Waited over an hour and forty-five minutes after my scheduled appointment only to be told they couldn't complete the service. I get that some things are out of their control, but why bother making an appointment if your car doesn't get serviced for almost two hours after your appointment start time? Hey Darlings!! This is three reviews over the last few days, and won't Jonathan be surprised! Jonathan is a friend who inspired me to write reviews here in YelpLand many moons ago and is typically mentioned in these here screeds. Your Host has been a bit lax in the last couple of reviewisms, but it's time to right the ship and include him in this review, especially that he too, is a member of this wholesale club. Your Host has been a member of The Costco for about 30 years. That's a long time, wouldn't you say? Heck, I remember when the location in Edison was originally Price Club! Feeling nostalgic yet? Anyway, it's time to get into the meat of the review, shall we? This place has nearly everything you'd typically find at wholesale clubs, and the selection is great overall. Of course, they stock the name brand items, along with their own brand, Kirkland, which by the way is quite good (their natural peanut butter is great BTW). They carry their own baked goods (baked on premises), meats, seafood, poultry, etc, and the products are quite good as well. Prices overall are decent, and are typically less than the typical supermarket. From what Your Host has observed from his membership here and at their competitor, BJ's, the prices here are a tad less. Some products that Costco carries might not be found at BJ's and vice-versa. Unfortunately Darlings, Your Host does not (yet) have a Sam's membership and is unable to elaborate where they're concerned. There are two pieces of advice that Your Host would like to offer to get the most bang for the buck when it comes to heading out for a wholesale club shopping outing: 1. Know your prices and do the math. You may find you may/may not get a better deal at the supermarket. Yes, you could save yourself some cash-ola buying wholesale but you might save more when your local market runs sales depending on the week. It bears repeating: do your research and the math. 2. Darlings, do NOT lose your head here and buy, buy, buy. A simple shopping trip where you planned to spend a hundo or two can easily tally to $10,537.76 if you don't keep your budget in check and end up buying stuff that you think you need but really don't. Solid Costco location, huge warehouse with a lot of different items for sale when I compare it to my local Costco in Englishtown. 2 downsides, the parking lot is a disaster as it seems the aisles are too small to handle the traffic. The other is that the customers are lazy as they kills parking spots because they cannot be bothered putting their shopping carts into the cart corral. read more

Costco tire order tires made an appointment. Was five minutes there before my appointment and a 2 1/2 hours still waiting for my car to have four tires installed horrible.. 4-23-22 1:30PM Came here with my sister as she was in need of a new hibiscus tree. Her one from last season has been in the house all winter and it needs a friend lol. Once you enter the door there is the plants inside the front doors. Tons of plants and trees you would think you were at a nursery. Than we go in the store and she gets a couple of other items. It looks a lot different than my store in South Florida. This one noticeably had the plants which were extreme as well as outdoor play equipment. I forgot about those days when you relished the couple of months when you can use these things outdoors. My sister was happy with the tree we picked out. In fact after I went home she went back looking for another one but they were all gone. That's how it works at Costco no matter what the location when you see it grab it because it will be gone. read more

The absolute WORST Customer Service young man works here. Went on a Monday night around 7:00 PM, to return a few items. The young man at the counter was complaining what a horrible day it has been, and how he doesn't feel well. I tried to comfort him by saying he should be grateful he has a job as I know people who have been laid off their jobs. No response! Then he dropped his phone, and said now his day got even worse. Ok..so he finally returned my items. Then I did self check out after buying two items. I had a question if one of my items had a coupon, and he had to come over to answer the question. He said he had no way of knowing! He said I should check my BJ"s App!! Seriously??? I asked if I could speak to a Manager and maybe they would know. He then decided to scan the item and said there were no coupons, which he should have done in the first place. BJ's , you chose a wrong person to represent your company in Customer Service. You should learn from your biggest competitor, without mentioning names begins with a C and ends with an O! read more

I really wish these stores would break their departments into different stores for review purposes. I really like this Costco. I wish it was closer to my house. But their tire shop is an absolute disaster. J don't understand why running a tire shop is such a difficult endeavor yet here we go again. The only smooth part of the entire transaction was my credit card clearing payment. They dropped the ball in every way possible. Literally. I couldn't order tires online so I called and was told I had to order them in person. I left work and drove out to them and the guy said he needed to see the car. It was for my wife's car so obviously I didn't have it. I should have walked out when the guy in front of me was upset because they had screwed up his tire pressure sensors. Hindsight. They screwed mine up too. So how many trips does it take to get tires on your car at Costco? For me? It was 7. Seven days of leaving work early. Seven trips out to ocean township. Uncountable hours as they tried to figure it out. They destroyed one of the rims and didn't say anything. Odd how tires go flat after they drill valve stems out. Yes, drill into aluminum. They did that. Then couldn't figure out how to get the spare out of the car. Told me I didn't know what I was talking about when I told them how to do it. Then just wandered off. Someone will figure it out, right? Yeah, me. I did it. And I was literally minutes from mounting and balancing my own tires. You thought BJs Tires was incompetent? They're tire geniuses compared to Costco Tire. I can go on and on. The bottom line is it was an awful experience, worse than BJs, believe it or not. So the moral of the story is if you need tires, do yourself a favor and call Tire Farm in Howell. You can thank me later. read more

