Ah a new Costco (at least for us). This one is a welcome edition to the Newark area as the one near AutoMall is perpetually packed. It also is one of the bigger ones as well so it is really well stocked. It follows the typical U shaped setup with electronics and sale items leading to homeware, the food, and medicine etc. The center is mostly seasonal items and the like. It was packed but we were there on a weekend. As I stated in my review of the the Mountain View location, we do have some rules to help keep our obsession under control: 1) NEVER EVER go in hungry. That 25 gallons of dill pickle chips is much easier to resist on a full stomach.... true story there. 2) Avoid the free samples. People seem to lose their minds with this stuff. They abandon carts with crying babies, block isles, etc all to get that tiny portion of hummus. I have been shoved aside by someone desperate to get a free piece of cheese. Honestly I have seen more dignity from actual starving people in a disaster zone but I digress. 3) Avoid the weekends like the plague. 4) See #1 5) Go often. Costco uses alot of psychology and the fear of missing out is one of them. Odd items you must have pop up then go never to return. I CAN'T MISS OUT AGGGGGGG 6) Know your codes: At costco any price ending in 0.97 means it has been marked down. Any price that is not a 0.99 or .97 such as say 0.49 means it has a manufacturers discount. and price with an * aka "The Death Star" on it means its done and will not be reordered so stock up. If it ends in a .00 or a 0.88 a manager has reduced the price at that location to clear it out. 7) When in an unfamiliar city head to the Costco. They always stock local items you can't find at yours (like two pounds of single origin Kona coffee for 30.00 at the Kilaua / Kona store etc.) and have cheap gas. (Same on Kauai) read more

Solid Costco, friendly staff, all the samples you can shake a stick at and some great savings can be had if you shop smart. We like to buy big packs of meat and vacuum seal them freeze them. We also bought some yard games last time around. Definitely worth the yearly membership price. read more

Love/hate relationship with this Costco. Love it because (and I don't want to jinx it) but the gas line is never as busy as other Costco like the Fremont or coleman location. Lots of pumps with 4 on each side. This is near the mall so entering/exiting the vicinity can be quite busy. My review is for their customer service. I tried looking for the tru fru white chocolate covered freeze dried strawberries. It's so difficult finding people on the floor so I had to ask someone all the way in the front by the cashiers. The first time I asked someone they looked it up for me and they said they had 200 in stock. I asked where it was on the floor and they told me in the middle section and I told them I walked around 3x and couldn't find it. I asked if they could come with me to show me but they kept saying "it should be there." So I went back but couldn't locate it. Went back to the front and the original person I asked wasn't there anymore (by the merchandise pickup section) so I asked a different employee who said it was probably on the left side (near the candy/bread aisle). I told them I checked already and could they come with me to show me. Again, they kept saying no to physically coming with me. I don't understand why. It doesn't take that long. Anyways I checked where they suggested and again, couldn't locate it. Went back to get help and found a new team member. Are you noticing the pattern here with the lack of assistance? This next lady said it was in the frozen aisle and I told her no it wouldn't be because last time I purchased it was in the normal aisle. And the first person who checked inventory for me said it was labeled as "candy." Even though tru fru does make frozen fruit it wasn't the one I was looking for. But again, I walked all the way over to the frozen section and lo and behold, it wasn't there. I walk again to the front and a new team member helps me out. Again, having to explain the whole situation to a new person each time. But this guy (I believe his name is Christian) looks it up and says there hasn't been any sold today which means it's on a palette. But then he radios someone who claims they saw it's in the middle. Again I ask if they can come with me to show me because maybe I'm just missing it. They both insist it's there so I check again and I can't find it. I think they're confusing it with another yogurt product that's on the floor but it's clearly two different brands. Finally I catch someone on the floor who comes with me to look and like I always knew, it was not on the floor. Then a lady comes (why does it take a woman for something to actually be done? Men are so incapable) and helps me find it and checks the palette and guess what? It's all the way at the top! She finally radios a few people and 5mins later, I get my tru frus. Why does it take almost half an hour to locate and get the item? So much miscommunication and playing messenger in the middle for something that could've easily been solved if someone came with me to physically locate the item. Not sure if they were lazy, honestly probably were. But it would've saved me so much time and back and forth. They need to educate their employees on products, how to check the inventory system, and where it is. More training needs to be done. Thankful I got my products but man, it took a whole village! Never again. I'm going to stand firm of having them come with me next time because even though I kept asking each time it felt like they were just ignoring my request. I don't see why they don't come with people to help locate the item? Items are constantly being moved and even though most items are in the same place, there's a few that are completely not where it was last time. It's like a maze at Costco! Anyways, I hope they read this review and do more up to date training. read more

