As Executive Members, we appreciate the earlier shopping hours at the Hazlet Costco. Unfortunately, that benefit is largely defeated when only one staffed register is open for the entire store, aside from self-checkout. We still ended up waiting in line for more than 10 minutes. What made today's experience especially frustrating was having an employee who appeared to be standing around approach me--with an extremely full shopping cart--and suggest that I use self-checkout. Self-checkout was clearly not a practical option with that many items. Instead of directing customers with overflowing carts to scan and bag everything themselves, I would have appreciated seeing available employees open another register and help move the line along. Executive Members pay extra for added benefits. Costco should staff the early shopping hours well enough to make those benefits worthwhile read more

Food is good quality, but customer service has plummeted. The red haired woman especially, will treat you with an attitude and decline your payments all the time if she "suspects fraud". She does this so regularly to people and it's getting on my nerves. Seeing the young generation be denied access to food shop is ridiculous. Do better. read more

I love coming to Costco. They always have great deals. This location is 5 minutes from me, and it's a good one. There store setup is great, and I can always find what I am looking for. The real highlight of a Costco is their food court. They always give you the best deals. My favorite thing to order is their Chocolate Chip Cookie. Its so crunchy and moist at the same time. The very best. I also really enjoy getting their slices of pizza and calzone. Their pizza is very flavorful for what it is. Extra cheesy. A must get on the way out after shopping, lol. I still love this location. Employees are great. The store is well stocked and I find everything that I need. The Kirkland brand clothes are getting even better in quality. I would normally give Costco a good review. We used them for everything from shopping, eye glasses and even vacation. Because we spend money there the people working the front in Hazlet engaged us in a high pressure campaign to upgrade our membership. In front of other people she was talking loudly about how much money we spend! Even after several NO responses the sales person persisted, she even implied that we were stupid if we didn't upgrade. this review is the hazlet costco tire. The tire service has good products including batteries, good price and warranty. However the service is slow and uneven. I haven't found them friendly in the past. Maybe it's slightly better now. Appointments can be made but do not save you time. I would really hesitate to use them in a emergency if I have a flat tire even if they fix it for no cost or very low cost. The waiting area is a bench. It's really inadequate. I hate how much I love Costco. Let me start with addressing some other reviews. One, this one doesn't have a gas station, two, this one doesn't sell alcohol. The reason it gets 3 stars are the hours, they are awful, late in the morning, early in the evening, the weekend hours are the worst, closing at 6:30 on a Saturday? During peak hours it's chaos, Karen, your cart doesn't belong angled in the middle of every aisle. And Barbara, relax you'll get your free sample no need to trample children to try a graham cracker. The sales usually can't be beat and they do have almost everything you need, especially if you have kids. Some of the clothes are questionable quality but some are pretty solid. Staff at the check out are always pretty helpful. I wish they had alcohol, that would bump it up. I also wish they took credit cards. I'd rack up a ton of points here. And can we just do away with flashing our card upon entrance, I can't buy shit without it, so why check? Lots of people come to scope out bulk stuff they can't buy? read more

I have been getting separate transactions with separate receipts because I shop for myself as well as a local food bank. I wanted to put the donations on a separate receipt and transaction and all of a sudden they will not let me do that anymore. One of the cashiers claimed "they were laxed during covid so I was able to do it" meanwhile I've been doings separate transactions for the local fire house and food bank for more than ten years. Now Costco has to pay an employee to put all my stuff back because I refused to check out. That's makes a lot of sense Costco. Loose an employee to restock all my frozen and refrigerated stuff and risk stuff melting. Also deprived food bank of the much needed donations in rough times. Great job!!!! Extremely disorganized. I called Costco ahead of time to order tires and purchase them. Everything was fine and no one told me it was a problem. They said they could put them on hold. I got there and they not only had them, but were being extremely rude. Rude and then trying to get me to buy a membership. I drove all the way in the snow with an appointment, was rude to and left this disorganized, careless money hungry establishment. I will never buy a membership after that. This costco like almost all other costs has lots of stuff in bulk. Usual busy hours on weekends and right after work. This one does have a Costco gas station so that is a plus (but not enough for another star). One thing I cannot get used to at this specific location is that you go through it clock-wise if you look down at the floor plan. It may just be purely coincidence but most of the Costco stores that I go to seem to move counter-clockwise. So looking into the store, I enter the right and people leaving the left (normally). This didn't impact the stars but that really messes with me at this place; maybe because I am too used to being on the right side. Back to the point: service standard, stock standard, samples on weekends, cheap hot dogs, parking is still a pain, etc standard. read more