Used to love shopping here. Totally turned around. I had a horrendous experience there today. Their manager BERATED me about the chicken bake that i had just purchased. I pulled my mask down to take a bite and she literally screamed at me in front of a crowd of people. Having been a member for many years I still enjoy going to Costco. Their prices are very competitive My only beef is that they do not have visible staff floating around in the aisles. Cuz one doesn't really know where they stock various items and in what aisle number they are located. The aisles are not visibly marked. All the departments I feel are well-stocked. The butchers in the meat department are very knowledgeable and helpful. Through the years I used to get various products for my food business and some of COSTCO's products were cheaper than my suppliers, obviously because they do not deliver. I feel the COSTCO's own brand(Kirkland) is just as good as most name brands. The food checkers are very helpful and so is the front office. If you call them they will not give you any prices of their items over the phone. read more

Still a great place to go for specific items - we do not do our regular shopping here, however. My wife will tell you I only fo for the samples (partially true) and she is happy that they seem to have cut back on tastings. We generally go for specific items that we have come to enjoy but you won't find us pushing a fully loaded cart anytime soon. the store is always neat and clean but I think they would benefit by putting up some signage for people not familiar with the store layout. You definitely do not get the variety seen in your grocery store and they will sometimes just stop carrying a favorite item but, they always seem to have an acceptible substitute. Their gas station is generally a little cheaper than others around and the attendants are always friendly - not cheap eonough to make a special trip, however. read more

This is the Costco closest to my home. I have been going to Costco so long my card says Price Costco on the front and shows a picture of my newly married 26 year old self on the back. I am now 59 and I have been a member all these years. Costco helped my family afford more and we even used it on our vacations all over America. We have purchased almost all our cars from Costco. Do I recommend Costco? A resounding yes! Every Costco has its own personality and while you will find similar core products at each it is an adventure to find things that are unique to each one. read more

This review applies only to the Costco Tire Center. The store itself is great. In fact, I am a big fan of Costco. Over the years that we've had a membership, we generally get our tires done there. In the past, the service and wait time have been bearable - not exemplary, but I didn't mind it. Today's experience has changed my mind. I called around noon to get a price quote on four tires. I was told one price that, compared to a competitor, was a savings of over $150. Fantastic. I was told no appointment was necessary, even though I preferred one. Nope, no need, I was assured. I could just walk in. I thought going later on in the day might alleviate the wait time, so I got there around 5pm. The gentleman with whom I spoke on the phone was no longer there. Instead, another young man "helped" me. Here's where the experience goes awry. I was charged something different than what I was quoted. I let it slide; it's not too big a difference. My partner and I went shopping to pass the time. About an hour later, I get a call from the tire center - a lug nut on one of the tires was "incorrectly installed" by the last technician who worked on it. Consequently, the lug nut snapped while the last tire was being removed, so one of my tires will be secured by three lug nuts, rather than four, going forward. I'm told it's a safety hazard, but that the supervisor has approved for the installation to continue. Since all the tires are already off, I simply agree and decide to deal with it the next day. Now agitated, we continued shopping. I bought myself some shoes and nice underoos to self-soothe. I'm called again another hour later. I think, finally done! Hooray! Alas, I'm told the tires I've already paid for were the wrong size, and that the right size will have to be ordered. The correct ones may take 3-5 business days to arrive, and they cost about $10 more per tire. Mistakes happen, so I'm outwardly understanding. They will call me back when the tires have arrived next week. We get back and wait for a little bit before being told that actually, the correct tires are unavailable. They can't even get them. I'm offered another brand, at an up-charge of about $40/tire. At this point, I've had enough of this god-awful service, and I tell them I'll shop around. We have to go into the main Costco building to get a refund. This process takes at least 15 minutes because the tire guy didn't communicate to the customer service guy that there was a deal on the tires and the total on the refund didn't match up. I look over at my poor boyfriend, who graciously tagged along. The light had gone from his eyes. I felt dead inside too. By that time, it was 7:30pm. I wasted 2 1/2 hours to walk away without new tires and minus a lug nut. In my experience in customer service, when a customer has been that inconvenienced, you at least offer some kind of consolation. Maybe speak with a supervisor to give a break on the future purchase. Nothing! It was all remarkably bad. I will gladly pay more not to get screwed over next time. read more