Being , costco our all time favourite store disappointed us . We bought the Butter pound cake , assuming that it would be made in butter but when I read the ingredients it had palm oil and canola oil too . New Year, New Costco in review for 2024. I figured I'd make the weekday morning trip after a workout in Milpitas. I'm a new member to the 'Book's All Things Costco Bay Area group and couldn't get away from all the cookie posts--so what better way to experience the new location than indulging in a super sweet choco-sundae with warm cookie crumbles on top? I'm lucky enough to have a slew of South Bay Costcos to shop at but nothing's like a brand new one with clean floors. Newark's laid out like Automation and I didn't see too many store exclusives to want to drive up 880 again, but the opening staff is friendly and the biggest fans of the new food court cookie enough to push at checkout. Nice for you Alameda folks to pick between here and PacCommons, enjoy the New while you can. read more

This one star is for Costco staff at this location. Costco so often moves their products around and when a Staff was asked for a product location, they either did not care to help or just answered but ended up mislead you. I had experience 3 times. Staff did not really care to help. Very disappointing. They act like Home Depot employees...very ignorant. However, I would give a thumbs up for all staff at the cashier, especially self check outs. VERY efficient and helpful. Those other staff need to learn from this cashier people. Manager?!!! you need to train your staff to be more helpful. read more

Because life isn't hard enough, I decided to check out this new location on a Friday afternoon. As a veteran of the San Jose Hostetter and Fremont Pacific Commons locations, I have to mentally steel myself to enter the fray. I know other people love to spend hours perusing the aisles and partaking of all the samples, but I try to GTFO ASAP. Luckily, this location was way more manageable than either of the previously mentioned ones, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was able to get everything I needed - including gas - without wanting to end myself or others. read more

I have been wondering what was going to become of Newpark mall which has been languishing with most of the stores leaving. Costco to the rescue. This is a new location which is just a couple of exits from another one a few exits down on Pacific Commons. I am sure they did the research to justify it and based on the crowd, they were right. Finally open your and guess what? It looks just like every other Costco. They really rushed to have the grand opening before turkey day. With this Costco now open will finally take pressure off the Costco at pacific commons. I think that's why it opened so close to each other from the article I read. Plenty of parking along with parking from the mall including the two story parking which will be great for when it rains and during the summer. Just park on the first level to get all that shade and cover from the rain. read more

I can attest that this is just a typical Costco and with a little more promotional stuff on grand opening day. I've seen in the past where Costco sells fancier items in bulk online (Wagyu, caviar, etc). They actually had samples of caviar to give out, which I was impressed by. Serving it on a cracker was a good idea, but too much cream cheese kinda masked the flavor of the caviar (suggestion - less cream cheese if they ever decided to do it again). They also brought in former Niners RB - Ricky Watters to sign autographs to promote the official Niners whiskey (Gold Bar). Having visited a Costco in London in 2022 and last month in Seoul, I'm intrigued by the food court options and felt the a new opening was a great opportunity to introduce something new and different. What risk would it be? As another reviewer pointed out, there's another Costco down the road at Fremont AutoMall & Hayward's Business Costco. Feels like the design plan for this Costco was 5 years ago when they were trying to address the long lines at their gas pumps. In 2023, they proceeded to move forward with 32 gas pumps in that area. For those who still utilize gas stations, land of plenty. No electric charging for the rest of us. (go to the other side of the mall to compete for the few spots near Jack's Restaurant). read more

I love all Costcos, so this may be biased. The location is new and clean. It felt much more spacious than the nearby Fremont location. I visited on a weekday afternoon, so it was actually quite empty. The parking was so easy. The shopping carts were all shiny and new! The parking layout here is not like a typical Costco though, so I don't know how it would be when it's busy. read more

Yesterday afternoon, when I was in women's bathroom, a staff came in to refill toilet paper. She banged the doors onto the wall extremely hard, threw the new toilet paper rolls on the floor, and talked to herself with a lot of "oh my god" and F words. And when she went into one of the compartments, maybe that one was very dirty, she scolded many "WTF"s and even turned around, questioned an old lady who happened to walk by, "Did you just use this one?" The old lady said no, she was like "Oh really that's interesting" in a very sarcastic tone. I didn't know why she was like this yesterday afternoon, but obviously she hates her job very much. She doesn't want to do her work at all and she takes her bad mood out on innocent customers around. She was so irritable and aggressive that I felt very uncomfortable being near to her. The way she behaved was pretty disturbing and I can't help thinking that if someday she is more angry at her job and the customers here, will she do something to hurt the customers who just walk by? If she really can't tolerate such a job, she should quit and switch to something else, or at least go and see a psychiatrist or a therapist. A staff with such behavior and mental health condition is a potential safety concern to everyone. read more

