They were the most affordable we could fine. Even with Covid the appointments were right on schedule. They were quick and through. I liked that while your eyes dilated you were able to shop for glasses. They even had a deal on two pairs. Even without insurance they were extremely affordable. The glasses came in less than 10 days. The office was extremely clean. The opthamologist was professional and accurate. The staff were helpful and kept everything running smoothly. read more

UPDATE: If you buy VSP vision care insurance you will be set up with automatic renewal and you will have to wait till 30 days prior to the expiration date to contact VSP that you DO NOT want to renew the policy. We've bought a lot of glasses here. But the last time around we discovered that the edge polish (an extra $10) is not what it used to be. For those of us with thick lenses, edge polishing used to provide a clear finish on the edges of the lenses with the sharp corners rounded out so they are not so likely to cut you if someone (like a small child) or something bumps your classes into your face. On my last pair however, the "polish" left a cloudy finish and sharp corners. I asked for my $10 back but was told that the only way to do that was to send the glasses back and have the lenses remade without the "polish" feature. If you are looking for knowledgeable staff who check your benefits and eligibility prior to your appointment, this is not the place for you. Before booking my appointment time, I called to see if this office was in network with my insurance. They said yes, I had one of the two insurances they are in network with. I proceeded to give the lady on the phone my ID number and she told me not to worry about it, she could get what information she needed from my insurance and for me to just come into my appointment. Yay right? Wrong! I received a phone call stating they needed my ID number 30 mins before the appointment (even though they already said they didn't need it- and why are you just now checking?) And gave her my ID number and it was not going through on her end so I told her that she may have to call and speak with a representative if it wasn't working... and she hung up on me! At the end of my appointment I was told that "the policy I had was not in network" and then had to pay nearly it all out of pocket after I was told my insurance was in-network... period. Thank you for blindly giving me a bill at the end of my appointment and not doing the most important part of your job before seeing patients [checking insurance], I won't be coming back. read more

I felt rushed through the entire process. By far the quickest eye test i've ever done and of course the prescription was nothing close to my previous prescription a year before. My eyes have been pretty steady the past couple years and the prescription she wrote me had my left eye go from a -7 to a -6? Eyes don't change that drastically in a year. I felt unheard and ignored the whole time and left $130 poorer with a bogus prescription. When I brought up my previous prescription they said they would send me a trial of my new and previous prescription as well. So I basically paid $130 for them to just use my old prescription? I went here and they gave me daily contacts to try although I had never wore contacts before. I got one stuck in my eye and it was a huge problem. The optometrist DID NOT explain the contacts to me, the receptionist did and she was not great or patient explaining to someone who had never wore contacts. Then, I went back 5 months later and asked to get a harder contact and the same angry receptionist informed me it would be $40 to change the script to a monthly contact. Horrible customer service, they do not care at all. I think the people selling the glasses are very nice but I would NOT go back to the optometrist at Costco. Bad idea. read more

If you're looking for a quick in and out experience in order to get your contacts and glasses prescription updated then Costco Optical might be for you. If you're looking for a relaxing and hand held experience with a lot of attention and conversation then I would pick a different optometrist. The woman I talked to on the phone to book the appointment was helpful and friendly while taking my info. You don't need a Costco card in order to see the eye doctor but you do need a card to purchase glasses/contacts through Costco. When I arrived I waked into a tiny room and was greeted by the women working. I filled out a one page form and after a 10 minute wait I went into the optometrist's office. He was nice but wasn't looking to make much conversation which I didn't really mind. He did the eye exam, had me put in some new updated prescription contacts and sent me on my way. I'm glad I've done this yearly since I was a teenager so I didn't have any questions and wanted to be done just as fast as he did but for someone who is new to getting their eyes checked or has lots of questions I'm not sure how the interaction here would go. The exam was $103 for my glasses/contact prescription since my insurance didn't cover it which is reasonable. The parking lot here is crazy so give yourself time to find a spot. read more

I really like the optometrist here. He's friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The service was quick. Also, the woman working the front desk is really nice and pleasant. They take my insurance (PacificSource). They are really affordable and don't price gouge you. I think it was around $80 for the exam, tests and dilation. I've paid upwards of $200 for comparable service elsewhere. Contacts were also the cheapest I've ever seen. I couldn't even get them cheaper online. read more

Picked up my new glasses over a week ago and couldn't wear them for more then an hour because of non stop slipping and hurting my nose. The close up part of the bifocal also seemed to be wrong and a little out of focus. Today I went back in to have the glasses checked and the lady that helped me seems put out because I was complaining about my glasses. I told her that the close up part of the bifocal didn't seem to be correct And that I would like her to check to see if they were. She took the glasses over to a machine that wouldn't come on so she banged it on the table until it did. She didn't have my prescription card so I gave it to her and she took the glasses over to a male employee and he held the glasses up to the light on the ceiling and told her they were fine. I have gone here many times and it's been fine. I really like the optometrist. I just called to schedule an appointment because I've been having vision troubles. The receptionist said she wouldn't schedule me because I came here four months ago for a check in. I can't see in my old prescription and it's only been four months which means I clearly need to talk to a doctor because that is irregular. The receptionist is extremely rude and disrespectful. I went in to explore my options for new progressive lenses. Austin was very courteous and helpful. Found out that I was not able to use my former frames. Austin was incredibly patient with me. When my prescription was missing a measurement, he was able to direct me how to get that information to them and then proceed with ordering my glasses. 5 stars for Austin!