Over the years I've been a member of Costco, Sams Club, and BJs. Although each store has its merit, I prefer Costco in the long run. Let me get the negatives out of the way first. It's usually hard to find someone on the floor to help you find something. Yes you can go to the service desk but it's quite far from the meat section for instance. Sometimes the checkout lines are unbearably long. Some items that you are used to buying may not be carried anymore which leads to some disappointment. I hear they will not be honoring American Express next year. The store is generally clean all the time; including the bathrooms. Merchandise is stocked neatly and not in disarray. The meats are always fresh and labeled clearly. If you can't find something a butcher will help you. The produce is always fresh but buying in quantity requires that you also consume it fast. The frozen foods section is varied and quite large. I've gotten tires here several times and the prices and wait times are good even though the personnel here can take a course in customer relations. I have never gone wrong trying the Kirkland brand. Most cases it's better than brand names. For instance their Toscano extra virgin olive oil is absolutely the best olive oil I've ever had. They always have a wide variety of choices and you often leave with something unexpected after you sample one of the products they spotlight. I thought it was futile to complain, but they picked up an expensive sofa that hadn't lasted 4 years as it ought to have. I received the refund check a week later. Today I went to Costco picked up a fresh piece of Salmon with some other things when I got in the car my husband asked what is that smell. After having Covid I have a bad sense of smell. I took it home cut it into 7 pieces to freeze felt a bit slimy. Later that night my daughter opened the freezer and said what is that smell. I guess I will take the 30 dollar lose. Thanks Costco. My membership expired the end of August. I did not know. I have been a member for 10+ years. When I went to check out the cashier said it popped up for renewal. I explained that I had just gotten an offer in the mail for renewal or upgrade and I wanted to see what is best for me to do. He said no problem, I'll get a supervisor over and she'll fix it. So the supervisor who was at the desk closest to the bathrooms at 11:00am on 9/3 came over and told me I had no option but to renew at that moment. I had hundreds of $ worth if meat, coffee. etc in my cart or on the belt for checkout. Because of your supervisor's attitude and inflexibility I walked out leaving everything there. I hope you did not put it back because you had tons of signs stating nothing can be returned "due to Covid". You have not only lost a long term member but I went to BJ's and purchased everything I needed with a FREE membership. You should retrain your "supervisors" in empathy and customer retainment. So sad to leave you Costco. read more

This Costco is great. It's an easy in and out and right next to route 18 and 66. I mean I guess all costcos are really good, but the one in Brick for example seems crowded and way less organized. The staff here is always really friendly and the store is always very clean and fully stocked. I've bought expensive items here and have compared the prices and found that the Costco price was always the best. And gas is really cheap too. read more

I had my tires done here primarily because of the decent price and the free rotation and balance, but also because of the service. I found the sales staff to be very personabale and credible. The service was very good, they answered all of my questions and explained the differences with nitrogen vs regular air and what the best priced deal would be for what I needed. The tires were replaced in a timely fashion and my car is back to driving smoothly again. I'm a happy camper. read more

Look, we get you don't make dollar one off of your products, but when a member says no to an executive membership, they mean no. I don't really want to be harassed and talked into a membership I don't need. When someone says no, move onto the next person. PS-set up a booth or something similar. People want to get in and out....waiting another five minutes because the person in front of you has an epiphany they want a five dollar bonus check isn't necessary. read more

Everything here is laid out nice and they are never out of stock! I like the Kirkland brand! If you want bulk items this is where to go! The cheese cake is delicious and the rotisserie chicken is always fresh and tender. It's Costco. Either you love them or you hate them. For us, we love Costco and go there every week. This Costco is clean, the employees are all friendly, management is effective, and the prices are good. Of course, being Costco, you do not get a large variety there and they sometimes change products with no notice but that is all part of shopping at Costco. We also use their tire services as their tire prices cannot be beat. Just this year alone, we purchased tires for 4 cars at Costco. We compared tire prices with other stores and Costco prices always came out on top. read more

Technically I live closer to the Brick Costco, but I shop at this Costco over the others in the area - the employees are nicer, the store is a little better stocked and cleaned - it's just an overall better experience. Only once have I encountered a sale item not in stock. The gas station here always has the lowest prices around, especially if you need premium gas. read more

I love shopping at Costco! I live closer to the Costco in Brick but prefer to shop at the one in Ocean because the store is cleaner and laid out nicer. Being a previous employee I have seen both sides of what Costco has to offer and it is amazing. They only hire from within first then once nobody wants the job they offer it to the public. They only promote from within and the benefits and pay are great. Highly recommend this place for all of your food needs but be careful because the portions and quantities are huge. read more