I finally visited this new location. It's about the same size of the usual such as the Fremont location which is 5 miles away. Not nearly as crowded as most don't realized that it has opened. Especially at the gas station with plenty of pumps. All other locations are always backed up. Not here. Will rather come here especially to fill up. read more

I never write negative reviews because I see the silver lining of all businesses. I know how hardworking business owners are and truly go in with rose tinted glasses and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Which is why I have written and rewritten this review over and over in my head because I was genuinely so hurt today. I went to Costco super excited to get their strawberry ice cream a second time. I waited in line until a lady said "I can help the next person" and called me up to the window. I gave her the receipt and noticed she was wearing a strawberry shortcake top and thought it was so cute. I love strawberry shortcake so I voiced my compliment to her smiling. She said thank you. I was in an extra great mood excited to get my ice cream. She then went to the fridge area and pulled out a cup of melted ice cream. She placed it in front of me and said someone didn't pick it up. And handed it to me to take. I studied the cup and it looked soupy and melted. I pointed it out nicely "um, I think this is a little melted. Could I just get another one?" And she gave me the world's dirtiest look. She looked at me as if I ASKED HER TO GIVE ME HER FIRST BORN CHILD. Like please, ma'am I just want my ice cream which I paid for please. And then she huffed to the ice cream dispenser and filled it up so haphazardly and slapped a lid on top. There was a streak of ice cream hanging off the edge. She didn't even care to provide a napkin or wipe it. She gave me the dirtiest look again and I felt so small and sick to my stomach from encountering such an unpleasant human being. It was such a terrible experience and she was so terrible and petty and rude. Look at the picture. Like she really just wanted to be extra terrible because I asked for MY SWIRL OF ICE CREAM by not even filling it up. Like truly why are you even working there if you're going to be so unpleasant and mean. I don't get it. Also why would you give another paying customer someone else's old cup of abandoned ice cream? Like how hard is it to swirl a proper cup of ice cream which someone paid for?! I genuinely just couldn't wrap my mind around this person's attitude and actions. Please, I hope you don't ever treat someone else the way you treated me today. Because it made me feel so terrible today. read more

Costco - Really terrible sloppy job - Wholesale Stores Near Me - Newark, California

I came here today to get a few items. These guys are very smart to add this location. The pacific commons Costco was way way too busy for it's size and parking lot. You could go there and at times not even have a parking space to park in. This location is located right where the old JC Penny's & Burlington coat factory at the Newpark Mall used to be. It's literally the exact same layout as the Pacific Commons one, hopefully this helps with the foot traffic and lines at the other location in Fremont. The place is the same in every other facet too, except if you go now, you'll avoid long lines and crowds, which my guess is will last for 6 months or so. read more

This is for the Tire Center, which is perhaps the worst part of Costco. They claim that road hazard is covered. However, when it comes time to fix a flat tire in an emergency situation, they will never accommodate. That is pretty useless, and they will push you to get it fixed somewhere else. When you bought the tires from a vendor, you'd expect them to take care of their own customers first. Such a practice is disheartening. We need to think twice before purchasing tires from Costco in the future. read more

Costco used to be a great place for shopping but something changed in last year or so. It's mostly about quality of the product and bad behavior by the staff members. Here are the few things that I encountered. Cheese was stale one time. White Peaches were rotten inside. One time I got a snack from shelve. It was open which I found while charging for it. Someone from staff member came to help but he left that open packet there for someone else to pick up. I found this very unprofessional. Never seen these kind of behavior by a staff at Costco. I used to buy lot of my groceries from Costco but now I am switching to other stores as I don't see much price difference either. Also they overcharge me many times these days. Looks like Costco management has become very greedy. Be mindful when you shop here. read more

Who doesn't love Costco? I love everything about this place: the layout, the food and the selection of items!