They manager (Gary) told me his grandson had just died and he therefore could act like a jerk to customers and that I had better be careful around him. I cannot say enough positive things about this Costco store and how they are handling this unprecedented time. I went shopping today, dreading to go out, as many of us have been; however, groceries for my family of 5 were wiped out at home, our Instacart delivery was a no show last minute, and we couldn't live on steel cut oats for a week. I hadn't been to Costco in a long time. I was greeted by a long line outside with constant instructions to stay 6 feet apart, and honestly, I couldn't have been happier. 25 people were allowed in the store at a given time. We were reassured on our way in that the carts had been wiped and also given a wipe ourselves as we went in. Staff walked around the store with megaphones reminding people to stay 6 feet apart. The paper goods aisle was stocked with both supplies and staff to monitor output (1 paper towel and toilet paper package per customer). I also witnessed glass doors being wiped down by staff every few minutes. My cart was overflowing by the end. I got a few raised eyebrows and insulting comments from customers, but whatever, this mom needed Cheerios among about 20 other staples and I did not take more than we would use in the near future. Checkout was a breeze. The line moved systematically. The employees wiped down the conveyor belt, wore gloves, and made small talk through the glass divider. They did not make me feel as though I had inconvenienced them due to my ridiculously full cart and they even complemented my cart packing skills (haha). In the midst of this time, please research where you are shopping and which procedures are in place to ensure our safety. I highly recommend The Hazlet Costco if you, like me, have been afraid to venture out. They are taking this pandemic seriously and maintaining recommendations from the CDC and state while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. read more

The cashier and assistant were very rude, they told me to put my items on the belt rudely & there is no one to help me while the assistant is standing next to her. I am from another state and their policies are confusing, I wasn't sure what to do then she rudely told me to put my items on the belt her name is Maureen. I was so mad & shaking. Costco offers a one stop shop for all your shopping needs from $4.99 rotisserie chicken, $9.99 fruit bowls, $12.99 for a tender creamy Dulce de leche cake (my favorite), electronics, furniture, bedding, clothes, etc. I find it amazing that if you have a house or apartment and have absolutely nothing in it, working with a complete blank canvass. You can literally buy everything needed to set up your home from this place. Here's the downside to all of this, you have to bring your own truck because they don't deliver, plus no shopping bags so bring your own. Chances of going crazy, just buying everything that you think you need are very high. Sometimes, I have to talk myself out of buying a lot of things. Once I bought 3 lbs of Kirkland shredded Mexican cheese, 7 dozen eggs, large bag of frozen spinach ravioli, largest bag of Doritos (under $5.00 they were practically giving it away) and a large box of frozen chicken and cheese taquitos seemed like a pretty good idea when I was shopping at Costco but when I got home. I would look at everything I purchased and ask myself why??? I have to remind myself that I only have one refrigerator with a limited amount of freezer space plus I always feel compelled to eat everything in a timely manner. Costco offers some great prices and they do have some sales but you have to really look for them. I also enjoy coming here during the holidays because they offer nice gift baskets, different types of cookies, candy, etc. If I could buy all my gifts from here I would. One of the best perks of shopping here is that they offer free food samples around the store to promote their food or product items of the day. Even after shopping they have a place for you to have lunch, dinner, or snack. Not the healthiest offerings but who would not like a hot dog and soda (free refills) for $1.50. They also offer pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken bake, churros, ice cream etc. To enjoy this experience you either have to be a member of Costco or know someone who is a member to take you with them. read more

Just joined today & although Danielle was very helpful & nice, the food offerings were not. I've seen really nice Costcos on Instagram & this isn't one of them. No ground beef except 88% lean or a small pack of organic. Two dried out rotisserie chickens left on the shelf. Just wanted to add that I shopped in the early afternoon, not at closing. The bakery department was in the back corner in the dark & boy, they didn't have much. A few cakes on the shelves, no hamburger or hot dog buns & bagels that looked like a regular store brand in a 6 pack. The produce section was terrible. walked through the frozen section, but it looked dirty & behind the glass doors boxes were open & food was piled all over & falling over. And there's no rhyme or reason for where the food begins, then clothing, then outdoor furniture, then food again begins & ends. It's as if they just shove stuff anywhere they can. So disorganized, messy & dirty. Now I'm wondering if I did the right thing joining. I do have another Costco a little farther away, so may try there next. But if it's like the Hazlet, NJ location, I'm asking for a refund. read more

On Wednesday , 6/30/20 around 2pm Photo Department got annoyed when I tried to picked up pictures that was supposed to be ready 1:15pm . The photo was ordered in my cellphone . The confirmation number indicated it's ready 1:15pm . There was no one in line , the lady just got annoyed seeing me and couldn't find the pictures , later she found it on the side and told me impatiently ... saying the pictures are not here not ready you messed up etc . This is third time the Photo department older lady brushed off on me like this . Only Hazlet photo Departmemt had the problem and some of the employees have attitude problems in the past few years I rather drive another 4 more miles to Marlboro or Edison NJ stores . Less employee attitude problem. I guess Costco didn't pay their employee enough to be nice to the customers for some people . The eye glasses department didn't believe my daughter is not 26 years old yet kept asking her while I was waiting . My daughter is normally very forgiving young people and got annoyed after the third time questioning if she is 26 years old . Third time . The attitude of eye glasses department demeaning . The photo department is rude and disorganized. Stopped by on August 12th at 11 am for a passport picture. Woman working there clearly was annoyed to be asked to help, but took photos. Then after payment told me the machine was broken and they would call... Next day I call at 6:00 PM and after waiting 12 minutes to find out if photos are ready, the woman goes on a rant that she cannot find and I should have ordered online! Crazy woman - YOU took the photos, YOU lost them! Not worth the aggravation for five or six bucks to follow-up. Photo place is an incompetent angry holdout in an otherwise very good store. read more

