They have a bit of everything and the selection has already been vetted for quality by their consumer goods testing laboratories. I love Costco. I have been coming to this location for around 20 years, and it's just a relaxing and fun experience every time. The prices are unbeatable, as is Costco in general, but even the large, oversized produce is cheaper than it's smaller grocery store counterpart. The employees are also some of the friendliest around - most of the folks have been working there since I was a kid, but even new hires seem to genuinely enjoy being there and helping customers. That's a rare thing these days, and it's nice to be a part of. The bakery is also incredible - it's even cool to see the folks in the back going to work, churning out 100s of delicious cakes, muffin, bagels, or whatever else every day. I live alone, and still go to Costco to buy most of my groceries in bulk. I wish all business areas were as efficient and friendly. read more

Had to write a review to say that this place is completely incompetent and their staff doesn't know how to communicate. Wasted 20 minutes of my life watching other people being helped while my car was sitting outside ready to be driven off the parking lot, paid for and everything. This could easily be my favorite Costco. While it could use a liquor store (Gov. Christie please amend the NJ law that dates back to prohibition) and a gas station it is still a awesome place to shop. You get amazing deals, and the staff is terrific also! The Executive membership (which I have)....okay it's $110 annually but I've gotten back no less then $125 each year since I've been a Exec!!!!! Really?!?!?! They pay me to shop there!!! I get Lucky and Buffalo jeans for $20. I've gotten Hilfiger polo's for $15. Even the Kirkland branded stuff (Costco's name brand) is top notch quality stuff. The Kirkland Signature dress shirts are a RIDICULOUS VALUE...maybe not Brooks Brothers but defiantly Jos A. Bank quality...and you don't have to wait for a buy one get two + a tie and a pair of trousers sale to afford it. I can't believe the only thing I've covered here is the clothing?!?!? Not the $5 Rotisserie Chicken that makes Stop N Shop or Shop Rites look like a fatty droopy Cornish Hen....these chickens are tasty and huge! I eat a quarter of it for diner then make quesadillas and chicken salad for the next few lunches. Then there is the food court where else can you get a Hot Dog and a Soda for $1.50?!?!?! Really? I was at a Hot Dog cart a week ago and the guy wanted $2.00 a dog (and they weren't nearly as big or quality as this) and a soda was $1.50?!?!? How do you do it Costco?!?!? I've been to Sam's and I've been to BJ's but there is only one Costco.....and there is a clear reason for that. High end quality for rock bottom pricing. Member for life?!?!? I have been a member of Costco for over 10+ years starting in Matthews NC. This Costco dissapoints me. Produce is often moldy. Rotisserie chickens are dry and often not time stamped. Understaffed and over worked employees seem grumpy with some exceptions. Not a fan. read more

I went to the Hazlet store today and panicked when I realized I lost my cell phone somewhere in the store. I told one of the employees who directed me immediately to another employee and he gave me my cell phone! A huge relief. Thank you to the great employees and the honest person who turned it in. The store layout is nice and items are fairly easy to find. Well stocked. Busy but lines moved quickly on a Thursday night. read more

This location is on the smaller side compared to your typical Costco stores. No gas station here and no liquor store inside.

Costco has sort of become synonymous with brunch in some circles since there are generally so many samples to try that by the time you're done shopping, you've had lunch at the same time. Not so much at the Hazlet location. We found some good deals here, but I'm not sure it would be worth the membership fee to shop here on a regular basis. I was surprised that they had so many toys leading up to the holiday season, and yet, they were generally on the expensive side. Also, they didn't have many toys for younger kids. Maybe I'm used to shopping in normal grocery stores, but I found the limited choices amongst brands for the same items (i.e. like laundry detergent) to be frustrating. read more

Overall a very good Costco. No liquor department here. Meats, vegetables, all are very good here and if you can swing it on a weeknight before 830pm it's very quiet and easy to shop. Mark at the Wireless Desk was very helpful and helped me get a great deal on my family plan as well. read more

Great location. Super busy on weekends, so I tend to come on weekdays. Our go-to for cakes and deli platters. Last visit I had to wait for my cake, which was scheduled to be ready at 11am (I came to pick up at 3pm). Other than this one isolated incident, I would have given them 5 stars. read more

Almost always a pleasant shopping experience. Lots of great products and food samples. Great value on the rotisserie chicken, veggies, and home items (comforters and rugs). Staff at checkout lines are very friendly-staff at customer service could use some training. Best time to shop appears to be around dinner time on weekdays. Recent shopping experience noticed prices were different on a Sunday and following day Monday - 3 dozen eggs were $9.49 and garlic was $2.99/pound on that Sunday (did not buy both) and next day on Monday, they were respectively $3.99 and $2.49/pound (bought the eggs). I had an EXTREMELY unpleasant experience on Sunday at this Costco. My family has been a member of Costco for at least the past 20 years. My Husband and I just moved to Red Bank and were looking forward to getting our own membership. On Sunday afternoon we headed over and stood in line for our membership. The person we got our membership from was very friendly and explained the membership options to us. We chose to go with the executive membership and chose to get the Citi Visa card as well. The employee at Costco let us know that we would also get a free case of water with our membership. Once we got our membership we did some shopping and as we headed towards the checkout line we noticed a sign on a stack of water cases that said Citi Members Water Bottles. We grabbed one and put it in our cart. As we were in the process of doing that an employee named Shannon came over to us quite rudely and said "EXCUSE ME, those are only for people who got a membership today". My Husband and I were slightly taken aback by the rude manner of this employee and how loud she was being. We politely explained that we did get a membership and Visa card from the front desk, as well as, showing her the paper which has our membership information on it. Instead of responding professional Shannon replied with "You were supposed to get it from the front desk. How do I even know you signed up today? You know what I'm going to go find out." She marches to the front desk and them comes back and says "no one from the front desk remembers you and proceeds to take the waters out of our cart and put it back in the stack." She then continues with "for all I know you didn't even sign up today". Needless to say, Shannon is a disgrace to the Costco name. While talking to us she was not only snippy, but rolling her eyes like a child. The right thing to do in this situation would have been to walk us back to the front desk and try and get this situation resolved like an adult. Instead Shannon had an attitude and 0 customer service skills. I have not been treated that poorly in a long time and it is a shame that Costco thinks this is okay. I did report her to a manager who did apologize to us for the situation but really did nothing to rectify the situation. I have never run into a situation like this before and hope that I will not again. read more

Sometimes prices are great, i am there for a few things most of the time. But the service from the cashiers sometimes are unbearable. One man there was extremely rude, decided to mumble a few things look and shake his head for me to move. I also watched one of the men in the back kitchen areas, put the uncooked chickens on the skewers and put them in the oven, while then walking up to the cooked chickens and touching them before washing his hands, i will no longer eat a chicken from there unless i watch them take it out. This location is always clean, well stocked and the lines are usually not that long. Much more organized and quicker than other Costco's that I have been to. The staff is always so friendly as well read more

The Costco employees are polite and go the extra mile for customers. I am a big fan, I have been shopping at Costco for many years, the Hazlet store is clean and the lines move very fast. I did half of my Christmas shopping at Costco, including books and lots of good chocolate. I will keep shopping at Hazlet Costco! read more