The store overcharged for an item. Brought it to their attention in store, and instead of refunding the amount they charged it again to my card. Refunds manager Brian was useless if not hostile when asked to remedy over the phone "no can do". Called corporate and magically it was handled over the phone. I was told whether to fix their mistakes over the phone was "manager's discretion" (thanks Brian!). Guess I haven't made the cut after 22 years of membership. The store should be apologizing and jumping through hoops to make it right. Instead they make their mistake your problem. read more

Of the 3 Costco's in the Union City, Fremont and Newark areas, this one at New Park mall is BY FAR the best one. First, and most importantly, they have the friendliest customer service. From their greeters, cashiers and the folks who check your receipt as you exit, they have the most courteous staff. Union City has the worst, most unfriendly staff! This Costco IMO is the best. It's big, with lots of parking, easy in and out. With more than 30 pumps, there is never a wait time. There is a major issue - The gas pump exit is death trap. On the left is the big transformer and on the right is attendants station. It is a blind spot and I had near misses. Find other way around to exit. read more

This Costco is one of the better ones in my opinion. It's big and well organized and the amount of cashiers and self checkout is great. They also have sushi here. The staff are great. The gas station also has like 24 pumps if I recall correctly and isn't that busy. read more

This Costco is not as crowded as the other one at Pacific Commons. They are a bit smaller and have fewer Asian products here. However, they do have the standard items, and overall lines are shorter and much easier to get parking and get gas. I would stay away from the new sandwich item at the food counter. Tyler from the returns is the reason I do not like shopping at this store. He has given me to very bad experiences, one time I was returning some fish I purchased because it smelt spoiled and I didn't feel safe eating it, one day after it was purchased he told me I should make a conscious effort when I'm buying food items and not be a wasteful Human because they have to dump It. First off it wasn't my fault, second off that's not how you speak to someone, I was returning one item not 20. Today- I went in to return a hot water pot I bought that stopped heating up, he kept opening the package legitimately 3x and questioning how long I've had it for and was it used. I said yes! I told you it stopped heating up properly that's why I'm returning it and it was purchased 1 month prior, he said hmm are you sure this is only a month old? He questioned me literally for 3 minutes, are you sure it's a month old, are you sure it's not an older one, he made me so angry I asked for a manager, Brian came within minutes, and processed the refund with such a professional Manner. I have a bad experience with Tyler now 2x which makes me want to take my shopping elsewhere. read more

Our go to Costco store since it's opened about 1.5 years ago back. Gas station is always empty and didn't have any bad shopping experience. Lines usually move fast and we prefer to go m-f if feasible. Haven't used other service like optical or tires here yet. read more

This review is for the pharmacy here. I got there around 1pm today and there were 3 pharmacists standing around chatting. I asked if a medication was available here, they chatted for 5 mins about non work stuff, I had to ask the same question again, and the hispanic lady said no, but that Fremont Costco has it in stock. So I asked her if she could place the order for me so I can pick it up at Fremont. She said, "why don't you just go to Fremont Costco. I'm about to go on lunch." I looked around, and said "there are 3 of you so why can't one of you help". She said, "no, we all have to go to lunch. it would be quicker for you to go to Fremont Costco right now because I would have to go to lunch then come back to serve you.". LOL what? What kind of customer service is this? If I had more time, I would have asked to see her manager. This sort of behavior is really unacceptable. Why are you literally telling me to go somewhere else like this? How much effort is it to put in a pharmacy order? Usually Costco employees are helpful and knowledgeable, but that doesn't seem to be the case here at all. read more

Inconsiderate no compassion workers. Forgot my wallet at home while bringing the kiddos to school but needed to head to Costco. Now my two year old was with me and already cranky in the am. I downloaded the app but it shows my wife as the main holder. I explained I'm on the membership which they acknowledged in the system that I was but did not allow me to shop because I didn't have an ID. I explained I wouldn't need to stop by customer service if I had my wallet.... I finally found a picture of my ID AND STILL didn't let me prove who I was! Tried to show bank statements from my app and other things to prove who I am yet they did not care. Manager didn't even care. Just kept saying he couldn't accept anything else aside from a physical ID. Because apparently people have been scamming. I'm like I have my two year old with me why the heck would I be scamming Costco to take my money? With all the proof on my phone and Child in my cart still didn't care. I believe his name was Brian. That manager should not be in customer service. He doesn't know the definition of customer service. Horrible customer! read more

What a breath of fresh air! After years shopping at the Pacific Commons Costco dodging thousands of people who are trying to save half a penny on the dollar, this Costco in Newark is such a pleasant shopping experience! It didnt feel rushed and it was very nice having to have space while pushing your cart and shopping. You can take your time here because there is no frenzy like at Pac Commons. All the other shoppers were respectful of my space and nobody stole anything from my shopping cart! I hope it stays like this! Let's all try to keep this new Costco a secret so it doesn't become a zoo like the other one down the street! read more

This place has a multi stories parking lot next to it. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is not as crazily crowded as the Fremont COSTCO. Tire center's service was prompt and polite. Gas pump does not have crazy lines like other COSTCO. I almost do not want to share this great place secret with the public and keep it all in my own neighborhood.