I am a huge fan of the Hazlet Costco. I've been a member since the original opening as Price Club. Many of the staff are 20 year veterans and everyone I encounter is courteous professional and highly knowledgeable about product and location. The best meat department of any store in the area hands down. The short side is you have to buy giant packages. Not the end of the world especially when you have a bunch of people to feed. Bakery is top shelf and they have the best birthday sheet cake around. The tire department has a huge inventory and fabulous prices plus they have reasonable wait times. Electronics general merchandise and dry groceries are all fair prices and well stocked. Even the parking lot is too shelf! Shopping carts are also alway like new. You gotta love this Costco! read more

While I love the store, this review is for the tire center (and since I can't find it on here I'm assuming they don't have a Yelp account, so my review goes here) Ok so.... I went in to get new tires, needed all four. I dropped the car off and they call me about an hour later saying one of my rims is bent and they can't put them on until I fix it. That's fine, that's on me I guess. I get the rim fixed and make an appointment a few days later to get the car (because it's apparently a 2 hour wait if you don't make an appointment, or at least that's what I was told) come in to get my tires, 10 minutes early for my appointment and they tell me both of their lifts are broken so they can't put my tires on today. Would have appreciated a call before driving all the way over there considering I had an appointment... So now I need to come back a third time. Never had this problem with Stafford tire. It'll be my last time going to Costco for tires. read more

***THIS REVIEW IS FOR AUTO CENTER ONLY *** Had new tires put on and while driving on the GSP to work, actually felt something wrong like one was loose or crazy like that. Knew I couldn't continue so turned around to go home. Thankfully I was close to my home when the tire actually came off. Could you imagine if I was going regular speed on the GSP? Costco did absolutely nothing for me, not even free replacement. A representative was sent out to inspect the car and they had the nerve to make up some sick excuse as to why it was MY FAULT. My mechanic was mortified. Corporate Costco is not even to be reckoned with. They are like the Wizard hiding behind the curtain and will do their best to ignore you before they employ their insurance company who will figure out ten ways from today how this incident was your fault. Great place to buy large quantities or special items such as cameras or TVs. Tonight the night before Halloween the candy aisle was hopping. I like shopping here to stock up on large quantities so it last long as shopping is not my favorite thing. The place is kept lean and staff is always helpful. Meat is always great quality, excellent burgers and fillet mignon. Regarding vegetables and fruit you have to watch expiration dates and look at what you are buying. COSTCO started carrying UDI's bread in the bakery section and they are carrying many more gluten free items. If you catch it right they offer lots of samples to taste. So if you don't like shopping like I do stock up here. Membership required. read more

You have no idea the excitement that a former hardcore city dwelling (aka small apartment) family has when they realize that they now have a basement, an attic, a garage, AND a pantry that can all be filled to the brim with joy in the form of 2 gallon tubs of shampoo and 500 slices of american cheese! Actually, we didn't get either of those last time, but we did get 10 pounds of almonds and 4 chickens. Yes, 4 chickens. Because I have a Jewish mother and it's cold season. Since I was small, I went to costco, first with my parents and for over a decade for myself. This costco is the most pleasant experience of all of them in a 3 county radius. My mother even tries to save her trips for when she comes to visit. First off: even when it's "busy" it is not a zoo. I think I've only ever had maybe 3 people ahead of me online. The cashiers are amazingly fast and you're really out of there in no time. Product wise: it's smaller than some others, and doesn't have gas. It fills your needs though. I got basically an entire BBQ for almost 20 people for less than 150 dollars. And I have a load of food left. Seafood is amazing there too. The size of the salmon is crazy. A million kinds of cheese and dips. The hours are annoying, but that's a costco thing, and isn't the fault of this location. I took off a star because I've used the bathrooms here and they're not good. Also the bakery is slacking in terms of quantity on the weekends. By 12pm you shouldn't be out of a lot of stuff. read more

This is only for the Tire center. (I couldn't find it separately.) Worst service ever. Very very slow. No point of making an appointment. I make an appointment at 6pm and my car is not even taken in to the work area until 6.50pm !! One day they say it will take one hour and the next day they say one and half hour and add "No sir we never say 1hr"!! One day they reschedule the appointment from 5 to 5.30 and the next day "No sir we never reschedule on the same day" !! read more

We shop at several Costcos in the area, but this one is our go-to store. Their fresh fish is the best, and always wonderfully priced. We have fish several nights a week, something we wouldn't be able to do without the great Costco prices. They have a good selection of everything, and there are always new items to try. The staff is friendly and helpful. I read the ridiculous one-star review below that chastised this store because they bother to check for membership cards at the door; what a grouch that person was! I feel bad for a good business when a crabby reviewer goes online and gives a bad review for no good reason.
